Thanks All/Mark, that helps 🙂

Im still not sure i understand, Mark you say if you order before 1st july you are on the existing terms. but the contract for them is 1st Sept , they can just order early but the contract is sept isnt it? not the date of ordering?? so does that mean the new CONTRACT in sept is on the new terms anyway?
as regards cancelling the order if the AP’s drop (not likely) or if a more suitable car should appear in Julys price list. I was under the impression that you can cancel the order if you wish and could take a new order out in july if they really wanted to (not likely to be honest), my AP dropped by £500 last time i ordered and like i said the dealership contacted me to say they had re-done the paper work and reduced it for me.
if thats all the same then ordering BEFORE July if they can makes senseApril 20, 2026 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Help with EV charging for elderly couple not into ‘Apps’ #353781Well the couple have both got Smartphones and the husband a ipad too. not sure that they do much with them.
anyway i have given it some thought and i think they should be ok . i just set our Octopus app up with a charge to 100% setting, (the car is set to 80% so will not charge past that anyway) and ready by 9am. i did nothing else and then tonight just plugged the car in and walked away, the app guessed i had 46% left (i have 29% in reality) and then set a schedule as i didnt correct it. with it thinking i need 100% it should charge to the amount i really want anyway. with it set like this they could just plug in once a week and they will be happy and no fuss to do if the cant manage the app. at the end of the day i live 50ft from them so not a problem to help them out.I understand the view point of mobility but i know others in the same position that have said they could not visit their child without the car and have got it and use it for to/from work as well. just not been so honest with mobility Im sure, sometime it doesn’t pay to be so honest it seems.
November 25, 2024 at 10:32 pm in reply to: Motability now starting to quote real world EV ranges #294023I think the ‘new’ figures are about right for many cars, we had a e2008 which was quoted with about 211 mile range, in summer we could get around 200 , with care but in the cold winter time i wouldn’t like to push it much more than 140miles, we have now a MG4 , that quotes 270 miles range, in the summer with care we can get that if not more, but now we have a cold snap we wouldnt push it beyond 200miles, that said the problem seems to be on short runs (which we do 90% of the time) we may do 5 miles there , 5 back, the heater is on full warming the car all the way there and then again on the way back, the odd longer run we find after 5mins or so we can turn the heater off or set much lower now the car is nice and warm and the efficiency goes back up , it depends on what type of driving you do, if its local short trips the range will be much lower , does that matter if only doing local runs as a couple of hundred miles is still two weeks for us and we charge for pennies over night anyway when we need to, on longer runs the range is better and again doesn’t worry us . just think what type of driving you will be doing BEFORE you order a EV and ask yourself how often you drive more than a couple of 100miles a day. i think people often get to worried about range, its a different mind set you need with a EV

we ordered a new skoda some years ago, it needed to be a Auto but the dealer messed up and didnt tick the right box and we got sent a manual, it was no good to us so the lease on our old mobility car was carried on while a new car was ordered (about 10 weeks).
another problem was we ordered a Ford Kuga, i paid extra for a few bits of kit i wanted with it but what turned up was a standard spec version, we had the option of taking it and getting refunded on the AP for the extras i ordered or they would order it again. we took the standard spec version which turned out fine as it was.August 9, 2024 at 10:11 pm in reply to: No More Buying Vehicles from Motability at Lease End #286607Silverfox , and others, we recently came off the scheme and bought a car using the mobility monthly money to help pay for it, its a long story but it will work out better for us, anyway , when we bought the new car i arranged to take the mobility car to the dealership i was buying the new car from. we i collected the new car i asked what happens to the mobility car, do they get the option to buy it?
i was told that in the past they got given the option of buying the car when returned and often they would, sometimes they bought the car and re-sold it to the mobility customer that returned it. BUT now they dont get the option to buy, ALL cars returned are shipped off to auction now with no other option (so they say, dont know if true but there was no reason for them to say this) so the buy from the dealership option seems to have gone too!
Just a update, rang mobility and they had no problem with the return, very helpful.
we will have to pay the early termination fee of £250 but will get back about half of the AP we paid and they offered us £100 good condition payment too.
all in all very pleased with the service from them.
so the car goes back on this Friday, someone will end up with a nice car thats been no trouble at all for the last 18 months.
now i understand that i can get the tax paid on our other car now but since thats a EV too the tax is zero anyway till they review the car tax system next April .
thanks all for the help and advice, so long and thanks for all the fish

I think they did, its as Elliot wrote, its a ID4 (but with a new body and much better trim).
Mind you 90% of cars seem to be the same as others under the skin, jeep avenger, e2008, Vauxhall mokka , Citroen C4 and a number of others, all the same car.
The Ford uses much of the ID4 system, the software and the screens etc are all ford so i hope that the software is better than the ID4’s
i was surprised that Ford and VW have a joint project going. i would have thought that both are looking at the same customer base. There was a e3008 at the NEC big event, also the new Scenic EV and the even newer Ford Explorer EV which will be on the list in the next couple of weeks ( i Guess the new price list) i was 100% sure i would want the e3008, when i sat in it i still thought what a great car. but the Scenic to be honest piped it when we sat in that, ok it was the top spec version (High AP) but that was really nice in a light leather trim. then i looked at the ford, for me that was the best out of the three, really nice inside and from reading between the lines the AP should be half that of the Scenic (still a lot more than the current AP for the e3008) there certainly seems more choice now, i am not due to change cars for over a year and half so only window shopping but when we had our e2008 the choice was much much less. all 3 of the cars i have listed are really nice ones i think.
Hi
Interesting thread, we currently get our car due to my sons problems, in the next few years we may lose the car option as he will be going into residential care, at that point we would have to give up the car, we hoped to buy the current car at the time we lose mobility . looks like that option will be gone. one way round it i guess (hope) is that when we return the car the dealership we take it to are offered the option to buy it via mobility (so i understand, anyone confirm this?) we could tell the dealer to buy the car and he has a guaranteed sale. we would rather buy a car we know than one we dont, we look after our car and anything wrong we make sure its put right so would be prepared to pay normal market values for it. anyone else done that and did it work out for you?

Oh and one more worry, i have never had a car with a cloth type dash board, the dash and centre console look like a light grey fabric , how well does this stand up to the normal wear and tear of modern family life???
We have the e2008 , only had it last March. Been a great car but lacks power and range, the e3008 looks great on the videos i have seen and has more power and better range (we are only getting around 140 in the cold weather) , we have 2 years to go still but if was looking now i think the e3008 would be on top of my list, maybe the ID4 just below it. I hope to see the 3008 in the flesh very soon, will be going to the mobility show at the NEC in a couple of months (just to kick tyres so to speak) and hope to have a good luck then.
December 26, 2023 at 10:49 pm in reply to: Motability EV Emails – Can someone explain this please? #252409Hi
We have the e2008 and had it just under a year now, done about 5000 miles in it,
right, we often will charge up to 100% but dont need to normally, just like a ‘full tank’ in the summer we got nearly 200mile before i started to worry, 99% of the time we are withing 10mile (if not a lot less) from home.
we do say 100miles a week so i charge on a Saturday night to top things up, we are on Qctopus and get a 7.5p/KW rate from 11:20 to 5:30am each night, we put the washing machine and dishwasher etc on timer so we find that with us using the dishwasher/washing machine/dryer etc each night (need to for or disabled sons problems) we are in fact spending less in electric now than before we had the car and that incudes the cost of charging the car, we are also saving all the cost of petrol (about £100 per month) so for us its a no brainer.
one or twice a year we venture further way from home and have had to use public chargers twice i think and yes they are not cheap but neither is motorway petrol and i dont think we spend more than if we used a ICE car for that run anyway.
the normal thing to do at public chargers is to charge up to 80%, the reason being the high charge rates that are needed to pump all the electricity into the cars batteries can shorten the life of the battery pack due to heat etc as the cells get full so cars automatically slow the charge rate once you get to 80%, it takes a long while to go from 80 to 100%, that ties up the charger for other users, up to 80% can normally be done in 20-30mins for most cars (not normally at zero when you start , unless you push the car there!)
if you do stay longer (no one waiting and your still drinking your coffee etc) as the charge rate drops you will find your the cost per hr drops, your billed for the electric you use , not the time so although it takes a lot longer to go from 80-100 % the cost for that last 20% would be the same as the first 20%.
i will admit i always worry about if the public charger will work, be available etc but thats only because its so rare i use one, i think its been maybe 3 times in the last year certainly not more and havent had a problem at any time. we are very happy driving a EV and will certainly go down that route again, dont forget that you get a free home charger too (worth about £1000 fitted) ifyuo can have a home charger, dont do much more than 100miles a day its got to be the way to go IMHO.
As regards charging to 100% at home, well its not such a strain on the battery pack as the charge rate is a lot lower on a home charger so it doesn’t heat the battery pack the same as a rapid charger would and also , to be honest 99% of EV’s have a buffer that stops the battery from reaching a real 100%, for example our car as about 50KW battery pack but full charge is stopped at about 45KW to protect the battery, all that is automatically managed by the cars systems so you don’t have to think about it, just plug in and let it get on with it.
I know EV dont suit everyone, if you cant charge at home, do high mileage each day but for us we love it.

December 16, 2023 at 10:12 pm in reply to: My 1600 miles later thoughts on Megan E Tec Iconic #251648Just wondered how you find the brakes, some reviews say that they are either on or off? we currently have a e2008 EV and really like the EV experience, i would like a car with heated steering wheel and a little larger boot, also we find even in sports mode the pick up from a roundabout is a little soft, great once its moving but the first sec or two its a little flat, that just the time you need it to pickup, we find the delay a little like turbo lag in our old car. interested to hear your thoughts with the E-Tec.
We picked our e2008 up in march and that was at 100%, the dealer told us it would be and it was, no problem. Just tell them and ring the night/morning before you pickup to check its been charged.
enjoy the EV, we love ours.
Hi All
We have a Peugeot e2008 and we had it 1st March 23, so its six months old now.
When we had it i was not sure about the range etc so didnt feel to comfortable driving but over the six months its been great, in the cold weather (March was cold with a lot of snow) we recharges about every 100mile but still had about 50mile range left at that point, since we do no more than 100miles a week that was fine. now its got warmer the range has got much better, sometime i dont charge for 2 weeks and we seem to get around 200miles. i am also finding that the different modes such as eco/normal/ sports makes little difference to the real range of the car so i leave it in sports mode all the while now.
we would not want to go back to a ICE car now as we love the drive and not having to plan trips to go past a garage now.
more range would be nice i am sure but it hasnt been a problem, last week we did a 130 mile drive on the motorway and still had 46% battery left when we got there, a little top up while we had a coffee and we had more than enough to get home later. very relaxed drive and charge at home for about £2 aweek!
March 8, 2023 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Lease extension if likely to loose mobility entitlements in the next year or two #214388Thanks BigDave
Thats a good starting point, at this early stage i think i will just pass on the comments i have received here. at the time her situation changes i will advise speaking to CAB as i think it will be a nursing home funded by the Local council. Thanks all.
March 8, 2023 at 1:36 pm in reply to: Lease extension if likely to loose mobility entitlements in the next year or two #214365hi Wigwam and Joss, Thanks for the replies.
am i right in believing for my friend to continue to be the main driver of the car and hence the car being kept at his home that his wife can be no more than 5 miles from his address, i know that was the case some time ago .
can the care home say that they want the mobility money or stop him from having the car so they get the the money anyway? I know he would be happy to take her to any hospital trips etc she needs and of course he wants to visit regularly.
When you collect its very easy, we collect Wednesday, you will need the Pin number and thats it, you may get asked to confirm the drivers but they should already have all that sorted. check the car and the spec to be sure all is ok. we had a good dealer and he told us he is happy to spend 5 mins or a hour explaining all the controls etc , nothing seemed to much trouble but we have had different cars before and its almost been ‘heres the keys, bye’ from some places. dont rush remember that you have it for a least 3 years and you want it right. you will have to pay the advanced payment during the handover so take a credit/debit card with you. not sure if they would take a cheque, we always use our debit card . enjoy the experience . heres a pic of our handover, this dealership always takes a photo for their facebook page (1st time thats happened , and they did ask if it was ok)

Hi
Maybe i am being misunderstood, i couldn’t choose anything i wanted for the number plate, i am not saying that, but i could choose from a list of pre-dealer allocated numbers (about 30 or so).
maybe it depends on the size and turn over of the dealership but they told me they get given a block of numbers to use to register cars from and thats what they showed me. so the dealer may have been telling the truth if they dont get a block allocated to them.
Hi Lee
When i ordered mine (Nov 22) i assumed it came with foglights and wireless charger too, the photos i had seen all showed the front fogs and the reviews on youtube did and also the wireless charger. thats a problem often with youtube reviews. the reviews, looking back are 2 years old now and show the old gear change lever too.
most people say that the wireless charger is very poor and we dont seem to get the fogs like when i was younger. so yes losing out on the cornering lights but thats about it. the blind spot monitor is now a option, would have been nice but thats life 🙁
hope the car goes well for you, we are just hoping that the electric version is ok too, we only do 100 miles a week so the range isnt to important to us (and we got the free home charger)
Hi Lee,
Sorry to hear that your not to happy, the current spec of the GT doesnt have Fog lights at the front, the wireless charger as also been removed from the list as well as the blind spot monitoring, its been that way over a year i believe , when did you order yours? . i did think it had a black roof lining but some people say that it makes the car dark inside so maybe they have gone for grey now???? I will have a look at the current spec sheet and see what that says. we get ours next Wednesday so i am hoping we get the current spec and nothing from that is missing (heated seats, front parking sensors are two i want for sure)
hope these things don’t distract to much from the car for you.
Thanks Kezo, looks like we will get it 🙂
