given bmw put the i3 on before the 1/4 change i wonder if they were trying to preempt some other manufacturers putting evs onto the scheme? there are a few that currently are above the cap, but could they be imminent. given the issues the motor industry are dealing with could we get some benefit from it.
la premiere is a ltd numbered edition, so the ones without the optional sound system have been sold all thats left is the upgraded version. why they made them with the upgrade? someone got their numbers wrong.
i think they made la premiere in advance of orders,so many of each configuration to keep delivery times low but someones messed up and overestimated the demand for the uprated hifi.
purely a personal thing, i dont take or make calls whilst driving.nothing is that important it cant wait until i stop somewhere. ive seen people texting and allsorts whilst driving and you can guarentee like drink drivers if they have an accident it wont be them that are hurt.
what you thought bmw were adding the i3 out of the goodness of their heart lol.
ah right in that case i will defer to the petrolheads they will know better if there are any imminent new models approaching. i am not that up on such matters although personally i would be delighted if the suzuki jimny came on the scheme but i dont think suzuki are allowing many to come to the uk as the last batch sold out straight away. plus its not everyones cup of tea lol.
crystal ball time lol.
i would say if you are set on a particular model speak to the dealer and see if you order now they will adjust the ap if it goes down and honour current ap if it goes up. most will do this that way its win win.
but if youve not made your mind up then your as well waiting if you think something new is imminent.
regardless of brexit or the current tory shenanigans the one thing that is certain as long as corbyn is leader i will never vote labour again.
all he has done throughout the brexit debate is sit on every fence going and refused to articulate what labours policy is, continually manouvering at every opportunity to try and force a general election to get into no 10.
whilst still not admitting what they intend to do or explain what labour policy is or even what it isnt.
i am firmly of the we voted out out we should go, and the politicians job is simply to get the best deal.but leave we must. otherwise whats the point of having a referendum.
at the time i voted remain but i think we have to respect the result and get on with it, i am not in favour of the miniscots idea of lets keep having another referendum until i get the result i want.
stuart make sure its the 120 ah version there were others with a range extender. but that was done away with when they brought out the 120 ah.
lol, are you stalking it elldo?
well done though. in the flesh so to speak.
they need to pass all this on to their dealers, ive just been to chesterfield bmw and i knew more about the i3 and the fact that the charger etc were free than the mota specialist in the showroom. she even had the nerve to say it wont be on long so i need to order quickly yet bmw on here say the opposite. in the end i just gave her the forum address and told her to do her homework and left lol.
went to chesterfield and asked ref white i3 the mota specialist said it was same on the i8 but looking at the website the i8 is arctic white the i3 is copparis white so no further forward i am afraid their i3 was black.i think the one in chesterfield was black but i will ask them if they have a white one and pop over and have a shufty. i like the red but in the bmw picture its almost burgundy but someone posted a picture on another thread and it was a different red alltogether to me so now i am not sure.
brydo,
oh i appreciate the overall environmental cost of an ev is probably a lot less than a standard car its not yet the holy grail some pr types would like you to beleive seeing some of the nonsense they put out.
in fact personally i think the industry could be a lot greener if it tried a bit harder. especially in their choice of materials inside the car etc and reducing the use of plastics which we are bombarded with how bad they are at the moment. the interiours ive seen of the i3 are quite impressive when you compare them to the swathes of plastic in most cars and its great if they are recyclable.
i did see somewhere (if i find it i will link it) that recycled plastic was being used to replace bitumin and tarmac for road surfaces, i think it was only suitable for low usage areas like in housing estates etc it wasnt motorway grade but was a facinating read.
whilst its about time manufacturers of all goods sorted out there recyclability etc they do come out with a load of guff most of the time. and when you dig into the recyclability or not or the sustainability of batteries in particular the left hand usually trumps the right. when you consider the materials used in battery production are quite rare anyway and can only be extracted in very destructive mining practices its difficult to say the i3 is as green as they claim. yes it may mean less emmissions etc but how much of the planet has been destroyed making the batteries.
June 11, 2019 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Can we read anything into the BMW i3 becoming available as it has? #79263it will be interesting to see what else appears on julys list, but its not unusual for cars to appear mid quarter.
the mini will certainly be a hot hatch as its a much smaller platform than the i3 so its obviously going to be quick if its got the same engineering as the i3.
the i3 is ok for people like me who have no need for wheelchairs, walkers etc and have no hangers on such as wives kids etc as is the mini i have the 3dr mini at the moment but my back issues mean its that bit too low now so the i3 will be ideal.
if an ev comes out with a decent sized boot able to take scooters/wheelchairs and seating for the demands of family life then that will be a game changer providing as ever it has a decent range.
and my landlord says hes happy to allow a charger fitted.
filey333,
thats excellant news thats a real saving looking at the prices in the price list.
it puts the i3 right up there on my short list, i just need to be able to keep on as i am for another year ideally to get to lease end then that way assuming prices stay the same or similar with gcb etc the base i3 wont cost me any extra as i am wpms so need to find £900.
i see the search site now has the trim listed now as well.
for me its not a deal breaker as the granny charger through a normal socket charging overnight wouldnt be a bind. and the bmw app for 8 quid a month theres 3 fast chargers near me as well so its not a must have for me at least.
shawn dont forget for most manufacturers motability get metallics free, its only specials paints above metallic you pay the difference between metallic and specials. i like either the red or the black personnally.
and they wonder why we think were treated like 2nd class citizens.
dougieb, your spot on and once you claim its then automatic for subsequent cars, i got a chq at the same time as i got my gcb last time as well as a chq for the difference in allowance as i had extended my lease beyond 3 yrs. that one took a bit of head scratching to work out what it was for.
it is its main drawback for those that need wheelchairs or scooters as aids. i am fortunate that i am not there yet and dont have the need to accomodate wife, children etc so for me its huge lol. lets hope as electric vehicles improve so does the size to accomodate the needs of those that need mechanical assistance.
i sent a request to my landlord to see if he will allow one to be fitted, but if not the granny plug will do me fine as i only go over 50 miles once a fortnight so i should only need to charge once a week.
as far as a motability vehicle goes i think bmw have scored on several points, the most expensive i3s is cheaper than the cheapest zoe, its driving position is higher ok the boot may not be cavernous but the design with the rear doors and flat floor means that for some wheelchair users i reckon you could stow the wheelchair behind the drivers seat. it is far more usable than the smarts. even the basic atelier interiour has heated front seats. the basic sat nav and standard kit is fine i dont see the need to upgrade to the sat nav plus etc.
