the xc60 is no longer on the scheme and was only on for a short while quite why it came on i am not sure.
unless the price of electric vehicles comes down there wont be many coming on the scheme the best deal at the moment if its size suits is the bmw i3 160ish miles range but quite a small boot and only seats 4.
unless a manufacturer discounts something considerably i cant see much arriving soon.
poss an mg?
July 13, 2019 at 10:33 pm in reply to: how does motability work out what cars to make available to lease #82593basically its all down to the daily mail running a campaign against high end cars being available on motability.
so a cap was introduced and the bhp and insurance group is for under 25s because of the cost of insuring them which rocketed a number of years ago.
July 13, 2019 at 3:45 pm in reply to: how does motability work out what cars to make available to lease #82560current caps are –
The maximum on-the-road price is £29,000 for manual cars and £30,500 for automatic models.
The advance payment ceiling is £3,000 for manual and £3,750 for auto models.
There is a maximum of 200 bhp, or 225 bhp for electric vehicles
And then there are the maximum insurance caps –
Car – Petrol 29, Diesel 31
MPV & 4×4’s – Petrol 31, Diesel 38
WAV’s are available outside these parameters.
3dr mini 1.5 cooper chilli 7 auto 43mpg.
you can use the trickle charger in a normal 3 pin socket but its slow and there have been cases where people living in terraced houses parking even directly outside the house have been pulled up by the council for running cables over the pavement. and of course snotty neighbours objecting etc even when people have used the proper cable covers and h&s signs etc.
i would assume so but best to ring them. it would be awkward to have to rely on public chargers depending on the numbers near you. there are very few around here so it would be very difficult without a charger at home.
ive checked with my landlord and he has said i can get one fitted ive just got to try and see out the 12 months left on current lease as i could do with the gcb towards the ap.
not a huge range for a small car.
well i think looking at your list the type of car your looking at your spoilt for choice in the sense theres a lot to go at in the largish suv market. i had a citroen c4 grand picasso auto and it was superb kept it for 4 yrs. ive been looking at small suvs as i too need a higher seat due to lower back issues. ive been looking at the seat arona recently and whilst there i was quite impressed by the seat ateca a lot of kit for not a large ap. as i said the citroen diesel auto impressed me and if the replacement for the c4 grand piccasso whatever it is is as good then its worth a look.
well ive always said hes a puppet chancer just changing with the wind controlled by momentum. throughout the brexit fiasco hes just manouvered and plotted to try and get an election. now he senses that he can push that through by being the remainer.
will never vote labour again.
as far as i know you have to wait for year 3 to tick over. i know mine was ready about a week before and i had to wait. the previous time it didnt matter as i had extended a year.
oh dear, lol i am seriously worried about you lot !
ive not seen a list but as far as paint goes there is usually for most manufacturers the basic colour that they offer free to all, then metallic that they charge for say for example £500, then theres specials different manufacturers call them different things and they charge for example £750.
for motability the basic and metallic is usually free of charge if you want the “special” all you pay is the difference between metallic and special so in this example £250.all manufacturers honour this i beleive.
some manufacturers offer free front and rear sensors for cars that dont have it as standard i think vauxhall and ford do this.
other than that you need to check individual manufacturers websites or get your negotiating skills out with the individual dealer.
hillman imp ! now thats a blast from the past lol, that was my first car i learnt to drive in, in germany on an army base cost dmarks 800 and the were 4 marks to the pound. had a loose battery connection and every now and then would just die. had it for 2 years until i got promoted and could afford to get a duty free golf c brand new on hp. loved that car was brilliant even when we had 2ft of snow.
thats what i like about them i had a 2nd hand vitara 3dr swb auto for a couple of years, it was about the size of a jimny is now and it was great. no frills as you say no flash screens etc but bombproof and went anywhere. the only tech i use is satnav and a usb for music the rest i can live without.i love the fact that they do 4wd with auto, in the past hardly anyone else did. the vitara has grown in size now so is too big for me but if came to it i would have one no problem.
noel, thats a very good question and one i would be interested in seeing the answer. i think it would be very interesting to see what we all go for. i wonder if we requested it they would reply. so long as we werent asking for private info there wouldnt be any privacy issues i wouldnt have thought. a straight forward breakdown by model and manufacturer shouldnt fall foul of any laws i wouldnt have thought.
magnum mike, yes i know its annoying that suzuki will only allow 12-1500 to come to the uk each year as they cant meet demand at home. a real shame as it would be ideal for people like me that need a higher seating position but dont need a huge car. if it was all about price i would go for another suzuki the ignis its auto reasonable spec and not too big but its awful lol. but theyve got a year to get their act together so lets hope.
i live in derbyshire, the roads are like being offroad sometimes lol.
with the decent range in the i3 i could live with the bmw and my landlord says i can install a charger so its a possibility.
i just need a higher seating position next time as my backs gone but i dont need loads of seats or boot space so apart from the mazda 6 they are the smaller suvs that fit the bill.ive got a year to cut the list down so when i get back from my hols in september i will start booking extended test drives, mini and bmw do 2 day ones.
in the meantime i am hoping the suzuki jimny comes on the scheme as that will be nil ap i would imagine.
ford and vauxhall both used to fit sensors free to motability cars, i have seen a tag line on a couple of sites when ive been searching that give them, not sure who though, i will make a note next time and put it on here.
sorry brydo, i could handle a seperate limit for ev’s but to have a 60k limit for normal cars is not needed.
i do think the limit should be reveiwed annually though as prices do seem to go up far more quickly.which given the reduction in sales at the moment is a bit suprising.
blimey tomas something we agree on lol.
very nice i like those alloys.
many years ago vw were the same the basic car didnt even have a radio cassette in those days, you then had to go through an absoluteley huge options list to get it up to the spec you wanted.
quite afew now are going for the packs option, i am fortunate in that so long as its got a sat nav and a sound system that can take my music usb the rest is just window dressing. anything else is a that would be nice rather than a must have.
one thing motability ought to insist on is that for motability individual options should be allowed at a discount if they are needed for someones disability. i am lucky in that i still have a reasonable amount of movement but someone said that their ability to look around and veiw blind spots was hampered by their disability so cameras etc were a great help for them so the ability to add that on its own rather than getting a higher spec car or buying an expensive pack would be better.
definateley coming around to getting a white car next time.
yours is the 3rd or forth ive seen on here recently that looks fab in white.
glad you enjoyed the road trip lol.
once i have drawn up my short list of contenders for my next vehicle i always search for other options outside of motability but so far other than buying a second hand vehicle until this time i havent found a cheaper alternative.
what puts me off the 2nd hand route is a total lack of mechanical knowledge or expertise i would be more comfortable if i could at least problem solve in an emergancy or maybe self service but i cant, also by the time you add in rescue services etc and servicing and insurance, tyres etc the saving isnt huge unless you go for something over 5 years old.
private leases esp with servicing etc included are usually more expensive by some way. although i did find one this week for a jeep renegade one of my short list although only the longitude version it was £249 down and £249 a month for a 4 year lease with 8k miles. that works out about £40 a month less than my wpms. but youve got to insure it etc. so £40 aint going to hack it. and at the end of the lease they are going to be a lot fussier than motability about scuffs and dings and they are not going to give me a gcb chq.
it may be my choice of cars but i cant find a cheaper alternative to motability for any of my shortlist which are:
bmw i3 atellier ap £897.
jeep rengade 1.6 ltd auto ap £593.
jeep rengade 2.0 4wd trailhawk ap £893.
mini countryman cooper s exclusive auto £74.
mazda cx3 2.0 sport nav+ 4wd ap £397.
mazda 6 2.0 skyactive g sel nav+ ap £97. not sure if i can get in and out of this so need to see it in the flesh yet.
double the price cap lol what on earth would the ap be on that. double the 6k of the current high ap for a car, so 12k can you imagine what the mail will make of that! if someone can afford a 12k ap they hardly need the scheme.
