yes i know, i think it was his keenness that put me off a bit if you know what i mean. i am not used to reps allowing you to order before the window opens plus i am a suspicious sod.
i think i will let things cool a bit next week then have another word with the landlords if i havent pissed them off totally.
maybe see if they will put it behind the back gate, its a lot closer to the front and would be suitable for either side of the bungalow with an extention cable.you cant open the gate from this side only from the back garden side so should address their concerns ref access.
January 23, 2026 at 11:42 am in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #334170ok we have a winner as far as comfort and everything goes, its a bad back and knees day so i was very suprised at how comfortable the ev4 was even at 60 on our crap roads. the seats are great with electic adj and electric lumbar adj and the head rests are next level adj fore and aft as well as up/down very nice. the sound system is excellant to my ears and as the car is so quiet anyway it just envelopes you, would be great on a long journey.
the kia rep was keen to sign me up to order even before the 28th feb so they must have some kia targets to hit.
i made the excuse that i wanted to do another test drive on the mini. but i dont think i need to, electric wise i think its the winner and has an extra 80 miles of claimed range which would be handy if i am restricted to public charging.
i will wait and see what mg and citroen comeback with regarding the ap’s and extras but unless they can get to zero i think its the ev4 in magma red or black.
thanks all for your advice and input.
January 22, 2026 at 10:00 am in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #334125i hate housing authorities and councils.
its always no you cant.
god i hate days like today nippy and persisting down, when its not pouring its just sort of foggy wet drizzly stuff and it just eats into your bones. had to go out for annual blood tests and its 20m to the car roughly and i was in bits by the time i got there. definateley want heated seats in the next one lol.
my nissan dealer after the service send you a video of them doing the health check and run through any advisorys.
January 21, 2026 at 2:29 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #333046well i told them a socket at the back was a.no good. b. the fuse box and meter is the other side of the house practically on the front wall so they would need to go through the entire house somehow. depending where they put it it would double the cable run almost. shortest would be i suppose if they drill through the kitchen wall and put it as close to the fenceline as possible it would be 10 m on top of the 20 to the kerb.
would they tap into an existing socket in the kitchen or bedroom?
if kitchen they could go close to the right rear corner but the bedroom is another 10m from that corner.
it is crackers i am going to write to them as to my way of thinking its max 1ft through the wall next to the fuse box max 2ft of cable effectively on its own circuit there are spares as you can see from the previous photos.
probabley half an hours work.if they have to cable from the fuse box to the rear in a straight line thats 6m but they would have to go up into the roof space i assume along and down.
bonkers.
January 21, 2026 at 1:42 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #333040thats it i thought for ease, or wold the component parts be cheaper?
@cb2011 i am drilling a hole in the wall or at least making an old arial hole bigger.January 21, 2026 at 12:50 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332771hi @kezo,
been looking online what do you think of these:
toughleads.co.uk website.
granny charger 25m 290.99.
ev granny charger extension cable 2m i thought remove plug push cable through wall refit plug and fsten socket to outside wall. relatively simple 2m of cable to play with.
i thought reasonable prices. i would need to check distance measurements.
just thought it would be a simple fix.
January 20, 2026 at 10:13 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332757i think i am going to push ahead with prepping for electric as the sneaky solutions kezo has i reckon will work fine. i have access to some trade accounts through people i still do some bookkeeping for so i can call in the odd favour a couple of them are sparks.
so long as we dont interfere with the main electrics it will be fine, i dont want to piss the landlord off unduly.
the xt cable work around will save any draughts and actually work better as i will control the power from inside so if its off at the mains socket the outside socket wont have power so no one can nick power.
once i decide which car i will order on 28th feb to guarentee the 0ap as i cant see the mini or the ev4 remaining 0 for long. if anything goes pearshaped i can revisit the hs nearer may if there are stock car deals.
i dont want to sit and wait nearer to may because i just think it could all go pete tong.
i will still have a word with the citroen guy next week when hes back just to see if the price of the hybrid could reduce as its mpg is a touch better than the hs just in case.
who would have thought 4 months ago i would have 4 viable options with a month to go.
will need the 0 ap as my bloody laptop is makin some very strange noises, so looks like thats going to be an unexpected expence. at least ive got a smaller reserve just in case.
if its a standard 3 year lease you only get the gcb £250 if you complete the 3 years.you can apply to swap early but they will charge you £250 and you wont get gcb double wammy it would need to be a very good deal to do that.
January 20, 2026 at 4:40 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #33273428 feb for 30 may del.
also theres a disused arial lead that goes through the wall wont have to drill just remove it and pull it through with the cable attached lol.
the current deal is effectively stock cars for march delivery.

January 20, 2026 at 4:30 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332730interesting reply from chesterfield mg not a phone call but an email with a video of him talking in front of an hs, different but the offer is for cars delivered this quarter. but do i want to order an mg if the offer is not going to be renewed. i dont want to sit and wait to order really because of the impending vat etc i would rather have a firm deal on 28feb for may del.still he did say they could do a deal for the brown leather wether i would get the rest as cashback hes waiting on an answer for that lol.
January 20, 2026 at 3:51 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332729i like it.
theres a socket on the side wall next to the hedgeline. the wall running up to the side gate to the back garden.
January 20, 2026 at 3:44 pm in reply to: Motability Deals & Special Offers Q1 2026 (1st January 2026 to 31st March 2026). #332727well that has totally confused the chesterfield mg motability rep. he has no idea how the discounts apply to wpms so i gave him the idea of free brown faux leather or cashback for the 699 discount less the wpms ap of £47. not sure if he took in all the implications but we will see. he said he would come back to me, lets see.
January 20, 2026 at 3:22 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332722its a set back in that i would have to run the lead in through a front window,it would reduce the cable run a little as theres a window over towards the hedgeline whereas the outside socket would have been 10m further accross. there is a small top window so even with it open noone could get in that way so securitywise it would be ok. not great in winter draught wise.
although bigdave posted a chesterfield mg offer where theyre giving 699 off the mghstrophy i am waiting for a call back from them, i had the test drive with sheffield in the end lol.so that could be fun.
still going to have the test in the ev4 on friday.
its a council house mark so i dont think its allowed.
i am going to write to the rykneld ceo and let them know what i think.
January 20, 2026 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Motability Deals & Special Offers Q1 2026 (1st January 2026 to 31st March 2026). #332717January 20, 2026 at 2:08 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332711unreal the sparks have rung back, basically they will only put an outside socket at the back of the bungalow the furthest point away from the fuse box and meter.
so the only way to run a lead to the car will be to put it through the front window into a standard wall socket.
@kezo is that safe?January 20, 2026 at 1:56 pm in reply to: Motability Deals & Special Offers Q1 2026 (1st January 2026 to 31st March 2026). #332710thanks @bigdave possibly i will ring and ask it may just get the tan fauxleather at least. as electric has just had a set back as they will only put an ouutside socket in the rear of the bungalow.
January 19, 2026 at 11:18 am in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332502the enyaq i do like the cognac but unfortunateley i am being strict on budget and anyway i do like the citroen and mini interiors and we will see how we go with the ev4 i like the idea of a hatchback and will have a proper play with the screens as you say the configoration being able to move the veiws around would be handy.ive worked out a satnav route for it so i can see how that works and i have a usb adapter for the music, so i am actually looking forward to that one. and if i like the screens it may bring the hs up the list.
not bad considering 4 months ago the only option really was the juke in a way i am now spoilt for choice and the electric options are down to you guys help and pointers. so thanks again.
January 19, 2026 at 4:40 am in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332491yep i know kezo but it is not just about the basics is it like winston says sometimes it is about the fun or putting a smile on your face where are those cars. unfortunateley we are not allowed those or like the jcw they cost the earth. i know hardly any manufacturer makes them any more but wheres the ragtops lol.
something a little bit out there would be good.
mini at least do try with their interiors. the rest are just clones. the screens in the ev4 are i swear are identical to the mg hs one long unit split into 3 one infront of the driver a small 5″ climate screen and then the main screen.citroens dash is a bit different with the drivers screen set higher almost like a hud. and the dash is mostly fabric like the mini its just nice to see something different.
any way its 4.30 and i am up with cramps so excuse the rant.
January 18, 2026 at 9:55 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332486ok back to basics lol
obv i want to pay as little as possible who doesnt.
so search for self charging hybrid 0 ap comes up with one candidate really that i can fit in:
honda 1.5ehev advance 0 ap £84.83 52.30 mpg. has all the toys.
increase to £250 max and we get
mg hs hybrid + trophy £47 t/a 51.83mpg and
toyota yaris cross icon £73 £86.00 62.80mpg but poverty spec.
not exactly inspiring apart from the mg.
so for a self charging hybrid that ticks the boxes i would have to put my hand in my pocket.
whereas even allowing for the potential faff of charging you have to say you get more bang for your buck in my financial situation by going electric. especially if you want some of the nice to haves.
admitedley the honda does have them all. but its a bit bland. whereas some of the electrics do have something.

January 18, 2026 at 8:33 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332482ah thanks kezo i will check it out.
the teslas at east midlands designer outlet give me another “destination” charge option along with dobbies as an option although again the other spending may negate any conveniance or cost saving but good to have the option. lol.
the ev database is interesting esp the long journey bit and the actual capacities. i suppose purely on numbers it would be ev4,mini,c3 aircross in order.
January 18, 2026 at 7:16 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332477thanks guys, i didnt think about the c3/aircross as an electric. duh.
neither local toyota has an urban cruiser yet in the showroom so cant see one yet.
i will redo the spreadsheet with those reccomendations.
@woodpecker thanks for that i have relatives and old freinds in mansfield used to live there so i will check that out could be handy when i am down that way.January 18, 2026 at 1:51 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332456mini monochrome/mg hs hybrid+trophy joint first
citroen c3 aircross if i can do a deal on price and today bigdave has put up a leics offer on his thing.
ev4 depending on test drive as it has another 100 miles of range roughly.
i would say they are now the contenders, the top 2 are bigger than i have now which may be sensible if i get to need a chair/scooter.
price is the drawback on the citroen 627 for the 5 seater 397 for the 7 seater go figure.leics offer -250.
ev4 and the top 2 are effectively 0ap.
i am leaning toward electric with the hedgerow plan lol.
one test drive to go then either make a decision or maybe ditch motability and become a recluse lol.
January 18, 2026 at 12:19 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #332445yes i do like kezo’s hedgeline plan. easy to set up and secure, i have loads of u shaped stakes i use with the weedproof membrane i put down in the back.
the outdoor socket i looked at has a lockable cover.
so it would be a 5 minute setup even with my back and knees.
just need to pick a car lol.
