That’s what VW do – just charge you for the difference

When I had a breakdown at night the car hire company opened at 11pm to give me a car to keep me mobile, arranged by the AA who were then the breakdown cover and I then continued my journey ; if you’re stranded the RAC should be arranging transport. If you’re home you may be snookered until the morning, when I had an accident on a Sunday afternoon the hire car appeared at the front door at 9 on the Monday. Good luck!

Yep a friend of mine couldn’t get comfortable in his Mini, rang them and they told him to just go and find another car, he settled on a bigger Peugeot and they sorted it all out and he lost very little money in the process. Happens to quite a few so they’re used to it.

A couple of areas to consider:

    1. Take the Motability deal if you qualify, it is the cheapest scheme going by far for an all in package and realively hassle free if you can fight your corner when they get a bit hissy which they do regularly; if then you lose the benefit at any stage you will have the option to buy the vehicle for a very good price instead of handing it back, financing this through a bank loan is far cheaper than PCP interest rates in general.

    2. Join CARWOW and configure the vehicle you want, this will show you pretty much the maximum discount you can get for PCP or Buy, it’s also a bargaining tool to stick nicely under your preferred dealers nose if they’re not on the list.

I obviously don’t know your precise circumstances so there are some ideas; there are also some 0% PCP finance deals about (including Vauxhall on some models), but always negotiate a discount before announcing you want the car on finance, that’s where CARWOW shines by showing the same discount for both.

    Good luck! 🙂

4 Suggestions for your call Start 12:

    1. Fit a weaker spring to the button

    2. Fit the old style gear knob if compatable (they are available from BMW spares)

3.Make an adaption for the gear knob for to press the button.

    4. As suggested ask for an electronic gear shift adaption to be fitted. There are a few adaption firms who work for Motability and that is Motability’s job to find the adaption that’ll work for you so don’t hesitate to ask them to sort this out and work out how you can keep the car you ordered with the options you want. Be nice about it but put the ball firmly in their court to keep you mobile and don’t accept second best – it’s their job to do what’s best for you, something they conveniently forget regularly when they’re totting up their non-contributory final salary scheme pensions and free private healthcare; but don’t get me started…

Good luck, maybe ask the Mods to move your posts onto a new topic as I’d like to see how you get on, we’re all rooting for you.

Popped into VW Salisbury to sit in a T-Roc to see what my back thought – ok there so will go for a test drive of the SEL sometime. Build times are currently between 8 and 12 weeks which is good if they stay that way.  Same for the Golf.

Yes, my account manager has T-Roc on his list as appearing this month. He knows that the pricing team had asked VW for prices at all trim levels but doesn’t know what the end result was. Seeing the price of the Volvo I’m not holding my breath.

Wow that was a bad car, just reading it made my hair stand on end, the thought of driving something so unreliable would make me ill – well good luck with your next choice I bet you will check the makes for reliability!

The T-Roc is still being finalised and I was told today is down appear in April. But having seen the models and pricing of the XC40 I’m not holding my breath for much choice initially.

Thanks for that fwipperie, my account manager who is high up in the pension chain had a diary entry to call me a week ago to update me on forthcoming changes to 4×4 availability and he hasn’t so I think that you’re right as he is so efficient. In theory though the site would normally be updated today because of the Easter weekend but on this occasion they might well get a teccy in for Sunday or even leave it till Tuesday – time will tell!

Good news, my account manager is due to call me this week about which T-Roc models will be offered as he said last month they were negotiating at all trim levels, the Volvo XC40 is a bonus as I’d been considering that on self pay as they give ex-military a generous discount and freebies on PCP.

Yes the pricing team are working on all three levels of T-Roc trim being in the next quarter.
