A tale of 2 different experiences with dealerships.
First experience was with Mercedes Benz Bristol, pre booked a test drive in a Smart#1 online and with a week’s notice. Confirmed via by them via email.
Roll on to the day of the test drive and an hours journey, to find that they had given the car to a salesperson to take home on their rest day. This took them an hour to tell me, obviously not impressed but out of my hands. Salesperson was apologetic and TBH not his fault. I declined to return on another date, once bitten twice shy.Second experience at Mercedes Benz Poole. Started on a good foot, they had a car to test drive! The whole experience was very pleasant, carried out professionally by Ian the salesperson. I was allowed the car for 3 hours on my own. On my return, an ample supply of coffee and biscuits were provided. At no point did I feel that I was being treated any differently to the usual retail customer. I even got a free boot liner thrown in, so order placed.
As others have said, if you have not received a good level of customer service, try another dealer. For me it has meant a 4 hours round trip, but I feel was well worth it.

Might revisit the Mini Countryman E but in Executive trim. Sport trim with 19” wheels made it a very harsh ride.
February 2, 2026 at 12:10 pm in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #337316I have test driven, both the EV4 and Countryman E sport. I had the Countryman for 24 hours, I found the seats really uncomfortable and the ride of the car to be very twitchy, both myself and the wife felt we were bouncing around. It could have been the 19” wheels and the firm setup!
The EV4 on the other hand was by far the smoothest and most comfortable ride, I have experienced in an EV.

@mitch, I found the seating position to be ok, seat lowered and still plenty of headroom. Being on the tall side normally gives me a elevated driving position😂
Test drive went well today, very smooth drive and it glides over pot holes!
Easy access, bags of room in the rear, I am 6”4 and still lots of room behind my seat. Tech is on point and 388 miles with a fair wind and a warm day.As previously stated, it’s a steal! This will be my third EV and definitely a couple of notches above my previous vehicles. I for one will be ordering later in Q1.

I am test driving the EV4 tomorrow, I will also look at the EV3. I have the car for 2 hours, so I should get a good feel for it. Hopefully it stays at this AP until I can place an order in the last week of March!
January 8, 2026 at 2:05 am in reply to: revisiting options renault symbioz, cupra formentor ,nissan quashqai #326812@mitch I would go with whatever car has put a smile on your face. I am testing the countryman sport e on Monday and the EV4 on Tuesday.
I have to agree with above thoughts, I am now on my 2nd EV, without a home charger I wouldn’t even entertain the idea of an EV.
Good luck with your car search and getting back into the gym.@mitch I agree all have electric tailgates, but I am pretty sure the HUD is not standard on all models, I just had a sit in an countryman sport electric and the Hud comes as an extra in one of the option packs.
I feel your pain, I am in the same boat, my window opens the last week of March. Fingers crossed the EV4 remains on for the full quarter. If not plan B will be the electric countryman, going to the dealership today to see how it suits my needs.
Happy New Year and thank you for all your efforts.
Well that’s myself moving away from EV’s, due to order after Xmas and the way the AP’s have jumped, has basically priced me out of the market, and the removal of suitable vehicles hasn’t helped. The car I currently have on lease is an EV and would have been more than happy to stay with another.
I will go back to a petrol vehicle probably a XC40, I will ask for an early termination and take the hit, so at least I can have a vehicle that fits my needs, before they push up the AP’s again.

Great colour.
I am due to order my next car in March 26. The Ioniq 6 is top of my list, advance payment for War pensioner is great value, the 6 is having a facelift with the rear spoilers now becoming just one smaller spoiler. New front lights and a couple of minor tweaks. I have everything crossed it’s still available next year. I took it for a test drive and it’s lovely to drive and very comfortable. Way better than my Megane e and my previous ID3. Good luck with your search.
