Possibly some people may be better off paying the penalty to end their lease early to order the next car at the old prices before they rise later in the year?
Especially for a car with a high AP!
Looks like Motability are still waiting for the government to add the Kia PV5 to the list of WAVs eligible for the WAV Electric Vehicle Grant.
But the Kia PV5 is eligible for the the £1500 passenger Electric Vehicle Grant or a £5000 cargo Electric Vehicle Grant. Feels like a £3500 window tax ! Unfortunately that the cargo version will not be on the Motability scheme.
Looks like advance details to be formally announced soon?
The Park Motor Group in Scotland is advertising the KIA PV5 on Motability for £2999 AP for the Essential trim or £4999 for the Plus Trim.
Yesterday the Government Gov.uk website published a consultation on reform to mobility scooter legislation. Comments requested by 31 March 2026.
Question 14 in this document asks for views on increasing the mobility scooter speed limit.
There are also other questions, for example allowing mobility scooters in cycle lanes or allowing 2 person tandem mobility scooters .
There is also a question on using e-cycles as mobility aids. My wife can cycle but not walk. So it would be great if her e-trike qualified for a mobility VAT exemption and if she could legally use it on the pavement or other areas where cycles are currently banned.
Also it would be great if the Class 3 mobility scooter width limit could be increased to at least 1 metre to provide better off-road stability. My wife’s off-road e-trike is 0.985 metres wide with wide tyres and it is much more stable than her previous 0.84 meter wide version with narrower tyres.
Is the KIA PV5 WAV variant the first purpose built WAV since the Invacar?
