      Thanks @joss!

        Thank you @kezo @jojoe @Phaedra @Callmejohn

        Reading the above replies i quickly went from being beside myself with worry about this very unexpected bill to cool calm and collected about the whole thing.

        As @Callmejohn has pointed out £158pw cannot be correct. If it is correct then i’ll be heading to Debtors Jail because there’s zero chance of me being able to pay that debt.

        @jojoe
        & @Phaedra pointing out that the Care Agency may have continued to bill SSD for care that they were no longer providing allowed me to sigh a gigantic sigh of relief because if correct that hopefully puts me in the clear

        @kezo
        Unfortunately my memory isn’t what it used to be which means i cannot recall when i terminated the agency or even when i informed SSD that i’d fired said agency. You comment has though served to highlight that keeping records of stuff like that can save a world of worry further on down the line, so thank you.

          Received a speed awareness course offer from Surrey Police.

          I’ve signed up for the first available spot at Lingfield race course commencing 9th January.

          Cost £92.00p

            Last month i had two heart attacks. I also crashed my new Ford Kuga – the day after picking it up from the dealer. And i got busted by a speed camera meaning after decades of driving i’ve now picked up my first ever ticket.

            In April i saw a cat get squished by a truck (i’ve had nightmares about that)

            Oh and i somehow managed to misplace our kettle – which the wife subsequently found in the fridge (another worrying indication of my early onset sadly…)

            SUMMARY:

            After all of my own woe’s in 2023 i still wouldn’t swap my year with your year @MFillingham!

            Keep your chin up friend.

              Some folks might conclude that the BBC and Motability Ops have some parallels because both organisations reward their top executives handsomely.

                          Only time i would consider buying my current Motability car (if there remained an option to buy at lease end) would be if it was heavily discounted. Why heavily discounted? well, because i know for a fact that the current driver thinks he’s Max Verstappen and has been giving it some serious welly so its likely to be shot to hell in 3yrs

                            Same story with travel insurance.

                            Three choices:

                            1) tell the truth about one’s health conditions and get refused cover or receive an eye watering quote.

                            2) lie about one’s various health conditions then be guilt ridden for the duration of your holiday.

                            3) have your holiday in the UK.

                            One time many years ago i went with option 2 for a long weekend break in Prague but the guilt trip ruined that experience. Nowadays its either UK holidays or a bank loan to pay for travel insurance.

                                      Good morning @Menorca Mike

                                      According to celebritynetworth.com Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor’s net worth is somewhere north of £10m quid.

                                      Not bad for a lad from the potteries that left school at 16 who then spent most of his early working life making toilet roll handles.

                                          As a footy fanatic i’ve gotta say @Brydo gets the win after all he’s got Fergie, Dalgleish, Souness, Mcleish, Strachan, Barnes + Grobbellar in his list.

                                          If i wasn’t a footy nut then it’d be a clear win for @kezo because his son married into a star’s family namely Phil ‘the power’ Taylor (the greatest darts player that’s ever lived)

                                                4) Brian Clough – best England manager . . . we never had.
