Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I dont even have one office base. I live in south Wales and we have offices in south, west, mid and north Wales. my presence at offices is demand led so do I predict worst case scenario and base it on the office furthest away from me? its bonkers!! My closest office is 10 miles away, my furthest office is 200 miles away…..

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24With the help of Gemini AI, I put a scenario of someone travelling 16000 miles a year- higher than the 10,000 limit because of work.
Here is the response which is clear but detailed
Under the new Motability rules, the standard annual mileage allowance has dropped to 10,000 miles per year. Since you cover 16,000 miles, you are looking at an overage of 6,000 miles. Without support, the new excess charge is 25p per mile, which would cost you £1,500 a year.
However, because you use your car for work (employment), you can apply for their Additional Mileage Support.
Here is how their calculation works for a work-based application:
1. The 3,000-Mile Threshold
Motability assumes your standard 10,000-mile allowance should cover everyday life plus your first 3,000 miles of work travel. Because of this, support only kicks in for work-related miles above 3,000 miles per year.2. How the Discount Scales
If your case is approved, they look strictly at your total work miles and reduce the excess rate for those miles using a two-tier system:The First 5,000 Extra Work Miles (3,001 to 8,000 miles): The excess charge drops from 25p down to 10p per mile.
Anything Beyond That (8,001+ work miles): The excess charge drops to 0p per mile.
What this means for your 16,000 miles
Your exact savings depend entirely on how much of your 16,000 miles is purely for work. For example, if 8,000 miles of your total are for commuting or work business:
The first 3,000 work miles are covered under your standard allowance.
The remaining 5,000 work miles qualify for the discounted 10p rate instead of 25p.
The rest of your personal miles that spill over the 10,000 cap still cost 25p.
If your work mileage is even higher—say 12,000 miles of your total:3,000 miles count as standard.
5,000 miles are charged at the 10p rate. (£500 in total)
The final 4,000 work miles trigger the 0p rate (entirely free excess miles).2024 Skoda Enyaq estate- 85x Sportline plus in Race Blue. Extras: Supernova 21 inch wheels, Maxx Pack, Transport Pack, Heat Pump and Pano Sunroof.
Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I think it says that for the first 5000 miles you pay 10p per mile and then anything above that is free? Its really confusing me!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24June 30, 2026 at 7:44 pm in reply to: We’ve left Motability – Tips for others considering leaving #370979thank you! Ive checked my award with PIP today on gov onelogin and it appears they have extended my award by 2 years to 2029(they haven’t told me yet though by means of a letter in the post!) which means I will be able to get a motability car after my current lease ends BUT I doubt it very much I will do because the mileage clause on new leases means I will be penalised for working essentially because of commuting distance. I want to see if my supplying dealer will be able to purchase my current lease car from motability instead of it going to auction. If they can, I will buy it from them as it’s been great and in many ways been a dream car for me. I dont need a new vehicle- I am very grateful for what I have.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24ive seen lots of the pro models have issues with water ingress behind the front panel screen. You dont need the screen in my optioning. The pod is simpler and I believe more reliable.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24careful driver here but all tyres replaced at 11000 – kick fit said its absolutely not unusual for the enyaq and with it being 4 wheel drive. I am likely to need a new set again before the end of the lease which is March next year. I am leaving the scheme after that to go with a salary sacrifice rom work where I dont have to worry about this. Others may disagree but it’s a known issue with enyaq tyres from factory thatchy are made from butter. hopefully replacement continentals will last longer otherwise the new owner is looking at a £1000 bill every year if they cover more than 12000 miles!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24Ive decided that unless there is a loosening of these restrictions then I will leave at end of lease so I can get the good condition bonus. If I can find the car after it goes through auction, I will buy it- otherwise I have access to storage a salary sacrifice scheme so will take that route. Motability is no longer for the masses- the government have won!!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I am not sure why I look forward to seeing new quarter pricing as ive decided to leave the scheme too. I will let the last year of this lease run but my relationship with motability will sadly end next march. This is my first car too. The constant threats and let downs and the lure of a salary sacrifice scheme mean weighing the options up, I will leave knowing I have a high mileage allowance, no email threats on tyre usage, overseas use if I need it, servicing sorted and a tax break on my salary. Thank you UK government as you’ve eroded a fantastic scheme to a point where it will only support those who have no choice but to use it and be dictated to.
The perverse thing being that I will still get the same payments made to me but tax free to my bank account while then paying less tax to uk gov because of the salary sacrifice rules. It feels like I am cheating the state but the reality is they have cheated all of us.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I didn’t expect Copilot to make such a difference, but it’s become a bit of a lifesaver. It keeps me organised by flagging the emails I’ve missed and helping me prep for the day’s meetings before they even start. It’s not a magic fix, but it definitely takes the weight off.
The best part is how it helps with my communication. I’m currently using it to draft a speech for an upcoming interview. I tend to ramble when I’m explaining my experiences, so I’m using the AI to help me sharpen my message and stay professional. It’s all about knowing how to ask it the right questions.
I asked Gemini your question but refined the input and I think its response it not bad at all:
It looks like the Omoda 9 has only just arrived in the UK, with the order books having opened very recently (late January 2026) and first deliveries expected around May 2026.
While it isn’t on the official Motability price list for Q1 (January–March), here is the lowdown on its likelihood and what the current “Omoda landscape” looks like for the scheme:
Will it come to Motability?
The Price Barrier: The Omoda 9 has an “On The Road” (OTR) price starting around £44,990. Historically, Motability has a “soft cap” on the list price of cars they include, usually around £35,000–£40,000, though they do occasionally make exceptions for high-spec EVs or PHEVs.The Trend: Omoda has been very aggressive with Motability. The Omoda 5 is already on the scheme with a £0 Advance Payment, and the electric E5 is also available.
Likely Timeline: Since the car is only reaching showrooms in May, it’s unlikely to appear before the Q3 (July) or Q4 (October) price lists. Motability generally waits for a car to have stable stock levels in the UK before adding it to the scheme.
Why it’s worth the wait (if it makes the cut)
If it does join the scheme, it will be one of the most tech-heavy cars available. It’s a “Super Hybrid” (PHEV) with some impressive stats that fit the Motability lifestyle well:Massive Range: It has a 90+ mile electric-only range, which is huge for a hybrid.
Luxury as Standard: It includes things that usually cost extra, like ventilated/massaging seats and a massive 25.6-inch curved screen.
Accessibility: It’s a large SUV with a 660-litre boot—ideal if you have a wheelchair or large mobility aids.
What to do now
Check the Q2 List: The next Motability price list comes out on 1st April. It’s worth a look, but don’t be surprised if the Omoda 9 isn’t there yet due to those May delivery dates.Keep an eye on the Jaecoo 7: Jaecoo is Omoda’s sister brand and is also launching now. Their models are often priced slightly differently and might pop up on the scheme sooner.
Chat with a Dealer: Omoda is currently expanding its UK dealer network (over 70 sites now). If you have one nearby, ask their Motability specialist specifically if they’ve had any “internal bulletins” about the 9.
Would you like me to keep an eye on the official Motability search for you and let you know if the price limits change in April?2024 Skoda Enyaq estate- 85x Sportline plus in Race Blue. Extras: Supernova 21 inch wheels, Maxx Pack, Transport Pack, Heat Pump and Pano Sunroof.
Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I have exemption on my private car. I told the dealership at time of purchasing but I was a bit worried at 12 months in that I hadn’t had a renewal. I called motability who said the car has been registered with disabled tax- technically not legal I think. They made the change though and this year ive had the renewal through for the motability car which ive paid. So you shouldn’t have any issues.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/2411,000 on mine and kiwi fit had t replace them all as they were low. in their words [after I said I was astonished].”we see wear like this all the time in electric cars”. I am awaiting my warning email from motability that ive used up half of my tyre quota…
Yesterday I had the 12v warning on the dash flash up saying visit the workshop but it then went off. I checked dthe app for the cars health and it said it wa s”all good”… Wish I had taken a photo as the dealership for sure will say they cant replicate the fault. Meanwhile, I am still having issues with kessy etc. My strategy to try and keep the 12v battery topped up by scheduling auto climate twice a day has now worked unfortunately..
Oh well!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24you have options I guess- hire car from motability or them agreeing taxi if suitable. I am almost 6ft and the kamiq was fine for me as a courtesy car. My dealer only provide those or fabia. They don’t provide electric which is their probative I guess ut they are missing a trick in my opinion. I must call my dealer to book mine in for its service and suggest they have a courtesy available. I will ask them to look at the battery also but I am resigned to live with it as it is with 12 months left. Ive considered handing back early but it would be a triple loss of the AP, GC payment and the extras I paid for. Still undecided if I will attempt to buy it after it is sold by motability (if I can find it) but my employers salary sacrifice scheme I think looks like a viable option for me at this stage on my life which is more flexible than motability. Tyres for example- no limits on the number which relieves anxiety. Mileage is tailorable and whatever vehicle I go for, no deposit. Keeping an eye on this duty tax too and if the UKG make another U turn as I may go hybrid next if I dont buy the Enyaq.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24have the acknowledged and 12v battery fault or has this been overlooked because of this terribly common issue where version 5 bricks the car?

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24Ive managed to find a workaround for my 12v battery issue. I have scheduled every day at 2:00am for climate to come on. It does so for 30 minutes and then the car goes back to sleep. It seems to charge the 12v battery when active as every morning ive woken up since, the app is fine and all of my 12v issues are no longer present. I have everything like Kessy working again now.
The passenger heated seat which so many people have had replaced (ironically at a time when they have 12v issues) is solved by taking out the heated seat fuse and infotainment fuse and then putting them back in again.
I am happy to keep doing this as I am done with faffing around with dealerships.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I don’t know if its in any of the rest of the MEB platform (inc Audi, VW and Ford) but definitely its a common and persistent problem with Skoda. Mine has had camera modules replaced and seat base replaced when all the time, where was nothing wrong with the parts, it was the 12v battery failing. It doesn’t matter if you take it for a long drive either, it still looses charge and the car doesn’t sustain the battery.
Skoda have a big issue on their hands for warranty claims that are ongoing but they will be rubbing their hands together after the warranty period on these cars as some of the issues need them to reset the car- thats a trip to the workshop, diagnostics and labour charges…. Its terrible.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24ive managed to solve the heated seat by taking the fuses out today and replacing (advice given on other forums). Ive set pre heating to come on automatically every morning via the car itself and not the app. Mine will be in for a service in April – I hope it can hang on until then a is cant be bothered with the same rigmarole as last year!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24less than 12 months after having my passenger heated seat replaced (wasnt activating when pressing the seat heating button and dealer ‘diagnosed’ a faulty seat base), and having my 12v battery replaced because of battery protection mode, lack of keyless entry and every other common issue seen when eh battery fails I these cars…… I work up this morning to batter protection, no keyless entry and guess what, passenger heated seat no longer working. Sadly it’s a hugely common issue on the Enyaq and dealers are fobbing us off with excuses.
Its very ironic that the issue arises in the cold weather- when you want remote climate and stuff like heated seats!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I’m sitting in Kwik Fit now and the technician has just shouted out to the fitters “the Skoda has been approved”. 11,000 miles covered- I’m a careful driver and never needed 4 tyres so early in a cars life . It’s either the compound(Bridgestone), the fact is a heavy EV, that they are 21 inch wheels or there’s something wrong with the alignment. I sent Motability a message ahead of my visit to tell them I was worried. I had no response. Motability has gone so far down in my expectations – when I will no doubt get this email, I will need to control my grumpiness and send them a stern message because I am not paying for tyres on this lease. The can come and collect the car and take it back!!

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I am leaving after this lease too partly because of the decision not to extend or buy but mostly because I think its been done in e very underhand way. I am not prepared to pay monthly for a car where they pic and choose what rules apply when. It’s my first lease…. and last! Salary sacrifice is ahead for me instead. zero deposit and competitive monthly payers with a tax incentive. The UKG loose out from tax revenue but thats their consequential impact of poor policy decisions.

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I got this wording from their website
Tyre allowance
You can have up to eight (8) tyre replacements over three years, as part of your agreement. If your lease is longer than three years, you might have two (2) extra tyres, for each extra year.Excessive use
If you go over the eight-tyre limit within the three years, we might ask you to cover the cost of any extra tyre replacements.Fair review
We understand every customer’s situation is different. When we review tyre replacements, we’ll always consider factors like:Your vehicle’s mileage
How you’re using your vehicle
This is to make sure we’re being fair, and to keep the Scheme sustainable.Your responsibilities
To help us keep our tyre replacement policy fair and sustainable, we ask you to:Report tyre damage quickly and accurately
Take reasonable care of your vehicle and its tyres, including avoiding known hazards and unsafe driving conditions
Give honest information about the cause of tyre damage when we ask you
Take part in reviews if your tyre use goes over the standard allowance, or shows signs of excessive damage
If you follow these guidelines, you’ll help make sure we manage tyre replacements fairly for all customers. The word might to me says it’s not a strict rule. I just dont know if they will listen to us and if this is just shiny writing because its public facing and they dont want to scare any new customers?

Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24I wonder what would happen if you use up your quota and they say you have to pay for replacements but cant afford it. I wouldn’t have £1000 ready to pay for tyres. I would likely have to tell motability to come and collect the car and be without it.
