If you don’t have off road parking, I’m not sure Motability would lease you an EV (at the moment). Does anyone know if this is right?
Also, without home charging, it would be ambitious to run an EV, not impossible mind.
The i3 is different!
Actually, I have a friend who doesn’t have a home charger, so maybe you can order an EV.
I’d talk to Motability before you go too far down the EV route.

Where are the photos everyone, we need to see them?!

If the time limit is 3 hours in a disabled bay
Depends which nation you live in 😉

A year away – a lot may change.
I would consider going electric if you have off road parking. Kona is a fantastic car if you can fit in it. That would get my vote or even the amazing Ioniq if your a local driver but it may be a bit too low as it is a saloon car.

January 6, 2022 at 5:23 am in reply to: Pick my X1 next week but unsure if it’s suitable anymore? #173471i guess if you find it really unsuitable, you should be able to agree with motability to be able to change it early. at least meantime you will have a car to run, as replacements will take quite a while anyway.
Sounds like a good plan.

I’m thinking of getting a dash cam fitted but a bit concerned about Motability’s non hard wired installation rules. Can I ask anyone who has a camera fitted, is it still possible to get one fitted and to hide the wiring in any way?
Don’t worry about it. I have a friend who has a dash cam wired in and I have a tow bar with electrics wired in. Just ask motability – they may add it to the insurance so it gets replaced should your car get written off. Ha!

5 January 2022 – Isolation switch installed and photo sent to BP. Received a reply from my contact thanking me and moving on to the next stage.
I have to say, so far, I am very impressed with how the installation is being handled. BUT we are not there yet!

if I try swapping it I get a slap on the hand with a cheeky grin
Sounds familiar to me!

I must be missing something here. Coming back to the original question – why would anyone expect to be allowed to spend longer charging than anyone else because they are disabled? Would it improve their mobility?
I think a destination charger (7kW) provider should consider removing any time limitations for blue badge users. The idea of having to get back to the car and then move it into a different space may not prove to be easy or realistic. And then there is the usual argument about how long it takes to do stuff when you are at your destination.
I agree with you at an MSA. Take what you need and jog on asap.

Morning DumfriesDik, that’s better than the 70 plate xc40 b4 mild hybrid 2 ltr auto petrol we’re driving..(description explains all). Are you using any special driving mode.. i.e we tend to use theECO mode…out of a list of …..ECO, Comfort, Dynamic (sport), Off Road rarely..
Good morning @ajn.
I have a choice of two drive modes on the CX5, normal and sport. Or loud and louder, hard to tell the difference if I’m honest. It’s also a 2ltr petrol auto. Very smooth and comfortable. Whoever gets to buy it has a great car.
AP was £1200 three years ago!!

The CX5 is averaging around 36mpg.

What kind of charger? At an MSA (100kW) or a destination charger (7kW)?
Always follow the rules of the car park to avoid any penalties I guess.

ID3 on order – two months in and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. No more information to add. Sorry. BUT if it is the right car at the right price, grab it whilst you can. I’m happy to wait.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
You have to be sure that you are happy with the AP on the car you order. It’s a case of the dog and its reflection. Just be happy. Waiting to see what may or may not happen is a mugs game. Place your order and don’t look back.

Everyone will agree with you Rob_66. We all want more for less and the choices on the scheme for those with clobber is becoming increasingly limited regardless of the AP.
I hope you find a solution that works for you.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
Thats reality for you. Some may know that the car is good for them, like trying a friends car for size.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
I believe Motability ask you to confirm that the car ordered is suitable for your needs and you are happy with it. So, it would be prudent to do just that. You may have to do some legwork and call other dealers for their stock availability so you can get to try one.
Do you have off road parking? The MG ZS electric has just had a face lift and might work for you?

23 December 2021 – Refund for isolation switch received.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
Yes, something gets hot so goes on fire, the fire makes it hotter so the fire gets bigger… the bigger fire makes it hotter still so more fire and so on and so on until it burns itself out. A very dangerous situation but also very rare
Is it a bit like drinking too much leads to drinking more in a field? (Private joke, sorry folks)
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
Bummer. You need to write and let them know the situation.
Two things I have learnt from this is, you get done at 5mph over a 50mph limit. I thought there would be more leeway. Secondly, when the signs change, that is is. I didn’t know that and again, would have thought there would be more leeway.
Jeepers, I shall take more care that is for sure. I hope you can get this resolved.

21 December 2021 – Email sent to BP early morning concerning two things. A refund for the Isolation Switch and the site survey. Received a telephone call from BP say a refund would be authorised and he will contact me again once survey submitted. I have a dedicated person that I deal with at BP and it is very good.

20 December 2021 – Site survey completed by AN Other company. I am not sure why the chap came to tell the truth, a lot of sighs and sucking air in through his teeth. I wasn’t involved and I don’t know what it was all about. I wonder when BP will be in touch to tell me the outcome, soon I hope. He told me I will need to pay for a trench and pay extra for this and that. I don’t think he knew how the installation was going to be funded so I didn’t treat it too seriously for now. Ah well, I will keep jumping through the hoops – roll on January.

The problem with the licence is when your application goes via the medical team. Mine took an age to come through. I wrote to Grant Shapps complaining about it and received a reply from the DVLA about nine months later!
Best of luck.
