I remember in August last year (2024), you asked about home chargers, you’re doing some toying!
Remember that the beginning and end of you journey, you can fill up at home for 7p/kWh. You only pay the premium price when you are away from home.
So, on a planned journey of 500 miles, you start with a full tank and drive for 300 miles. You top up 200 miles at 55p or roughly 50kWh x 50p = £25. Top right up at home at 7p is about £6 making the total for a 500 mile journey £25 +£6 = £31.
And that is in a much bigger and more comfortable car!
What ever you decide, it has to be right and work for you.

This has been an interesting thread. I can’t help but think it will take some time for anyone to digest and implement the new rules. I’m sure Motability are looking into the implications with vigour.
This is weighing heavy on my mind, and it is good to read what others have to say on this very challenging subject.

That could be interesting.

His wife, Lyndsay, can be funny . . . after a couple of glasses! We enjoyed watching their motorhome adventures.

November 27, 2025 at 9:05 am in reply to: Luxury cars removed from Motability ahead of budget #318273Is there a cost saving implication, but not VAT, to the Government by removing ‘luxury’ cars?
As for luxury, can one of the most popular brands (BMW) be deemed luxury? Aren’t the two mutually exclusive?
I have had a few BMW’s in the past on the scheme, thoroughly enjoyed them. I don’t see the issue for the Government, if there is no cost to the Government, then why should they seek to limit our choices?

I don’t understand this either. What does it really matter what you drive?
Another race to the bottom.

@uncj I agree, 10 or 11mph uplift would be great. I get the feeling the nanny state here wants us shrouded in cotton wool.

Good question.
I’ve had a look at the specs of the SEL and you are right, with the Plus package, there ain’t a lot of difference. I have the Edition and the specs look very similar. Even the wheels are the same size on the new models.
Hope you find what you are looking for!

I’ve lost years of my life sitting on that you know 😆🤣🤣
I can see that 8mph would be great on a stairlift!

Thanks @kezo but I was really wanting the max speed increased by legislation so that I could bimble along with a friend on their ebike.
No one else a bit frustrated with this low limit?
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
Well aware of the law. My suggestion is to increase the limit. Not forgetting you should switch them down to 4mph for pavement use. 8mph is for road use.
It would be nice to get out at a reasonable speed of say upto 16mph like e-bikes.
it’s discrimination I tells you!-

On the subject of travel insurance . . . Nationwide . . . account that had a £15 monthly fee (now £18) but, before committing, I called their insurers to ask about my wife’s medical condition and disability and my (less serious) conditions. They confirmed that they would cover these pre existing conditions for an additional £200.
Yup another vote for the Nationwide Flexplus account. I added my ‘conditions’ for a small additional fee no bother. I had to make a claim whilst in France and they were brilliant, really supportive.

My experience of the honey glaze is that it burns, so I would leave that off. Cheap or affordable gammon in Tesco can be, er, challenging to eat. Pay a bit more and get the finest.
Most meat you cook for 20 min per pound and 20 mins for the oven. Or follow the printed instructions!
If you can, go to a butcher and 750g will see you right.

I left my old drives outside for a week of rain, then the hammer!
I don’t think I have been compromised.

I will put my hand up to say that I don’t really understand mental health, and I think I have been lucky it hasn’t visited my door. I do know it is a real thing and that people need help, timely help. It is so sad to hear that you are having to go through this, and I hope there is better help for you all, soon.

I bought a small ifi hi-fi set up for headphones. All from eBay of course. It is small and discrete, but very pleasing through the headphones, I suspect it could drive speakers with the right combo.

I also don’t qualify for any benefits, but I do get my stamp paid. That’s all I ever wanted.
