I might just bite the bullet and test drive the Ionqi 6. The boot measurements from a youtube video means I’ll be able to fit a wheelchair in the boot flat. Which is what it’s currently doing in the Qashqai.

Also, PHEVs succumb to the same problems with winter/the cold and EV batteries, where they offer reduced range.

Be careful where you run the wires, as some ‘may’ interfere with any airbag deployment.
Not saying that it would, but you can never 100% rule out.

My needs list is similar to yours.

My 3 month window opens up on the 11th of Jan, and lease end on the 11th of April.

So I’m looking at Q1 and maybe Q2, if I want to chance it.

I’ll go looking and test driving in Jan. I just hope I don’t get someone who sits with you and tells you where to go on a test drive. I drive on a variety of roads, and need to test road conditions and comfort.

Can you not order from a GB forecourt/car showroom, and then just drive it back to NI, and transfer the servicing etc to somewhere local?

I quite like some the Chinese car companies, that just produce one model and trim. They pretty much shove everything in to it. No arsing around with slightly differing trim levels per model.

I disagree. I drive a Qashqai ePower and during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. My motorway average is around 50-60mpg. Yes I drive at around 60mph and just leave it on ProPilot. It gives a higher average MPG than my old Qashqai 1.5dci used too, on the same journeys.

Well I’m on my 30th year with Motability, and remember the uproar when they introduced the vehicle price cap and AP cap. I think an automatic was allowed an extra £1k at that time, over the manual cap.
Before that, I’m sure people were getting Range Rovers etc, and the paper media didn’t like that so much.

Who knows what it’s going to be like when I come to look at my next one, next year. I do have off road parking on my drive at least. I am saving for the AP, I just don’t know where it will be.

91 miles on EV only and 700+ hybrid mode.
There’s only going to be one model, with a single specification, basically everything thrown on.

After reading the spec list, I don’t think any other car could compete, if comfort and convenience is your thing. A 600ltr boot, even before moving seats.

Sounds quite interesting to me, as my QQ is up in April 2026.
