I currently drive a Nissan Qashqai ePower. In summer I can get around 700+mi per tank of petrol. In winter I get around 500+mi per tank,

The ePower uses a 1.5 petrol generator for purely charging the 2.3kwh battery and generating electric for the electric drive motor and other electronics.

A Skoda Enyaq 85 SE L is great value at £749. It’s bigger than the QQ inside, and it’s always going to be cheaper to run than petrol.

I did a rough cost analysis, as I’m moving to  an EV, even more so with the Middle East blowing up.
for the 7600mi I did. It would have cost me around £160 in electric and cost around £1000 in petrol.
So that’s around a £800 saving with an EV.

EV cost 7.5p per unit for 6 hours. Average 3.5 mi/kwh.
Petrol cost £1.25 p/l and an average of 45 mpg.

@TomThumb, glad we could be of help in some way or another. I really do wish you and your daughter the best outcome. We all don’t want to see her have to go back to the beginning. It’s going to be hard enough waiting to get back on Motability, if she should choose that route again.

It seems to be quite clear Bans/Disqualifications over 56 days requires you to reapply for your licence.
So you can only get a driving ban from either a driving conviction, or an accumulation of 12 points. I think both lead to a court appearance. I‘m excluding anything to do with surrendering your licence for other reasons.

Applying for a new licence after disqualification for a new driver within the first 2 years results in a provisional licence and requiring to pass both the theory and practical tests again.

That’s the way the government have wrote it. A court cannot override this process, due to not specifically mentioning it. I don’t mind being corrected if I’m wrong. But that’s the only way I can read  it.

Sorry @TomThumb but information seems to all point to, new drivers getting a driving ban within the first 2 years. Having to reapply for a provisional licence and retaking both the theory and practical test. All remaining points and endorsements will stay on the new licence.

I agree with @Glos Guy that you should check with the DVLA for full legal clarification on the driver’s licence status of your daughter. I wouldn’t just go off the court’s lack of information. Only the DVLA will give you the correct answer.

Last thing you’ll want is for her to be driving around without a valid licence.

A Frunk is useful, cables and car stuff can go in there and be accessible regardless of what else we have in the car. Space is most important. I’ve spoiled myself with the HI5, there’s elbow room for days and a lot of contenders are less roomy. Time to reconfigure the spreadsheet.

I ordered the Enyaq Sportline for security, as it was best of the bunch,
I maybe tempted to change if the EV5 GT Line S appeared for a similar AP, or less.
If the Sportline reduced in Q2, I’ll politely ask if they can change it to Q2 pricing. If they can’t, I’d consider cancelling and reordering from another dealer.

Not nice I know, and It’s something that I’ve never needed to do, as it would have to reduce more than £500 for me to do that.

Yeh I tried the EV3. It’s really great, but my daughter didn’t like the lack of space in the rear. She likes to spread out like a spider in the back. She needs an arse warmer. Like some others on here, I like the space to move my arms.

What won the Enyaq with my daughter was the pull up rear blinds on the windows. Also, the cavernous space in the rear, and her own climate control.

But I would change all that if the EV5 GT Line S came on for a decent AP.

Yeh, but at £7k. An Enyaq Sportline (Maxx) gives close, but £1k cheaper.

The Enyaq got a spec change, it might have been after the summer shut down of 2025.

The SE L base comes with a heated steering wheel.
I tested out the standard speaker system, and it sounded much better than the standard Qashqai speaker system. The sales guy did say that Canton make all the Skoda audio, regardless of standard or premium.

I need the Winter Pack, due to my daughter who loves the back seat wanting heated seats. I understand the preheating, but some journeys are not planned.

A sunroof I can live without, although, the extra light helps a dark interior. A HUD I can live without, if I have travel assist. As I don’t do many journeys that need navigation these days. My health doesn’t allow far travel.

The EV3 GT Line S (and EV5 GT Line S) have cooled front seats the MGS5 does as well. I don’t believe it sits in any Enyaq pack or the Ford. Ventilated front seats are only available on the VZ2 version of the Tavascan. My daughter prefers a bigger car, so she can sit further back away from me (her words).
So she found the Enyaq the best, especially with the rear blinds.
I like listening to music, being a former 90s DJ. The standard Enyaq speaker (still made by Canton, says the sales guy) sounded much better than my current Qashqai speakers.

I would have got the Ioniq 6 Ultimate (now removed), but my mum struggled to get in and out of it.

The Enyaq SE L (Plus/Suite) (£1297 – WPMS) – (£2699 – PIP)
Suite gives you vented front seats which come part of the Cognac/Black Design Suite.

+Winter Pack (£450) – (Heated Windscreen, Heated Rear Outer Seats)

You lose the Sunroof, HUD and 360 Cameras compared to the EV3 though. But you do gain independent 2nd row climate controls.

If the Enyaq prices change or reduce Q2, I may go for a different trim Enyaq.

I think the Enyaq is the best on the MEB platform, that includes the Ford Explorer and Capri

The Mini uses a pop up HUD with a tinted Perspex screen.

An AR (Augmented Reality) HUD is a different HUD, compared to a standard HUD that just projects driver information direct on the windscreen or Perspex pop up screen.

An AR HUD projects directions onto the road, such as arrows that appear small, when the junction is far away. They seem to hang to the junction and get bigger as you get closer. Or, project arrows into the road in front of you, as if they’re lane markings, and follow the road prospective and direction.
