Des, how’s the Scenic going for you after a year or so?
Another thing that’s a pain is that every time I start the car now, I get a sat nav pop-up asking me if I want to go somewhere! Does anyone know how to disable this?
OK, so I’ve run another wee range test over the last couple of days. This was a battery charge to 95% where the guessometer was showing 246 miles. I reset the trip odometer to 0. I have driven the car down to 40% battery and the trip odometer shows that I have travelled 185 actual miles for the 55% of battery used. At that rate, I would be getting a notional 336 miles from a full battery, which is obviously above the wltp of 326.
As I mentioned in my previous post, since the dealership software updates a couple of weeks ago, the guessometer has completely flipped from dropping wildly to being much more conservative and actually underestimating the remaining miles. As we can see, although 185 actual miles were covered, the guessometer is showing only 143 miles.
Anyhow, I’m absolutely delighted with the range now, after nearly a year bemoaning it’s pi$$ poor returns. The updates have seemingly added around 60-70 miles to what I was probably getting before. Don’t know how, but it’s true! The test will however be winter, but if I even get 220 to a full battery, I’d be happy, as opposed to the 150ish that I was looking at last winter.

Since the updates two weeks ago, I still have constant flashing STOP warning triangle and orange spanner. I contacted the dealership last week and they said that they had raised a ticket with Peugeot. I’ll get back to them on Wednesday and say if anything has happened on that front.
Has anyone had their dealership do a software update on their E3008 recently? And if so, has it brought any noticeable changes/problems with the car?
I had mine done last week and now I have the red STOP triangle and orange spanner permanently flashing. Additionally, on a full 100% charge, the dash was showing just 260 miles instead of the usual 327 miles.UPDATE:
So, I did another charge and the initial picture below shows the guessometer on 229 miles with 94% battery. The running mileage on the trip odometer was 140 miles. A couple of days later the system is now showing 164 miles with 61% battery. That’s a loss of 33% battery and a guessometer of travelling 65 miles. However, the running trip odometer is showing at 249 miles… which means that the car actually travelled 109 (true) miles. If I’m reading that right, then the car would effectively be above WLTP! … i.e 33% at 109 miles would equate to 330 miles at 100% battery. It does therefore seem to me that the latest software update done at the dealership last week, has totally reversed the way the guessometer works. Before,at 100% it would start off at 327 miles and rapidly lose miles out of nowhere (for example it would show a 100 mile loss when I had actually only done 45 real miles. Now, it seems to be erring massively in the opposite, conservative scale… I’ll monitor the situation again for the next week, but it only reinforces that the only reliable scale is the battery percentage one…

E3008 here. Currently getting about 4.1. I do a lot of short half mile runs though. Winter is atrocious. Although the WLTP for the car (73kwh battery) is 326 miles, during winter, I was on target to get just 150ish miles from a full battery. Over the lifetime of the car (got it last August) of one year and 10k miles, I’m averaging 3.1 m/kwh.
OK, just back from the dealership who carried out the ball joint/bracket recall.
I’ve had issues with the poor consumption since getting the car (E3008) and I noted on here that I was sometimes only on target to get around 150ish miles to a full charge (with around 0c temps). On one occasion I travelled just 6 miles and lost 8% of my battery. Anyhow, I did mention this to them a while ago and they did a battery test today. They reckon that its approx 30% down on where it should be performing and mentioned a possible battery replacement! They have done a ticket to Peugeot about it and now await their decision on how to proceed! I’ll update when there is anything further…
I also got this letter. My question is, is this a quick fix per se? Or will the car be gone for a while? .
Most people are saying that it takes about an hour for the ball joint job to be done.
Yup, I’m waiting for a call that the ball joint bracket parts are in to get mine done. People seem to be a bit casual about it in my opinion. I didn’t get a text or email about it. The bloody app still isn’t working for me after 5 months and I had to proactively go onto the website and check for the recall. It confirmed that mine was affected.
If you have an E3008 (or E5008 also, I believe) and haven’t heard anything about the recall, check yourself here… http://www.peugeot.co.uk/tools/recall-campaigns.html
This was on the E5008 facebook group a little while back …

I just purchased a Peugeot E5008 in November ! There is 1080 miles on the clock . I was driving the car yesterday and the full front right axle just came right off the car ! Thank God we had just come off the motorway so we are alive ! It seems like this must have been a problem with the bolts , the recovery guy said there was only 1 bolt left , 2 missing !”I saw this video recently:

I’ve an E3008 and am currently only getting about 140 miles per full charge as well. However, I do at least six 1/2 mile trips per day and two 2 mile trips. The best that I saw in summer (August when I got the car) was about 230 miles. It’s a shocking return for a car with a stated 326 mile WLTP. Lovely car inside and out, but the low range has certainly soured my relationship with it and I wouldn’t touch another electric Peugeot.
The software was all over the place for the first 3 months that I had the car. I kept getting warning lights coming up and messages like “traction control fault” … or “find a garage” … or something not working, long delays for the screens to activate/populate etc It was worrying, but they went off after a while. I haven’t really had any more false lights come on in the last 6 weeks or so, which I’m assuming was fixed by on over the air update. However, I still get the occasional instance of losing all of my preset radio stations and it’s a pain to have to redo them all again.
Now we have the inconvenience of having to do the recall for the ball joint issue, which is a pain as my dealer is 40 miles away, but is a worry in itself.
The Kia Sportage has just been refreshed and looks more modern and fresh IMO. I wouldn’t get a Sportage now personally unless it was the new model. Could be a month or two before it comes on the scheme though.
Des, I popped up to the big smoke on Friday and test drove a Scenic Alpine. Loved the way it drove and how smooth and linear the acceleration was too. It felt so much less ponderous and heavy on the road than the E3008. The google based info system looks and works great and the room in the back is just tardis like. How do they do that? I was keeping an eye on the battery percentage as I was driving and it looked to be dropping at half the rate of my Pug! Overall, it’s a really nice package.
I have to say though that I prefer the closed in nature of the Pug to the more open and airy feel of the Scenic. The Scenic is indeed a comfortable car, but after getting back in the Pug, it just felt more premium and the seat more supportive and comfortable. Funnily enough, my wife said that the front seat experience felt like a “level up” from the Scenic! I can see what she means, but conversely she was ranting about the Scenics’ space in the back and that fantastic armrest function! We had a sit in the Iconic spec and that sunroof is spectacular. I didn’t like the light coloured, meshy seats though. Looks like they could be hard to keep and might lack durability? Just a thought. Another point is that the seating position is lower than in the Pug, when we both prefer to be higher up.
That aside, the important thing to us is range and on that point, there is no contest, obviously. I’m guessing that the Scenic is putting up about 50-60 more miles than the Pug, albeit from a slightly bigger battery. That extra mileage is hard to look past.
Dunno where we are heading with all this…
Des, I’ve watched a couple of youtube videos from this new Scenic owner too… so interesting to see a real persons view, rather than reviewers.
A timely video for us first winter EV drivers…
Excellent Des. Interesting to hear your ongoing thoughts on the car. Hmmmm!…..
2.1 MilesperKwh doing my short trips.
Yep, I was getting that 2 weeks ago in my E3008. 150 miles from a full charge. WLTP is 326 miles! It wasn’t even below freezing!. Charged her to full on friday night. Done 51 miles and showing 73% battery left and 2.8 miles per kwh. That’s in temperatures of 12 or 13 degrees. Admittedly most of my runs are short 1 or 2 mile trips, but still!
Right told the kids I’d take them to a park, one that is 151 miles away. .
Appreciate all that Des, cheers mate.
How did the park run go? Consumption? Happy with what your getting?
Des, how are you finding the interior quality of the Scenic in comparison to the Peugeot? I sat in an Austral in the showroom last year and concluded that the materials and dash were less “premium” looking and feeling than the 3008 GT Line that I was in at the time.
Ps I ment to say this about something you mentioned a while ago. My partner also has severe anxiety in the car, all cars. It’s a recent thing of about a year and tbh it’s causing a bit of grief between us.
Sorry to hear that, Des. I can sympathise with you both.
And that’s that 100% to 1%. And some strangeness. Left home with 100% = 305 miles.
Interesting that the GOM stated 305 miles, Des, which is probably about 70 miles less than the wltp. Whereas the E3008 always displays the wltp (327 miles and more) after every top up to 100%. That fuels our disappointment when the range plummets but probably shows how dumb the car is. On the contrary, the Scenic looks to have a real world figure already considered, which is great.
Excellent stuff Des. In my naivety I thought the electric cars would be a lot smarter and accurate based on knowing my driving style by now (after 3 months) and the averages during particular weather conditions (terrain aside). I don’t think that my heating issues are relatable, Des. Firstly because I doubt the smartness of the Pug, but also because I haven’t ever used the satnav for any journeys, so it doesn’t know how far or where I’m going. Since last Thursday and my Belfast run the wife has just been tootling about and the range looks to be absolutely dire and the gauges are dropping like a stone. I’m gonna charge it up to 100% tonight, reset the trip meter/consumption and monitor it over the next few days… We’ll see what my next step is.
I rang my dealers yesterday and they said that the first diagnostic booking they have is…. 2nd January!
Result! Nice one Des. Happy for you mate. Keep the reports coming…
Des, did you pick up the Scenic? If so, how’s it going? Are you having better luck than the E3008?
We have a Volvo xc40 plug-in hybrid and in summer we get 24/27 miles on a full charge. It was -7*C the other day and I got 9 miles from a full charge
That is crazy bad, Brydo.
Oh, I forgot to add to my post yesterday that after driving just 6 miles, my battery had used 8% … WTF?
Here’s a snap that my wife took after we set out…

I’m currently getting 1.7 mipkw so looking at a range of about 120-130 which is shocking. Good news is I pick the Renault up today and having read the forum this morning one lady was complaining about only getting 235 miles in this cold snap so that is good. Most seem to be in or around 220, and that’s the magic number for me in winter. With 270 in summer. I don’t care if a car claims a range of 500 miles as long as I get 220 and 270 I’ll be happy.
That’s a shocking low figure you’re getting on the Pug, Des.
Yes, 220 miles would do me, but as it is, I’m buggered. I have a trip from Dublin airport next month. That’s 125 miles from me. So, I will have to stop to top up to 80% north of Dublin first, so that I have some juice for the trip back, but then that won’t get me home, so I will have to stop again in Newry or Armagh for another top up! So that’s 2 charging stops just to do a 240 mile trip!
I’m so disliking this car…
Delighted that you’re changing from the nightmare you’ve had mate. Sincere hopes and best wishes that you get great joy out of the Scenic. Let us know how you are loving it! We need a good news story!
