Your so right wonky i have myself experienced this as well i think that with legal aid being cut back unless we can defend ourselves against corporate abuse we have no chance.
One thing i will say is if you want anything in writing from motability do not hold your breath as i tried to get evidence which is still ongoing and the ombudsman is now looking into it for me as i asked for letters signed from the grants team and motability operations and they refused to do this as they know they may be in trouble they also will not produce a document on there duty of care to disabled customers which under equality act of 2010 they should have. How can an organization that deals with and for disabled people act like this its totally illigal under the human rights act as well i was treated very bad and my mental health suffered due to no duty of my care, like said when things are going well they are very good but in some cases they abuse you.
I never paid any deposit even for op extras.
I myself have had a number of smarts for two’s and they have been really good and the new renault input smart is classy with great twin clutch automatic leather heated seats its a great car and no worries with rusty paintwork, also suzuki dealers seem to get good reports better now than toyota there cars have improved big time.We know that skoda seat are vw’s in disguise as well.
I am not sure if you know motability told me you should not have to pay any deposit on ordering your car although i have been asked for by a dealer in the past and also if you are not sure of the car ordered motability told me you can even cancel before inputing the pin number so right up to the last week of delivery you are able to cancel your order.I know the dealer would be left with a car but they will sell it or put it in there showroom if it has extras on it.April 25, 2019 at 10:47 am in reply to: Best hybrid cars 2019 UK: the top PHEVs and plug-ins on sale #75520
I read in auto express that a lot of uk charging points are broken so unless we can charge from home it does not seem very reliable for any long travel, i really think we need a hybrid that runs on some type of fuel for the future if petrol is no more, will there ever be a self regenerating car and then theres the tax the gov will not get so it will be pay by the mile to use the roads.
Hi Surrey guy it seems when things go wrong like for you motability seems to put the blame on the customer and to be honest i know someone who was banned from the scheme for a year due to terminations when some of the fault was with adaptions fitting company and motability and the customer all had some input. But i think even though motability made a massive surplus profit from us disabled they have cutback on back office problems when things go wrong. All they told my friend was he would have to go to the financial ombudsman if he was still not happy.I hope you let us know your outcome by the way when motability insists you have a test drive i told them you ask a dealer and they tell you as i found most of the time they do not have any automatics to test.
I have posted this before the Abarth 595 mta is no longer sold in uk and the other 165bhp mta auto is not on the scheme and abarth uk told me its due to insurance costs not as said a bhp limit although they told me there trying to get insurance costs down so they could become available. As the Mazda mx5 rf automatic and cx5 has been removed i think once again choice is being taken away to disabled although i came off the scheme and have a smart for two dct turbo which has also never been on the scheme and the insurance is low and its zero tax it does not make any sence why you can buy a mini cooper s auto which is 192bhp and an expensive to buy car yet some cars you cannot buy.Abarth uk motability told me he would like the whole range on the scheme but its motability causing the problems.
Hi many thanks for above answers its hard when you feel emotion and not being understood.
I think that motability is ok when things go well but if you have an issue or complaint they do this thereselves and i found if you are still not happy they all back one another up and say if you are still not happy go to the Financial Ombudsman but i am not sure if that will work. The people at motability operations i have come across as said are very good on your orders but when things went wrong for me and i complained they did not listen and were rude and not action on a duty of care to a vunerable disabled person i was shocked what many of them said and one lady two put to phone down on me when she started questioning my illness and i told her already about being a vunerable person to be honest i was getting nowhere and even the charity took the side of m op without looking at the evidence i provided.I have been on the scheme since 2001 and spent a lot of my own money on cars and expect respect under a duty of care from them and it was not forth coming they refused to let it go higher up the complaint and i was really being abused which has affected my mental well being i am not sure where to go to get a fair hearing as they seem intrenched in there own dogma.I was told a few years ago i had a sim problem and i got an apology this time no such thing.
Well said trev your right do your sums before rushing into getting choice of car running costs.
This post was about car running costs so it also matters we can afford to do this.
Re above post i added it because not only can some disabled not afford to get a car on motability or have to give it up or not use it due to massive £6-7 a gallon fuel i can see with the austerity that food maybe more important than cars even though i do need a car.
By the way i saw a post on this forum about uni credit that labour has not said it will scrap it well i just saw a guardian article with john mcdonnell says he will scrap it but there is a vote coming soon on rules of the credit that the gov may lose although it will not effect me as i have a private pension but i do not like seeing people having to go to food banks due to being destitute in 2018.November 4, 2018 at 12:50 pm in reply to: Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Rifter / Vauxhall Combo life #64327
I know its a great car but does the new versions roll a lot in corners as i think it may have been improved and the peugeot cabin looks the best and the citroen outside looks better a shame they did not put the peugeot cabin in the citroen anyway a great improvement.November 4, 2018 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Boring cars nothing sporty in automatic why motability lets have choice #64325
Thats what i mean the mta auto i heard is not made in 595 abarth only near top of the range i wonder whether abarth is thinking of an up dated range to offer a duel auto gearbox in the future range unless thats too costly.
I really feel that on motability which is for rich or poor disabled you should get vat or tax free fuel in uk as its these costs that the poorest motability customers need with the austerity taking place i know some will say you have to pay the biggest con the 20% vat on most goods even fruit juice holy moly? exceipt disability equipment.
I see in auto express that suzuki have done well in reliability and even alfa romeo are getting better it seems german cars like vw polo do not get a good reliability report nor does bmw or mercedes, which with there high price you would think they would come top of the reliability league i think lexus comes top.
Motability maybe on a downward trend if there call centre staff are anything to go by i had a complaint and it appears when things are going well like when you place an order all goes well but if you have a problem about there customer service managers they all stick together and you are told thats it you have to go to the financial ombudsman and being mentally and physically disabled feel they have verbally abused me i have had the phone put down on me been refused anything in writing its so bad my scheme manager and homehelp say you have been abused.I have been a customer as well since 2001 and feel i can no longer continue to fight them.October 7, 2018 at 1:30 pm in reply to: Boring cars nothing sporty in automatic why motability lets have choice #62423
Motability do not pay vat on the fleet and also the smart brabus was on the scheme on the older model as for the abarth 595 the whole range has an automatic mta gearbox available. If the mini cooper s automatic is on the scheme theres no reason why other automatics are not including renaultsport rs edc which was on the scheme in 2017 also has anyone seen citroen lately i remember when they had such stylish cars like the c4 coupe but the range is so ugly now.October 3, 2018 at 11:09 am in reply to: ‘If you don’t believe in the electric car yet, you soon will’ #62098
And as i have a battery 8mph mobility scooter which still have old batteries no lithium on large scooter we have not advanced much even though they can cost on a rental as much as a car on the scheme, we know most are made in china but come on where are lithium powered large scooters.October 3, 2018 at 11:05 am in reply to: ‘If you don’t believe in the electric car yet, you soon will’ #62097
Hi will we all get used to silent cars how boring that will be after the sound of a v10 engine the future looks very bleak.October 2, 2018 at 6:45 pm in reply to: ‘If you don’t believe in the electric car yet, you soon will’ #62073
If we are to go electric we will need to build more power stations and that means if they are to be automic then there will be the toxic waste and will we run out of storage for this.I thought hydrogen would have been better or why not carry on with the petrol car until fossel fuel runs out as long as there is very low polution as people seem to think that electric is clean and its not we are being sold a lie.October 2, 2018 at 6:38 pm in reply to: Boring cars nothing sporty in automatic why motability lets have choice #62072
I know that an 89bhp or 9obhp smart for two or four brabus is not that powerful yet we are not allowed to have them it may be down to cost as its not insurance as the mini cooper s 192 automatic is on the scheme i am wondering is it mercedes that wants too much profit in the smart although the abarth 595 automatic has been withdrawn only the manual is avail now.October 2, 2018 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Boring cars nothing sporty in automatic why motability lets have choice #62066
The smart brabus for two twin clutch automatic that would be good to bring back on motability why that and the other turbos are not on the scheme i know not.
