That’s magic, I thought you must have some logical way round it and by the sounds of it this is actually going to work in your favour so to speak, I hope you have lots of fun in it over the next 3 years and I’m glad you finally found something that suits all your needs plus all the toys it comes with make it that bit sweeter.
Sorry, Might sound really stupid, but I dont know exactly what a DSG is, but mine is an allspace Match 2.0 litre TDI 150 ps DSG 5 door.. guessing something to do with the engine? I honestly thought VW would be a higher AP than Seats equivalent the Taracco, but actually it’s about £1000 less at the moment, but I know that changes. It felt really lovely to drive, felt really roomy and didn’t feel like driving a tank…best thing parks itself! Re the boot opening. yes you are correct the height of the boot isnt so big to get a built scooter in with the extra cms you have to add for the hoist bar. If they were to make the 2 seats at the back pack away flush to the floor of the boot it would be a bit bigger but for me it works. I wouldn’t have my scooter seat attached all the time in this car,( I had to in the Mazda because its boot space was so limited) My scooters got such a heavy awkward battery pack that is impossible for me to remove when the scooter seat is on. I was told by the scooter shop to charge the battery all the time I’m not using it, so every trip out or back home I have to take the seat off to get to the battery. Whichever car I went for, I would do the same because of the battery being like it is, its actually more convenient to travel with the seat off so I can get to the battery, I just open the boot and pop in the battery and the same when I come back home, which works out easier than if I were travelling with the seat on (if that makes sense?) My tiller then drops much further down, my seat sits on the scooters base so it’s all compact and works. The length of the boot was my biggest issue, the allspace definitely gives me that and 5 seats again instead of 2 in the Mazda. My family will be pleased, no more tying them on the roof to go anywhere!!
I did load everything in the demo car today so I know it all fits and the hoist fitter is (not who was used with the Mazda) and will come to the house so just got to wait for the car…patience is not my greatest trait!! The garage were fab to help me out with the cost of extras so I could get a car asap not in 6months wait, there are some brilliantly helpful, generous garages about, glad this time I found them.
Hi dsg means direct-shift gearbox and it has double clutch to change gears at certain times its very smooth and i think better than cvt although its more complex.
Yes good luck man.
My wife doesn’t get out very often and when she does it takes hours before she is ready. I suggested we go out today at one o’clock and as an extra sweetener I said I would buy her something, yes its that time of the year lol. Four o’clock comes and goes and we are still in the house, so I start moaning so she “hurries” and eventually we leave. All the way there she is asking do we have the blue badge and scooter? What about my plastic cover and umbrella? “I’m no amatuar at this” I reply “I’ve been doing this for years”. So we get to the shopping centre me still moaning about how long its taken to get out, I go into the boot get her new electric automatic folding mobility scooter out the boot ……,…………… Only to find I had left it switched on since the last time we used it and the battery was flat. You should have heard the abuse I got, rightly so, she went full Tonto on me right in front of a couple in the next disabled space. He was in stitches and she had that look that only woman have, half disappointed and half disgusted lol. Needless to say it was the quickest shopping trip ever and the only good thing about it is a saved a few quid lol.
I would have got a cat of nine tails for that very exciting haha but painful.
The folding mobility scooters tga monarch and now drive medical are a bit pricey due to some having lithium batteries to make them lighter and some are best only for up to 13 miles i have a new drive 4 wheel self folding scooter which was over £2000 but got it for £1675 its great press the key fob and it folds. They are a lighter construction and have no suspension so not so good on rough ground. The next step up and i used to have one is the pride rapid apex which has suspension all round but does not fold though.
Hi Bionic i have recently had great contact back from two mini dealers they seem more on the ball perhaps its due to brexit and mini need to keep sales up.
June 16, 2019 at 11:16 am in reply to: Issues with brand new car and built in hoist….any advice please? #79886I Was going to say the citroen/berlingo or the rifter also i had a skoda fabia estate that took a 4 way brig/ayd Programmable hoist so some estates will do well the ford focus estate is nice i even think a ford focus hatch will take only a 40kg hoist.Have you looked on brig/ayd web site it does have a list of cars with pics that they have fitted hoists to.I myself would like a mini 3 door hatch but its strange no one has tried to adapt a small 40kg hoist for a self folding scooter although elap have fitted one in a fiat 500 its on you tube by des gosling.
A big shame that citroen do no longer make any sporty cars remember the c2 vtr automatic and the manual c2 vts and also the c4 coupe what a great looking car that was different there is the DS range and the above c5 does look nice but these crossovers or mpb’s are two a penny now there is the mini still at least.
I wanted to add if you go to motability site and look up dealers it tells you the ones that do home visits i presume that does only mean a local dealer to you i think many years ago a dealer may have travelled up to 100 miles for a motability sale but not now.

Hi Surrey that looks well smart nice colour as well.
Yes thats it Macca it was great and you had a magazine as well.
Many thanks Bry i do think that its time for the dealers and manufacturers should offer what the private buyer gets mostly i have always been told by dealers is they do not make much money out of motability, if anyone remembers in the early 2000 ford used to send out money off vouchers when you contacted head office and now your lucky if you get £100 cashback. It would be good for the gov like the scrappage scheme to offer incentives to buy more on the motability scheme to help the manufacturer in this time with brexit affecting some sales.
Yes it seems the forum is getting popular which is a good thing Brydo i wonder if there any dealers willing to offer up to £2000 cash back that would be like winning the lottery.I think i will put up a new post to dealers on here for there promotion of there dealership sales.
Suzuki dealers seem to do well in customer care as well i remember having a 1990 suzuki swift gti that was a great car a bit flimsy but never had any trouble with it and when it went for service i was lent a suzuki vitara and although these were manual gearbox i thought it was great. As these were my own cars and suzuki has come a long way in build quality then the old days i think you cannot go far wrong.
Good luck this time surrey guy blue is nice not sure though about diesel unless you do a fare amount of miles as you may know short journeys are not liked by the particulate filters but im sure you know what you want.
I have been in contact with the work and pensions committee and they are already looking at motability operations conduct i have relayed everything to them so with the ombudsman as well i will wait and see.
Many thanks Brydo have you sorted a folding scooter.
Hi justsaying i appreciate its difficult and this forum is very helpful on motability cars and information as this is what the ombudsman is for and i will see what happens i have had many happy years with motability an d long may it continue.
Well this is news to me i had a letter today from motability they tell me in my request for letters in writing under freedom of information they do not have to do this as the foi does not apply to motability ltd now thats downright not fair even though they are part of goverment so as i have said its all on there side and we the people who pay them have no say holy moly.
Hi surrey guy im glad you got your problem sorted but it seems motability legal team have got to this forum and threatened them as the post about my complaint and equality issues with motability has got nothing to do with the ombudsman there is no legal problem with free speach on here as under data protection i agree with my details on here its a shame that motability has been protected against the small person and the post has been shut down by mods as motability seem to be a law upon themselves i hope others on here like surrey guy were alowed to keep there post as i had told motability i would be posting what they have done to me they have got to this site which im sorry about.
Sorry guys the tel number is 0800 169 1910 i looked at the reviews and as said this is my second scooter from them and i had a problem after getting it with the digital speedo and they came and picked it up as where they are made in china it had not been wired up properly anyway i got it back delivered with no charge which i was very happy with.
Just to add i do not have any shares in this company only that i have had great service and when my large mobility scooter contract ends im going straight to them.
Hi brydo the only thing i must say is this is a 4mph pavement scooter you could ask for a demo anyway try this is there head office in preston and they have other new shops as well and offer easy finance if you want i will give you there free phone number which is 0800 169 190 ask for chris thompson as he is the one for me having a good deal, anyone whos interested in owning a large or small mobility scooter they have recently offering owning a scooter and paying £20 a month and you get piece of mind care servicing every year breakdown tyres insurance everything and its great as you own it.
I have a new drive debliss 4 wheel compact auto folding mobility boot scooter and its great press a key fob and you hear a blip and then it folds automatically it was cheaper than the monach auto fold which is well over £2000 new mine was £1500 new and the place i got it from although a long way away was delivered by an engineer the company also will price match if seen cheaper elsewhere i cannot give there name on here but if you want to pm me i will tell you.
Many thanks Brydo that sounds good is there any info on this model.
April 30, 2019 at 11:11 am in reply to: Ask Motability when the Tesla 3 is coming on the scheme. #75829It is hardly worth talking about on a motability car forum as it will never be available on motability scheme at that price in uk but it looks good your even lucky to get a car thats over £35000 on motability automatic now as the price cap that was put on cars on the scheme due to the Daily mail right wing press disabilty hate put an end to cars over a certain price.
