Thank you all. I will explore at all  three mentioned to see which works best for me. But at the moment I’m leaning towards IOG due to it integrating well with the Ohme Home Pro charger.

                  Thank you!

There’s a slight issue re driving license which dealer is aware of although he probably assumes I’ve got it back from DVLA by now.

I sent off my 3 year DVLA medical license renewal in early October, but I’ve still not had my license back. This renewal has been different to previous renewals which were just rubber stamped. This time they wrote to my doctor, but locum doctor from mainland had to come to Isle of Wight on Feb 13th to do a face to face medical license renewal. He filled out form as I sat there. No problems whatsoever apart from lower limb weakness requiring usual hand controls which he wrote on the form. The DVLA have received the form back but it’s sitting in queue waiting for it to be checked. But DVLA say no probs drive under section 88 with same adaptions as previous and gave me section 88 letter.

So I’m hoping dealer will let me pick up car without driving license. Dealer does know about and has taken photocopy of my section 88 letter. And I’ve got letter as well

My license expired Jan 3rd. But when I ordered car I assumed I’d have my license back by now, I’ve not hadn’t any new medical issued since it was last issued. You might think I was stupid ordering MB car due to license expiring beginning of Jan but I really need a car to get back regularly to see my mum+dad who are in their late 80s and might not live much longer. And I didn’t think it’d take DVLA 6 months or more to renew license. It’s only lower limb pain/weakness due to stroke and requiring wheelchair nothing complicated. Had stroke more than 5 years ago and take daily meds to mitigate chance of another one.

Hi, you’re very intuitive! Yes it is an Enyaq I’ve ordered, and I have added both passenger and driver transfer plates, as you say at £9ea. I only really need the driver side one, but I thought for an extra £9 I might as well get the passenger side one just on case. . Yes I have a manual wheelchair and can self-propel short distances. My aim is to mainly use my manual chair in the way you describe for popping in and out a shop, etc. And the powerchair for when I want/need to go longer distances or carry heavier more awkward items which can be difficult carry when using a lightweight manual wheelchair

Thank you that’s reassuring. Yes I’m having a hoist fitted as well as other adaptions. Also the vehicle I will be leasing has an electric tailgate which will make life easier. When I was last on the scheme I struggled with opening and closing the tailgate by hand.

When i left last year and had early termination. I just informed them my current vehicle was no longer suitable for my needs and there was no suitable alternative upon scheme.

Thank you. I have a MB car on order with adaptions. I live alone and will be the only named driver. At this present time as I’ve not driven for 10 years and have medical restrictions on my license. I feel it makes sense for me joining the scheme at this stage as I’m not sure whether having a car will make my life easier or harder. I’m hoping the former but I do worry as to how I will get on with loading and unloading my electric wheelchair. I’m hoping I will manage, but if I’m struggling (especially in the winter) then I hope I may be able to come off the scheme and hand the vehicle back. But it’s not my intention. If I do cope having a car I would also like to own my own vehicle and not stay on the scheme long term. Sorry this replay is a bit off-topic of you original post.

I managed to get an early termination.

Without wishing to be nosy. What did you tell MB to get an early termination of your lease?

I’ve owned a number of mobility scooters over the years. And picking a random one from the MB website a Pride Colt Plus 4mph scooter. MB lease price £23.30 x 52 x 3 = £3635

You can buy one online delivered free to your door for less than £1200. And provided you follow the charging guide mobility scooters are super reliable. But you’d have to put the seat and basket on yourself and get rid of the packaging.

For the equivalent MB price you could buy a new one every year and still have some spare cash.

And that’s not an exception I’ve picked other ones at random and over three years it works out x3 more expensive to lease one from MB than buy one.

I only mention this as a comparison to car leases.

If motability extended the lease past the 3 years customers would be more willing to pay higher AP for a higher spec car, or pay the dealer for options to be fitted to a factory order. But as the lease is only for 3 years it’s not worth doing.

The AP on the car I ordered dropped from $1499 to £749. The dealer left the factory order in place and cancelled the old MB agreement and resubmitted a new MB agreement. It only took him a few minutes to do that, or would have done if I didn’t need quite so many driving adaptions. Adding the adaptions takes the time because the MB adaptions ordering process is a bit of a faff for the dealer, I was with the guy when he re-submitted the order.

£750 is a lot of money to lose. Although one of the adaptions had gone up by £50 so I saved £700 in the end. It helped towards the cost of having the adaptions fitted.

In the MB adaptions price list is the hoist transfer kit the frame that bolts into the boot and the hoist hooks onto?

Also out of curiosity has anyone got or ever seen the rooftop wheelchair stowage system in the real world? I saw one at the assessment centre QEF in Carlshalton but I’ve never seen one apart from there.

What was the AP on the base model in Q1? I’m guessing it’s gone up now in Q2.

The Installer my local dealers use recommended the Jeff Gosling Apex Assist 150kg hoist because he said it had more reliable actuators than the Autochair?  But I wonder whether he said that because of commission? I had an Olympian 100kg and it was fine.

DJ Wheels – Yes! I never realised until the other day that although EV has huge lithium battery they use small 12v lead acid batteries to power the ancillaries when the car. The reason why apparently is that they can use existing off the shelf 12v car components rather than specialist components design to work with EV voltages.

If the hoist actuators were rated to 24v dc you could actually power the hoist from the 24v mob device by plugging in a flying lead to mob device charge point.

I’m having a 150kg Jeff Gosling fitted to an Enyaq. But it’s not been fitted yet.

Availability of robust fixing points in boot is important, as well a strength of boot floor for heavy mob device, as is boot opening height in particular

                                                  JG website

“The height of the mobility device must be significantly less (approximately 100mm) than the height of the boot opening to allow room for the jib arm of the hoist. The boot measurement is taken at the height of the boot opening at its lowest point.”
