Hi @kezo
Just a final update. The installation guy came and sorted the EV charger tails.
The ‘Emergency electrician’ came later that afternoon and was here for a couple of hours. He is sending the EIC in the post and is also informing the local building control. He didn’t say anything about the fuse upgrade and what was causing the burning smell when I told him.
Anyway thank you so much for your help and insight into this and needless to say I won’t be calling on the‘Emergency Electrician’ in future.December 8, 2025 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Disabled people driving luxury cars on your dime? Just the latest rightwing lie #319092It’s a very good article, but I take issue with the heading. Let’s not forget that the government that has implemented this cull on the Motability scheme is a Labour one.
This Labour government is only a Labour government in name. They are trying to appeal to Reform voters and haven’t got a clue.
Hi @kezo
Just a quick update. The DNO changed the fuse to 100amp and the Ohme installation guy is coming on Tuesday morning to do the tails.
The ‘emergency electrician’ cancelled because he was unwell and has rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.I will let you know what the situation is then.
Thanks again @kezo. I have printed out the bold bit from your previous post re EIC. I will make sure it is done correctly.
I have had someone from DNO who said he was passing and had a look. He said they will fit a new grey box later today. I will let you know when I am all sorted.Hi @kezo The installer came this morning and said the main fuse was burning hot about 30 degrees. He called the DNO to replace it as an emergency. So waiting for them now. He did say about the EV charger tails going into the main consumer unit and that they should be going to the Henley blocks. He said to ring Ohme when the DNO have done and he will change the tails.
That’s brilliant @kezo. I will ring Ohme tomorrow and I will keep you updated.
Thank you very much for your help.No smell with the white goods on.
Thanks. is this ok?
When the MCB tripped on the old fuse box it was a 16 amp one which I assume was not enough for the white goods that was running. A lot of what you have said has gone over my head but I will ensure that the electrician gives me an EIC on Wednesday. I will give the white goods a run now that I had on last night and let you know if any smell happens. It was only the dishwasher and dehumidifier and nothing tripped. I can’t understand why the EV charger didn’t trip. I will ring Ohme first thing tomorrow and see what they say.

Thanks @kezo
No I can’t smell anything near the EV consumer unit. I am attaching pictures of the Henley blocks and consumer unit opened.
The electrician hasn’t given me a EIC but I have chased him up and he is coming out on Wednesday to give me it. He was trying to say that it would be an extra charge so obviously not very trustworthy. Yes the top gland is a bit crooked. And the DNO said that the fuse didn’t need upgrading at the time.

Hi@Kezo
Thank you for any help that you can give. I am attaching the photos hopefully they are what you need.

Forgot to add I can’t see any signs of burning.
November 25, 2025 at 12:18 pm in reply to: Luxury cars removed from Motability ahead of budget #317952What is far right in people wanting transparency? Too many people get benefits just for claiming they cannot work due their mental state. But they have enough mental state to go on the TV? The whole system must be reshuffled. If Liebour wanted, they could get out and provide a clear and concise message that Motability scheme offering very expensive car with unlimited AP would be better for the treasury’s coffin. But they’re spineless, led by pro-palestine, pro-trans pro-whatever-you-want but the needs of the majority of the British people.
He doth protest too much. Way to address absolutely nothing of what has been said and argue millions of miles past the actual topic. Here’s a hint. This isn’t about immigrants, nor jews, nor, in fact, eligibility. This is about “free luxury cars”, as peddled by and to ignorant morons. You know, the people complaining that disabled people drive BMWs. Disabilities of any kind. PS: no one mentioned “far right”. I said ignorant right-wingers, but the shoe quite clearly fits.
Clearly he is a far right nut job. To say that this government is pro Palestine is the biggest joke of the year. He must believe everything that Farage says.
Remember folks that before the Nazis exterminated the Jews they practiced on the disabled both physically and mentally. It’s a problem with Ohme and Hyundai.
I received this reply from Ohme
November 26, 2024 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #294084What is the quickest time someone got their ohme installed? I don’t dance waiting 8 weeks for mine
We ordered the car on 18/10/24 and had the charger fitted on 31/10/24 so less than a fortnight.
Also the 750 ends soon and I would be getting this car if I did have that going towards it.
When is the £750 ending for existing customers?

Part of a £1,400 package unfortunately. But the price of the iD4 is rumoured to go down significantly tomorrow.
Ah thank you. That rules it out then.

We are in the North West between Liverpool and Manchester so I don’t know if that’s local to you.
Unfortunately not sorry. Happy to answer any questions you may have . Anyway I hope everything works out for you ?
many thanks for all your help Kezo
Any time mate ? Have a good Christmas ??
No problems @kezo and thank you once again I will see what the new year brings with the scheme and if I need any help with a charger install I will let you know.
@kezo Thank you so much for such a detailed reply. The first paragraph I am afraid just goes over my head but if the DNO sort it all good. Yes the green/yellow earthing cable goes to the pipe connected to the gas meter in the garage and presumably the bare wire to the water pipe inlet. The two silver clad boxes – one is for electric shower and the other is for the light switch for the cupboard under the stairs where the electric meter is. No idea why 2 Wylex fuse boxes. Not had economy 7. Maybe previous owner had it. So all things considered I think it’s quite positive if we can find a car suitable to my wife’s needs. As you said I will know more when a survey is done and take it from there. Thank you once again you are a star
If you were to go electric and the survey pick up your Wylex boards need changing, tell them you just want them to fit the charger with a dedicated consumer (part of the install) and you will get them looked at once everthing else is in order and any DNO minor works done. Ohme or rather their contractors will charge you a small fortune to undertake a consumer unit upgrade. You will get a far better price from a local electrician and dare I say it a better job done! As for bonding what we assume to be the main water inlet, its up to you if you had it done at time of having the charger fitted or call a local sparky and save a few bob. Neither here or there though. I won’t be far off the ball park with what I said and from looking at the photo however, you can request an in person survey prior to ordering an EV with Motability. The aim is not to get ripped off! If your local I don’t mind taking a closer look if you wanted ?
Thanks again @kezo I will request a survey probably in January prior to ordering if we find a suitable EV and take on board what you have said.
