I have just had this done. Had the cataract done about five years ago and my vision was becoming blurred. This procedure has made such a big difference. If you need it and get offered it, take it!

Good to hear you can see again!

Only had a cataract surgery in Febuary, so would be displeased needing YAG so soon.

I didn’t get iStents, the reason for cataract surgery in right eye (secondary glaucoma), so will have to continue with drops.

I need both distance & near glasses??, which the optician will sort this coming Monday.

I have varifocal glasses, I wonder if that might be an option for you?

              Best of luck for tomorrow

Put simply, I don’t know mate, as my mum said the very same thing, but I told her I’m not an old git like her😂

My opticians makes up lenses in house, so my thoughts are just have the right lens changed in both pairs and make sure I’m happy with them before spending out on new glasses. I can then decide what I want and whether to go for a seperate pair of sunglsses or brands like Transitions, single focuus, progressive or bifocal.

I have transitions as well. They work really well these days, except for in a car. They need UV light to make them work, and as you know, glass stops that. So I have a pair of prescription sun specs that I keep in the car for driving.

I am sure the optician will help you decide, and lighten your wallet!

I’m sure they will happily help to lighten my wallet, but they will have to fight the moths first!

My right eye just met DVLA 6/12 requirements before having cataract done, but for a good while I have relied on my left eye, which has superior distance vision been able to read bottom line on eye chart unaided. Shame I was careless and didn’t wear safety goggles when younger!

Essilor (transitions) drivewear lenses and the new generation Xtractive darken behind the windscreen. Hoya extra dark and Zeiss drive safe are well known brands with photochromic lenses that darken behind the windscreen.

My initial thinking, depending how the new lens has been checked tomorrow and how I go on with new lenses, will be glasses for computer use/reading, distance and distance sunglasses.

I will have to create a thread lol.

                    Thanks DD 🙂

Well for me at the moment I only have 1 lens over my left eye. The right eye no lens as they took it out because I was struggling, getting bad eye strain.

So after Thursday These glasses might as well go in to recycle bag. I will need a white stick lol.

Until 4 weeks after op when I see opthalmist for new prescription. So as both eyes done for distance, I will still need glasses for distance and reading plus sunnies for distance. Going to be poor after this.

In hindsight, should have forked out 4+K for multifocals.

The surgeon through his wisdom impanted +22 lens, which is for reading and makes my current reading glasses way too strong, requiring them to be held at arms length to read anything. Abeit, I can just make out 6/5 line when checked at the hospital last week.

I didn’t have cataracts, but was part of the op, so issed off he decided not to put stents in while doing the op, but carried on with catarct surgey!

For now I’m having the right lenses replaced in my glasses, which the opticians has the facility to do onsite. Only when I’m happy will I pay for 3 pairs of new glasses.

I like the look of those transitions @kezo. Glasses really cost a bomb once you factor in everything.

Might be worth comparing prices at your local opticians and compare with online companies. Thats what I intend to do.
