Had a EV6 for over 2 and a half years and loved every second of it.
definitely want to stay electric but the current models are no where near for charging speeds and distance on a single charge .
even the new Kia cars have gone backwards.

xpeng really interested me and they have a motability part to the website. Leads no where at moment.

just wondering if anyone has heard they are coming or the opposite and China brands will be removed from motability ( did hear a rumour about that)

All these chinese cars, like IM6, Xpeng G6 (I think) etc. could be a perfect fit for a “normal” disabled motorist.

But if you need a big boxy boot for a wheelchair or a working dog, somehow the choice of EVs narrows down to Skoda Enyaq.

The boot on the Kia EV6 is a silly size I think the G6 is similar so not a problem for the wheel chair .
would love the IM6 to drop as the boot is a great size and the car drives lovely.

not a fan of the Skoda just not in the ev6 class to drive but is the only one that fits what I need at the moment and a nice car.

Let’s say in a most polite way that both Xpeng G6 and IM6 are scintillatingly evocative cars if you have two legs and two fully functioning palms – it would be silly to argue.

It will be extremely interesting though to have “not-normal” disabled drivers experience with this type of an interior: of those with short arms, restricted arm movements or even missing fingers.

@kdwolf the KIA EV3/5/9 all have the sort of boot you’re talking about.  While the 9 won’t join the scheme, the others have and are worth a look.  There’s also the PV5, it has the ID Buzz vibe but without the Veedub cool.

As for Xpeng, the g6 coupe isn’t likely to join but the g9 might depending upon how expensive it is when it gets here.  The L03 has similar looks to the g6, it might join.  It mostly depends on what conversations between Motability and Xpeng have been in the past.

I loved KIA EV6 at the time, but it was some £3,000 more expensive than Enyaq 85x SportLine, too low for my daily routine, nor the boot was not boxy enough and significantly smaller than of Enyaq (and no, I would swap Enyaq for something else any day).

From the interior images of G6 / G9 / IM6 and from consulting Dr Google my understanding is that they have scarce to no buttons, like Tesla, which may be no-go for a significant number of disabled motorists.

Indeed PV5 is a lovely car, but at the moment I am trying not to end up with a bus.

I think Xpeng’s main issue is going to be lack of dealers. I’m in Suffolk and the nearest dealer is 95 miles or just under 2 hours away in Northampton.

Non starter for me.

I think the Changan Deepal is probably a nicer car but again the nearest dealer is an hour away. That’s just about doable.

There’s a few that are on with some coverage issues.

Nearest Tiggo is Exeter, 100 miles each way.

Xpeng is another 20 miles down the road.

PV5 is at the commercial dealership, some 45 miles away.

At one stage the nearest Fiat dealership was only 180 miles away as they got dropped in favour of Omoda/Jaecoo.

Cornwall is ok for mainstream but once you start going a little rarer it’s a black hole.

Distance is an issue for me as well, nearest current dealer is 30 miles each way, Xpeng would be 50, not bad. PV5 is 70+ miles. OK, its not really an issue as long as the service intervals are sensible and the car isn’t a friday afternoon special requiring numerous dealer visits (looking at you, my last Vauxhall!). One or two services over the 3 years wont make it a big deal. Now there’s  a thought, dealership a long way off and a fault ridden car – how many of our new lower than a low thing mileage allowance would be wasted!

My only local option is Renault/Dacia, used to have MG as well, but they dropped that. Omoda/Jaecoo are 16 miles away, Ford, Kia (not commercial) about 18 miles. The rest are all in either Aberdeen, Perth or Dundee, so am used to travelling for the right choice.

Now I am confused.  I thought the recent change does not apply to Scotland?

Hi, I visited a Changan showroom just outside Leeds, I was very impressed, a lovely looking car, and only one specification, which comes fully loaded, you can however get a very fast edition, the chap in sales, was 100% they were coming on the motability scheme, that was about 2 months ago.
