As per the title, what’s the maximum you’ll pay in cash for work on your house / car? Do you find most are happy to accept Bacs transfer.

I have just paid my electrician, Plumber, and kitchen fitter all by BACS. These days of DWP having the power to look at your banking, so we now do everying legit and with full itemised receipt to cover our backs. As to where out money has gone.

So no longer offer cash payments.

BACS every time these days, cash is very old skool. Even the chap who washes the car gets a bank transfer!!

I’m having some work done and the quote was around £7k. I was worried he’d want cash but I’m happy to confirm he’s okay with Bacs. There’s no way I was walking around here with 7 large in my back pocket.

Paying all or part of the bill with cash, will most often get you a discount or ex VAT if they are VAT registered.
