Found this on Wiki – “Social wasps are considered pests when they become excessively common, or nest close to buildings. People are most often stung in late summer, when wasp colonies stop breeding new workers; the existing workers search for sugary foods and are more likely to come into contact with humans; if people then respond aggressively, the wasps sting.”

So I guess they’re attracted by all the ‘coffee and cake’.

    I know I am.

Mike this is no use for your situation but would be excellent for the house. My son bought a “bat zapper thingy” to kill anything small that flies, its like a smaller tennis racket with batteries in and fries the wee beggers when you swat them.

Brilliant piece of kit on Amazon.

Are you best to wave your arms to get rid of one or keep still ?

Best just to ignore it. Mike, unless you want it to sting you on the nose.

Unless it gets in your beer, of course. Then it’s all out war.

I tend to ignore them but a gentle wave of the arm works most time.

Haha he’ll have reactions of a cat by the time the summer ends ( if it hasn’t already ) 😭

those magnetic blind thingys are great for keeping the flys out , they attach dead easy  to patio/french doors

Yes he has them but during the hot weather all the Windows were open also, so no chance of stopping the wee buggers

ive noticed a huge increase in spiders setting up home around the house, only been here since last nov so dont know if its just normal for here but theres loads of the blighters far more than anywhere else ive lived.

some are proper monsters huge things.

or is it a general increase due to weather etc?
