Hi,

I am sure I read somewhere (possibly here) that WPMS no longer receives the automatic gearbox grant (~£700) on receipt of your new car.  I have done a search but can’t seem to find it.

I am currently on week 4 of awaiting an answer from the SPVA, they will “reply as soon as possible”.

Any war pensioners know if this is still received?

It ceased as of 1st October 2025.

Albeit the decision to end the auto grant was made much further up the food chain and despite representations from such as BLESMA. RBL etc.

If you had claimed it in the past, you should have received notification prior to its demise? I received a letter about it even though I am no longer on the scheme and last used the grant about 9 years ago!

Thanks for the swift response.  I knew I had read about it somewhere.  A crappy decision, my new car was almost paid for with that and the AP.

I received a letter a couple of months ago. Really annoying as my ordering window opens next week!

I haven’t received any letter, but then again, it’s just normal for the government.
