January 11, 2023 at 8:18 pm #205745due to the chip situation and the manufacturers scaling back production etc some cars are taking over a year, vauxhall are getting that way, vw have been attrocious. so it all depends what youve ordered and how ddishonest your dealers being.
January 11, 2023 at 8:50 pm #205747Hi Lyn congrats on your award and welcome 🙂
Depending on the car you choose will depend on the wait time – a factory order as the majority are now have the longes’t wait times. Its ring around several dealerships depending on how far you willing to travell and asking if they have it in stock and are willing to let you have it on Motability. Certain cars such as Nissans Qashqui stock is available for Motabilty delivery within a month, other 3months onwards
Do you have a particular car in mind or are you open minded ?
When searcing for cars available on the scheme, I use Motaclarity rather than Mobilities site, as I find its far less clustered, and a bit more informative.

January 11, 2023 at 8:58 pm #205749Our first (and current) Motability car took around 10 weeks.
Our next car was ordered in November 2021, and is due to be delivered at some point in the next 8-12 weeks.
So we went from 2.5 months to probably around 16 months.

Huh, no, we haven’t cancelled the GTE. We did consider cancelling it after test driving the Megane E-Tech, however.. sunk cost Fallacy, if that means anything to anyone.
The Golf is in production (not just ordered, but actually being built since end of Nov 2022), so cancelling at that point seemed like we’d have wasted a full year.

January 12, 2023 at 10:18 am #205785Yes @joss an old boss use to say it frequently when he had been sitting on something for a while and want idea’s to add to the projoct, I’d often sugest a different way planing it. He would agree for for the the first few hours or untill later the next day or so, then either come up to me or call me in his office and bellow it in my here at the top of voice.
Not heard anyone say it for a long long time and along came Rene saying it, which made me smile as it brought back fond memories of an old boss and long time friend, sadly he’s no longer with us.
Anyhow I think Rene made the right decision:-)
January 12, 2023 at 1:03 pm #205830@joss My bad, and yeah obviously, a sunk cost wiener isn’t really a thing lol. I blame it being late.
Lets hope that was the right decision, because the Megane is a cracking car. If only it’d arrive at some point this year, harumph.

Hi Sammie – my best answer is how long is a piece of string!
Alot depends on colour, trim level and whether you have ordered any factory options 🙂

Test drive last Thursday – haggled with Mazda dealers far and wide over the weekend – agreed order in principle Sunday at test drive dealer! (Stoneacre Mazda Halifax)
Off to Halifax tomorrow with my Daughters old Fiat 500 as PX for £3000 to put in the order for end of next week delivery. CX60 Takumi convenience pack, pan roof, driver assistance pack and Mazda protect. Just over £6K AP for a £55,000 car for £71 a month including most motoring costs except fuel. We sometimes lose sight of the fantastic benefits of Motability and perhaps need some perspective on just what a good deal it really is.

I think you meant £71 a week there Bob, plus of course your £6k AP needs to be factored in, so the cost to you is just over £17,000 over 3 years or £24,500 if you keep the car for 5 years. Still less money than running one from new privately though. As always with Motability, the best value is at the top end of the scheme. Runabouts however are poor value for money through Motability.

Bob your figures aren’t adding up mate! The CX60 Takumi with the Conveniene pack and pan roof costs £7995 – £3000 PX works out at £4995 andyet your saying its costing just over £6k?
We were allowed a 24hr test drove the CX-60 last week but after a couple hours we found the seats too short, as we felt it was missing pull up/out seat extender found on some Audi and BMW and missing enough thigh and patella support.
Within the first 45min – hour were excited as all was positive, then my wife started feeling uncofortable and her Sciatica started to play up, which made me think of the long distance drives I do. Once we got back in our Tucson and half way home my wife mentoned her pain was easing and pointed out that her Patella was at the end of the seats but the seats were also higher to.
It might be worth seeing if you can have an extended test drive which is a must really given you will have it for 3yrs 🙂
