I’ve had my Mokka since January now and thought I’d share my experience with others.
Twice the software has glitched on me.. the first time I had black screens where I turned the engine on (multiple times with no success.. I even left it off over night and tried again) and both the instrument panel and infotainment screens didn’t come on, they stayed black. The only way to unglitch it was to physically disconnect the 12V battery for a minute then let the car reboot properly for 30 minutes.

The second time was more dangerous, The instrument panel completely froze whilst driving.. which resulted in absolutely no display of speedometer or fuel gauge updates etc. I had to pull over and turn the engine off for five minutes for it to correct itself.

I’m lucky that they let me end the lease early [at the cost of £250 though]. I have a new Skoda Enyaq on order and this will be handed over as soon as it arrives.

Other than the software issues and occasional turbo lag it’s a great little car, I just wish they had a more robust way of preventing the software issues, especially for the instrument panel.

I had exactly this issue (twice) in a Mercedes GLB hire car a few years ago. As you say, it’s very unsettling as you have no idea how fast you are going, which is no defence if you get done for speeding. This is one of the unfortunate aspects of the ever increasing drive towards digitalisation and touch screens although, in the case of the latter (which are dangerous IMHO) it’s good to see that some manufacturers are listening to customer feedback and starting to reintroduce physical buttons for the most regularly used functions.

I love technology and all that it can do, and I’m no old fogey, but I think it’s gone way too far in cars and you now feel like you’re driving a computer on wheels. I’m seriously considering buying a second hand car that pre-empts a lot of these changes (inc nanny state bings and bongs) to rediscover the joy of driving!

I’ve always liked the look and propertions of the (current) Mokka and did test drive an EV in ’23. Nice drive but found it too small and went eC4 instead. I love the look of the new R5 now but know that will be too small also, luckily I like the R4 as well and hopefully that’ll be big enough.

i am with you Glos Guy, on a couple of the card on my long list ive been considering getting the lower spec version as it doesnt have half the bingy bongy stuff. likewise i am looking down the range as top spec has sunroof etc which i am not a fan of. and yet if there was a suitable ragtop on the scheme i would camp out to get one wierd dont know why.

My Peugeot 2008 GT (Petrol Aut0) was supposed to be delivered in May. It’s been pushed back to June but I have a feeling it will be pushed back even further. Looks like I will pick up a Mokka ultimate petrol auto if it does.

They seem to be a lot easier to get  than the 2008’s and could probably get one in stock if I don’t mind travelling. Not sure how much notice the dealership gets when it comes to a delay but planning on phoning on the 1st June since it’s supposed to be ready by the 30th.
