‘If’ I decided on an EV3 Air, and used a dealer in Manchester offering £0 AP, would the dealer make sure the car was fully charged to get me back home (having never owned or used an EV, I don’t fancy my first learning experience being within 50 miles of collection).
Do I leave my current lease with the dealer when collecting the replacement car?
All this assumes the car does not have to be collected prior to my end of lease date.

Hi, im sure if you explain your circumstances to the garage, they might accommodate you.
However having been with an ev for 2 years, I’ve come to the belief that tesla offers one of the best charging plans as long as you use them at least twice a month when you need to charge away from home. There extremely flexible with when you want to use them on a monthly basis.
As for the rest have a chat with motorbility they will explain it to you for your individual case.

He’s not legally or otherwise required. Generally speaking though, when we were talking/ordering our Ioniq 6, we asked if we could have it fully charged – and when we arrived, it was charging. Not fully charged, but they plugged it in that morning, leaving us plenty of range.
It’s something you’d need to ask the dealership, they do not automatically charge it to full, you’d have to request it.

Can’t be. The date you pick up the new lease is the day you drop the old one off, because on that day you’re not insured on that lease anymore.
I have not once had that a car was ready to collect before the original lease end-date. Once you put in the pin, your current lease ends and you take stewardship of the new one.
As for charging, if you have a debit card, it’s kind of a non-issue. You drive to a charger (the Sat Nav helps you there, alternatively apps like Electroverse etc), you park, you swipe your debit card on the charger, it’ll tell you to plug in, you plug in – and wait until it’s charged enough. If you’re too “scared” or concerned, just go for a test drive at a closer dealership and ask them to show you how to charge it.
But generally speaking, there’s no need for concern (easier said than done, we had concerns too – to the point where we went to a charger at 1am in the morning to figure things out in my time etc). While there can be issues, it’s nowhere near as bad as it once was.
Most importantly though, call the dealership that you’d like to order from, and ask specifically your salesperson to guarantee enough range in the car to get it home.

As Rene says you swipe your card plug in and start charging.
To STOP charging, swipe your card again and that usually stops the charging. You will know as you should hear a clunk as the interlock releases the charge plug.
Last week i plugged into a charger at a starbucks. It charging at 175kw and would be at 80% in 10 minutes.

@Rene I worded that completely wrong. What I meant to say was that on some of these Nil AP / Cashback offers, the car has to be collected by the end of the month. As my lease runs till September, I couldn’t take advantage of a Nil AP offer where the car requires collecting by end of June.All this assumes the car does not have to be collected prior to my end of lease date.

I see what you mean, yeah, i did interpret that wrong. No harm, no foul.
