Did anyone on here know that over a 3 year 60,000 mile lease you are only allowed 8 new tyres.

I didn’t know that but I have the same car as yourself and with my lease up in less than 3 months I’ve had 2 tyres fitted that only had about 5K miles wear on them because their self sealing tyres and Kwik-Fit would not repair them.

Anyway that leaves me with 6 tyres out of 8 to go so I wonder if I can get a credit for them. LOL

Are you going to get another Tiguan?

No I can’t afford it but that besides the gear shift on the right-hand stalk would mean having a more complicated and more expensive Lodgesons remote control because I believe they moved the wiper stalk to the left-hand side of the steering wheel. While the wipers are automatic there are times when a wipe is needed when the auto wipers don’t work.

Looking for hybrid to help with running cost but at £5K or more AP plus another £1K for adaption and limited to a 3 year lease rules the Hybrid Tiguan out as does the Touran and going by what were seeing in the Tiguan forum the new Tigger seems to have problems.

No problems with the current Tiguan though and apart from the two tyres the only other thing I’ve had trouble with is the sunglasses holder keeps jamming but that might be down to myself lining the inside with felt to stop the rubber mat in there marking my glasses.

Ordering a Ford Kuga ST-Line X Hybrid tomorrow, top of the line with just about every extra you could need, even rear heated seats and sunroof all for under £2,300 AP.

8 replacement tyres is practically 3 full sets in 3 years.  I understand about punctures and accidents but 8 replacement tyres feels plenty.

I went to Kwik fit today to get my fronts checked as they look worn on the outsides. They said that the tyres were shot on the front but they are also shot on the rear! Thats my first set of tyres done then and I am on less than 11,000 miles. They weren’t shocked in the slightest as they said EV’s chew through them. So I am half way through my  lease almost at 11,000 miles but half way through my quota. God help me if I was a high mileage driver as they said front michelins were over £215 each and rear michelins are 269 each! gulp! Thats a cost of £968 for a set of tyres!!

Worry free motoring, free insurance, free tax, free tyres. As long as you only do 10,000 miles in 3 years.

Wonder if motability take into account the fact that tyres on an ev have a smaller starting depth

I wonder what would happen if you use up your quota and they say you have to pay for replacements but cant afford it. I wouldn’t have £1000 ready to pay for tyres. I would likely have to tell motability to come and collect the car and be without it.

You’re close to the limits of our fair usage policy We’re getting in touch to let you know you’re approaching the limits of our fair usage policy on your lease. You can see more information about the policy and its limits below.

                          What this means for you
The policy is there to ensure all customers benefit from our all-inclusive lease. Overuse of services, like tyre replacements, can affect the long-term cost of the Scheme for everyone. So far during your lease, Kwik Fit have replaced 4 tyres. This brings you close to our fair usage limit.

We recommend you take extra care to extend the life of your tyres and reduce wear.

Get your vehicle serviced regularly, in line with manufacturer guidelines
Keep your tyres inflated to the correct pressure
Get your wheel alignment checked if you feel your tyres are wearing unevenly
If you continue to need tyre replacements, we might ask you to cover any future replacement costs.

We’re sharing this with you now, so you have time to take care of your tyres and avoid unexpected costs.

N.B. I obviously have no intention to leave it as is – need some time to write them back:

                          1. it is known issue with Skoda – alignment isn’t their strong part (Dr. Google has some examples)
                          2. Terrible country roads (again, I have no problem to support my statement here too)
                          3. Much heavier EV vehicle, causing more T&W
                          4. Images of my current tyres, clearly demonstrating alignment issue

Just waiting to finalise my current ombudsman case – their investigator upheld my complaint, but Motability refused and demanded it to be forwarded to the actual ombudsman, the requirement I fully supported.

                          Sent from a mobile device.
Apologies for briefness and spelling mistakes.

I got this wording from their website

                            Tyre allowance
You can have up to eight (8) tyre replacements over three years, as part of your agreement. If your lease is longer than three years, you might have two (2) extra tyres, for each extra year.

                            Excessive use
If you go over the eight-tyre limit within the three years, we might ask you to cover the cost of any extra tyre replacements.

                            Fair review
We understand every customer’s situation is different. When we review tyre replacements, we’ll always consider factors like:

                            Your vehicle’s mileage
                            How you’re using your vehicle

                            Your responsibilities
To help us keep our tyre replacement policy fair and sustainable, we ask you to:

Report tyre damage quickly and accurately
Take reasonable care of your vehicle and its tyres, including avoiding known hazards and unsafe driving conditions
Give honest information about the cause of tyre damage when we ask you
Take part in reviews if your tyre use goes over the standard allowance, or shows signs of excessive damage
If you follow these guidelines, you’ll help make sure we manage tyre replacements fairly for all customers.

it would have the cheapest ones put on it for sure- no way I would be paying premium prices. If they dont like that, they can take the vehicle back.

They put tyres on cars with a seal inside, Kwik-Fit will not repair them. If you get 2 punctures that’s only 6 tyres left. I had never heard of this until I got an email from them about tyres.

I must admit I was shocked when I had two tyres with a nail in them on the same wheel over a one year period only to have both renewed. With the first one that had less than 5,000 miles on it Kwik-Fit said it had to go back to MB. I can’t imagine they do that but perhaps they send them somewhere to be repaired because they don’t want to get their hands too dirty in the local shop. I’ve heard they can be repair but charge extra.

The other three wheels on the car with 3 months left of the current lease still have at least 5mm on them all across the width of the tyre.

Retail price for these tyres is around £320 each so two nail have cost getting on for £700.

I’ve had 9 tyres in one lease – Grand Picasso returned at 74,000 miles 3 years and 3 months old. never got asked about it and never knew there was a limit.

3x punctures. Kwikfit said couldn’t be repaired. Worn out 2 sets of new fronts and a set of rears.

As for EV’s chewing tyres, that’s daft. Kia Soul EV, 42,000 miles, two fronts only at 34,000 worn out. Pretty much the same sort of mileage I got from the S-Max that followed it. They were much the same power/weight wise as well. Current Ioniq 5 at 10,000 miles, tyres still well over 1/2 tread. I’d expect mid 20,000s at a minimum.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
