CapuchinI know a few of us are eagerly awaiting delivery of these so thought I’d make a thread so we can all keep track of updates etc
Ordered ultimate Misty jungle (with light leather) on 9th November. Delivery slated for end of March. Dealer has had no update yet.

BrentI’m having a similar issue to you. Morecat.
Hyundai confirmed my order was shipping and handover would be 17th Dec. Then 2 weeks later, it won’t be built until 6th Jan with a delivery in mid May for some reason.
I’m sure the car is great, but hyundais allocation and customer service is extremely poor and confusing.
I spoke to my dealer and they have no idea why its happening, but he also said even if I cancel. It still gets built as motability buy the car? Its all a bit weird, and it seems some of us are waiting much longer than other companies + it makes no sense how people have ordered in July and got it in November.
November 5, 2022 at 5:28 pm #199883Well today was a cold day around 12c, did 70 miles on motorway, up to 70mph, with heater on, passenger and 40kg of luggage, 4.6miles per kWh, very pleased

If you mean my22 and my23, probably a few subtle changes, very minor.

NigelSorry. I meant my23 and my23

BrentJust seen that the mg4 is on the scheme, but the AP is oddly very high considering it’s cheaper than the kona, which is a shame. Hopefully it drops next quarter as it looks like the only option for non city drivers.

I don’t think £1999 for the Trophy, the top spec, is too bad nowadays, I think the Kona was £1599 when it was removed last quarter and the price had risen gradually. Like the Kona it has a smallish boot, albeit a bit bigger and the claimed range of 270 is competitive. The 64kWh battery being around 10% less efficient than the Hyundai. If I was changing car now, I would certainly shortlist this car.

BrentDoes anyone have a comparison of the mg4 to the 64kwh kona? Quite interested in it at the minute and saw it only has a 4 month wait. Tho that’s probably optimistic

BrentUpdate from hyundai today.
Delivery has changed from May to February. Somewhat good news, but still really annoying as fuels jumped 10p a litre here.

DeanI ordered my Hyundai Kona Electric Ultimate in January 2022.
Initial delivery expected around June 2022.
In April, I was told delivery now expected August 2022.
In June, delivery slipped to October 2022.
In September, delivery slipped to March 2023(!).
In late Sept/early Oct, delivery jumped to December 2022(!?)
Late October, delivery slipped to 3 Jan 2023.
Last week, dealer said car had now been built, was on a ship, expected Tilbury 3 Jan 2023, ready at dealers around 14th January 2023.
So, 12 months in total from order to (expected) delivery.
The only advice I’d give is to not believe a single word Hyundai says around delivery! Just order the car & forget about it – it turns up when it turns up. Hyundai’s “customer service” is utterly non-existent, and the way they treat customers & dealers is pretty ropey. I assume the general shortage of in-demand electric cars allows them to act as if it’s a sellers market, knowing they’ll sell the cars if any orders are cancelled, especially Motability vehicles, as I suspect their margins on retails sales are massive compared to Motability sales.
I contacted Motability, who also couldn’t care less. They specifically said there was nothing whatsoever they could do, and they couldn’t plug the gap with a short-lease car – I hadn’t even asked for that. Not the most charitable of organisations.
My dealer has been really good – Hyundai Hutchings. They had a few Bayon mild Hybrids arrive in stock, and I could have one instead of the Kona if I was desperate, but I’m happy to wait to get the car I actually want.
With the state the world is in at present – Putin’s Ukraine war, huge microchip shortage, rampant inflation, rising interest rates, recession imminent, house price bubble close to bursting, Covid’s effect on the worldwide economy, Tories self-imploding the UK economy, additional Brexit costs of business, shipping costs shooting up, UK government withdrawing the electric car grant – getting a nice, shiny new car suddenly seems not very important anymore, and I’ll be happy if it arrives anytime!
November 10, 2022 at 6:25 pm #200141My dealer has been really good – Hyundai Hutchings.
I ordered my Tuscon Ultimate from Martin at Hutchings Back in December and at the time could of had any car in the showroom. As dealerships go they were superb.
November 10, 2022 at 7:22 pm #200144Hi Dean,
Ordered the same car as you also in January and also been given the same Delivery date.
We also ordered from Hutchings, to be fair to Martin he gave expected delivery in August but in reality expect October or even November.
Looks like our cars will be on the same boat.

NevilleaHas anyone taken delivery of their car which was on the Grand Uranus which docked in Tilbury on 21 October. I was told my car was on that ship but heard nothing from the dealers that it has arrived with them. Three weeks from arrival at Tilbury to arrival at the dealers seems a long time. Another ship arrived last night but had not come from Ulsan where I believe the Kona is made. The next ship is not due until late this month. I fully realise that there are problems with cars but it would be good if the dealers could keep us informed.
November 11, 2022 at 10:27 am #200191Have you tried contacting the dealership. Would be my first ‘port’ of call…
November 11, 2022 at 10:52 am #200195
DeanI’m fully expecting the ship to be sunk by Putin as it enters the Mediterranean……

3 weeks is normal as the cars have additional bits added at Tilbury, plus a PDI etc. This took 10 weeks late spring.
November 11, 2022 at 12:18 pm #200212Today’s stats, remarkable.
November 11, 2022 at 12:22 pm #200213Excellent Frippers.. mine are on the drop due to the heating being on. It’s been cold here. Warmer today and high for mid Nov. 15c but very windy.
Still I charged it the other night and was left with 322 miles, which is only 2 lower than my best one.
I need heating tho lol
Current Car: Hyundai Kona Premium EV...2 way 40kg hoist
Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoistNovember 11, 2022 at 12:34 pm #200219<p style=”text-align: left;”>Good figures fwippers.
Way to go Struth – when range isn’t an issue – bring on the Kona comforts.
My mileage is very low at the moment – delights of covid early October – left me with a persistent cough – hence not getting out much – it seems like weeks since I last put it on charge; but I thought I would let it drop below 100 miles left before charging. Extremely mild here still got summer half hardies blooming in tubs and baskets.</p>
Still very impressed with the Kona – I would have to think long and hard to find something to criticise that I wasn’t aware of when I chose it – all that was promised has been delivered and then some – just time now to judge again after 2+ years.November 11, 2022 at 12:39 pm #200221That was done without effort, albeit as a mild day did not need to use air con, and heating just a tad at the start, heated seats do the job for me. Next week I have a 260 mile trip. I have identified two charging stations, one has a dozen 350kWh chargers and they charge 80p kWh, the second is a pair of 13kWh chargers which through Octopus Electroserve are 28p. I am hoping the range will be sufficient. I will wish to have a minimum of 30 miles additional range for the 125-130 mile journey. The latter although slower are suitable as I will be spending appx 3 hours close to this location.

TimHi Neville, I like you am waiting still. We were told on Sunday by Hyundai UK (via messenger) that our car has cleared Tilbury and they are now waiting for transport. They gave me a vin number so that must mean something eh? They reckon the dealership should be contacting us within the next 2 weeks but as they have been awful with communication, I’ll believe it when I see it. You can guarantee a change to wet and cold within the next 2 weeks by the way especially with the projected driving we have coming up and the range anxiety building! 😉 amazing stats Fwippers btw 🙂
November 11, 2022 at 5:43 pm #200239Our car was on the Grand Uranus. It arrived at the dealership today and we collect on Wednesday.
I think we’ve been lucky, we ordered May 13th so just over 6 months wait for usNovember 11, 2022 at 7:58 pm #200262Good to see some of you getting your cars soon.

I wouldn’t worry too much about range anxiety. The on board computer is pretty accurate and if you’re planning a long journey beyond its range, realistically over 275, then itsa question of locating a charging station. In summer, 37c I did 281 miles in 1 day, most on motorway, with around 50 miles remaining. Next week I have the same trip in maybe 12c. I have identified 2 charging stations and will consider charging depending on how much energy I have used on arrival.
November 15, 2022 at 10:40 am #200526
TimHeard from the dealer yesterday and our car arrives with them on Wednesday or Thursday this week and we can collect early next week! ?
Thanks for the reassurance Fwippers btw. We will be doing a +500mile trip at Christmas to the very far NW of Scotland but I’ve already checked the Electoverse and Zapp apps (plus charge place Scotland app) for the routes and chargers. It’s just a different way of driving I guess and if time spent charging is the sacrifice for reduced “fuel” cost then bring it on ?
