I watched an interesting interview yesterday with Elon Musk. His comment on reliability/build issues was that quality of all new models will be problematic during the ramp up phase. Quality is best at inception or steady state. This is actually commonly known in any manufacturing.
Many new models in their first edition state can often be poor.

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

Elon Musk would like you to think so, but it’s not true of established car makers.  They have eons of experience designing and building cars which Tesla lacks.  Now the big car makers are in the game, Tesla will not survive.

So, 12 years after producing his first cars, at what point does the “ramp up phase” end? I’m sure all manufacturers have issues and all have excuses for them (that typically blame something/someone else).

But poor build is poor build, there are no real excuses other than quality control either not doing their job correctly or being told that the current quality level is correct for the price/market/gullibility of the buyers concerned.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

5 of my friends own Tesla, 2 outright and 3 on lease and none of them intend on replacing them with another. All have had issues in one form or another and all have suffered from reliability problems. The only good thing all of them scream about is the charging infrastructure, thats light years ahead of anything else.
