Yes, the council contacted us yesterday about it as we have contracts with the council for ploughing/gritting with our tractors. They think it is going to get fairly bad up here in the dales, with the snow and wind drifting.

Even though we are only in the yellow warning area, we have the ploughs on and salt spreaders loaded on the Fendt 742 and the two New Hollands. Plus we have the Snowcat if it gets really bad up here.

The council have us on standby from 1400hrs tomorrow for the following 72 hours for ploughing and gritting the local roads in the Dales (our ‘patch’ is Swaledale/ Wensleydale and over Buttertubs, which can be a bit hairy. Plus anywhere else they send us).

All our hill sheep are on low pasture and the cattle herds are all in, so our stock will be okay and we won’t have to dig any out of snow holes hopefully.

Rain, snow and wind what more could I ask for!

Also puts pay going back home to finish mums CCTV given she’s on amber warning.

Stay safe, stay in and watch the box.

It’s already bleddy wet.  Winds are expected to get rather hairy late this afternoon.  We’ve moved everything likely to be blown away to the most sheltered area, the gates get locked and then it’s fingers crossed.

It’s a yellow warning from 3pm and amber from 5 I think.  Winds on widespread gusts up to 90mph and over 100mph in exposed areas.  Cornwall is lovely until the storms come up from the Atlantic.

              Aaand we’ve been upgraded!!

Not an upgrade we’d want but the weather warning is now red, high risk of damage to property and life. The winds have definitely picked up to the point where even the street lights are having a wobble.

I was going to say that, but Mrs joss was watching lol, so thought better of it @kezo

Anyway, no snow or wind here. We have been very lucky in that respect thankfully.

10mm of snow if we are lucky, at the daughters house a few miles away they are snowed in ?

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

No need to bring pets/wife in, they weren’t going out in those conditions for any reason.

The house, car and occupants fared well in horrendous conditions.  We have several trees that are missing significant branches around us but they all managed to miss property.

There are thousands waiting for power to be restored and hundreds either have no water or severely poor pressure.  The current predictions are to get everything restored by early next week.  By some miracle people listened to advice and there’s been little evidence so far of many suffering significant injuries let alone the loss of life that these conditions often cause.

Hopefully those otherwise affected have also avoided the severe unpleasantness a storm could have provided.
