Some dealers are good to Motability customers.

Can I just sing the praises of JCB Renault/Dacia of Canterbury, Kent? More so, since some dealers aren’t good to us. Our local Nissan dealer – we considered the Qashqai epower Tekna – got back to us once, then never again.

We have just ordered an Austral Techno Esprit Alpine from them and they have been very helpful. Responded to initial contact within a few minutes and offered an immediate unacompanied test drive. The sales rep we dealt with – Nick Johnson – was helpful and polite and ‘no pressure’.

      Highly recommend.

PS. I just wish good customer service from dealers was the norm, rather than noteworthy.

          Excellent 🙂

My local(ish) Ford Motability lady is very good, VW absolutely useless, Skoda were very good when I was privately leasing a Yeti but not been overly helpful with the current Enyaq order, still not been given any update on build week etc. since ordering in September.

My friendly family run Citroen Dealer Thomas and Davies in Merthyr Tydfil have been fantastic.

my late brother had cars from them from 1997 to when he passed away in 2013.

I’ve had cars from them since 2005.

I poached my late friend Gary from Skoda in 2002 and he had cars from them from then to 2020 when he had to give up driving.

              I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Sinclair Skoda in Swansea have been great when I made an enquiry. Had a phone call back within an hour of calling from Adam, test drive a day later and order was simple. Advice was unbiased and useful.

Shout out here for Audi Exeter and Audi Hereford both of which treated me like royalty. Hereford even gave me an Audi Peaked Hat!!

I am so jealous. I went into my local shared Renault, Nissan dealer two weeks ago.one salesperson busy, so I helped myself looking around the Austral next to the service dept desk. Staff came and went, all ignoring me. Service dept looked at me, no interaction.
Bored of just entertaining myself, I wandered into the Nissan half, it’s just through an adjoining door.  Almost immediately, someone came up to me , I explained what we needed (Auto, elect boot  and seats) he explained which ones on Motability had these and even printed out the Motability price list while I looked around.

Back through to Renault, again another five minutes alone time until I finally caught someone’s eye, she came over and explained she wasn’t very knowledgeable about the cars (!), but took my name and number and I gave her a list of the features that are important to us. She’d get a sales person to call ASAP. Still waiting two week later, I’m assuming a sudden rush occurred.

                    Chalk and cheese.

Almost identical to my VW dealership, been in several times over the years, even took a friend to look for a car.

Nearest we ever got was after spending a good 30mins trying to get in and out of various cars with complete lack of interest from anyone my son and I were almost out of the door when someone asked if they could help.  By this time I’d had enough so I said no thanks, I was wanting to order a 40k+ car but obviously nobody wants my business so I’m off to the Ford dealer.

When I went to look at leasing a Yeti in 2017 it was, as you say, chalk and cheese.  I was wary as the Skoda branch was part of the same dealership (different location).  Soon as I tried one for size I was appoached and told to ask at the reception if I wanted any help with anything.  When I went I was told the salesman was busy with another customer and was asked if I could wait? they gave me a voucher for the in-branch cafe so I sat for 15mins and had a very nice sausage and bacon bun and a cup of tea 🙂  No surprise but I bought the Yeti from them 🙂

We found Hyundai excellent, on the other hand we found our local Skoda dealer abysmal, they point blank refused us a test drive full stop, strangely we gave them a miss.

Ford has been by far the worst over the years for us.

                              How the Across going?

Can’t fault the Across still achieving 50+ miles in EV with the heater on, apparently it is fitted with a heat pump rather than a ceramic heater.

Have ordered my last three from Hendy Ford in Portsmouth. Outstanding service including after sales. I even drove 100 miles each way for the one I have now having been offered a decent discount.

I must say that I have been getting (buying & mostly leasing) cars through Motability for the last 40 years and can only remember twice having problems, my very first order which was buying a Ford Escort as the only major problem I ever had and I cancelled it.  Since then I have had 10 cars from Glasgow, Paisley and Lanarkshire dealers without any real problems with the Manufacturer, Dealership or Sales Person. Although I did have one asking me to supply them with a duplicate Bankers Draft (equivalent to giving them cash) that they had lost, not an option, but they got our joint bank to provide it. But I do appreciate it can sometimes come down to luck and I do sympathise with those who have been less fortunate.

We had great service from Arthur’s of Wrexham (Peugeot)

Sam and Paul were really helpful right from the initial enquiry up to the handover and also good follow up communication since
