If the profits are accurate then it is a shambles.
It’ll be interesting to see what comes out of this for us in Scotland.
April 24, 2026 at 10:00 am #354010Surly one of the big car leasing companies would be keen to get on board with this? Guaranteed customer base returning every 3c years…… most low millage etc
April 24, 2026 at 10:15 am #354013When looking at the profit of Motability Operations, it’s always worth keeping in mind that their profit is after the payment of their excessive salaries and benefits (at all levels, not just the CEO). If they paid in line with the sector average then this profit would be several times this amount. All of which, of course, is funded by disabled people sacrificing their benefits.
April 24, 2026 at 10:42 am #354015This is really old news  @jamie1c
That MACS letter regarding the AVE scheme was sent in very early 2023.
It  was a reflection of the scheme’s profitability etc back then. It does not  reflect or address any of the current scheme changes.
Disability Advocates UK have simply resurrected an old letter and added their 2026 take on it, which due to the letter’s age doesn’t really serve any purpose.
Infact it makes it appear more an act of desperation by them.
If they are serious about challenging the current changes they must use contemporary evidence, not three  year old letters sent by a non departmental public body of their thoughts  to the then minister.

Ah ok, I didn’t realise that was an old letter.
Either way, the Scottish government are exploring options.
@gazzagaz you would think and hope so. The reduced mileage doesn’t affect me but I know it affects plenty of people. If changes do happen in Scotland and there is not tracking device then I’ll consider staying on the scheme, whatever that may look like.
April 24, 2026 at 11:14 am #354018Plus not just the excessive salaries. Why do they need to have an office in one of the most expensive locations in London which is lavishly kitted out at our expense.

Agreed. As long as they’re comfortable that’s all they care about.
April 24, 2026 at 11:28 am #354020Absolute nonsense these profit figures.
Any excess cash gets ploughed back into the scheme.
In 2023 we all received £750 off the AP, When renewing. £750 X 720,000 (motability members at that time) comes to 540 million.
As for the crackpot nonsense of how its run and its renumeration. That is none of our business.
If you are not happy with the service then go elsewhere. As I am doing.
You have to apply to the scheme, and accept the terms and conditions.
If you are going to complain, make it something relevant, preferably statutory, or legal.
Gnashing teeth over what the employees are paid is pathetic and does you more harm than good.
Or join leasing.com, their profits go to shareholders, not the members.
April 24, 2026 at 11:48 am #354023Not everyone is in position to go elsewhere …..

Well yes, if you cnt move away- then you stick with the scheme. Simple.
If so, make the most of its services.

The service is great, but the changes are not.
I think getting your every move tracked is pretty relevant to the majority of the schemes customers and they have every right to voice their opinions.
I’ll be making my mind up about the scheme once more news comes out about the changes here in Scotland.
Why are you leaving the scheme if you don’t mind me asking?
April 24, 2026 at 12:57 pm #354030@woodpecker ever think of toning it down a bit?
April 24, 2026 at 1:02 pm #354032I have no problem with scheme…but living in rural Scotland 10k a year is a killer my last hospital app was 100 miles round trip work is 35 a day more than my fault allownce would be ( government want disabled People to work ) ….

And this is why the the changes need to be looked at. The mileage, the winding roads etc which the app will flag you up on.
My car is a year and a half old, 3500 miles on the clock, the longest journey made was last weekend, Airdrie to Penrith and back. All my journey’s are local but for people like yourself the changes are a killer and seriously need looked at.
April 24, 2026 at 1:25 pm #354035Exactly …. to keep using car as i do …I don’t go abroad etc just normal use i do 20k …I would need to find at end of last over £7k that’s b4 AP on next car

That’s absolutely ridiculous mate and I feel for you.
Fingers crossed that something positive comes out of the Scottish government’s scheme, whenever that will be.

That’s a nice car. I’ve had no issues with the enyaq but the vw id3 was a nightmare. Waited 20 months for it and handed it back after a year.
We had frost a couple of times last week but it’s a nice 16c just now.
