here we are awake at 5am again lol. unable to sleep so trawling through the suv sized options and previous cars considered.

the renault symbioz esprit alpine has reduced in price to 393 wpms. thats the middle option but gives you electric seats and tailgate heated seats and steering wheel so all the nice to haves and a decent mpg. the drawback was the door entry shape i want to recheck and see if i can find a comfortable wa in/out.

the cupra formentor v2 has gone down to £343 and was a suprise comfortable sit test, v2 gives you all the nice to haves as well. its drawback is the 40mpg which given the plunge in my mileage isnt a deal breaker now as i cant see my mileage increasing unless you know jobs going for a 66 year old. i do like the styling i know its a bit marmite.

the quashqai 1.5 e-power n-connector £347 wpms, ap has remained pretty steady the last couple of quarters it lacks some of the nice to haves heated stuff for winter.but is a nice place to sit.

the mg zs and hs trophy are the bargain pricewise they have all the kit but there was just something about the cockpit that didnt click hopefully the test drives on the 24th will put that to bed.

citroen c3 aircross max the ap went up to £627 so is above what i am comfortable with but the cockpit and test drive comfort keep it on my list along with the budget option of the c3.

mini countryman electric monochrome remains on the list as the sit test was so good like putting on old slippers lol. just a question of can i get my head around the charging. and the 0ap is very tempting.

i am going to go to chesterfield at 10.30 as most of these dealers are on the same street.

ive booked mini and mg test drives so will do the same for the others and see if there are any deals  to be had.

sensible head says one of the hybrids but the mini and the cupra were nice places to sit and are tempting.

i may even risk waiting to see if the citroens come down next quarter, being very selfish i could order something this quarter and change next if prices come down although i am not too comfortable with that.

        Subtle

Are you trying to say I’m putting a strong recommendation in? Never! 😂

Mind you have drove the new ZS hybrid thingy, it isn’t half pokey with near 200bhp 400+ NM torque.

Anyhow, I’m looking at the best of both worlds and I did try to make it less subtle going back to the mini😜

          P (kW) = A x V / 1000

          10A granny charger 2.4kW + losses – over 20mtr would be 8A 2.16kW

          20kW over 10 hrs

At standard variable rate, charging at home would half your costs!

Why the council can’t run 2 rows of flags orver the dog shit area and up your lawn and allow use of kerb ramps is beyond me however if you can get away with it.

Once you have done all your test drives (as you can see I want you to try the mg’s😂) I will get the information for you to give the council, if the mini electric is your choice.

On another not didn’t someone say the Juke Tekna didn’t have heated steering wheek? worth checking spec’s incase it was the pre refresh model.

the small window to the right of the drain pipe slightly to the right hand side of the window below the window sill inside is the main fuse box etc.about where you can see the fork handle.

i will sort a photo out that shows the distance to kerb.

but i reckon putting the car right outside the bungalow once a week overnight might be the solution.

youu can see from this the distance we have to park from the bungalow.i would drive over the grass and park just in front of the wheely bins.

                                Yes lol, I agree!

I would still get a cable thats long enough to reach the road and potential for a cable cover for winter months and when its raining (muddy), which would amost certainly draw attention with 2 tyre tracks😂

A cable tide/holder on the wall would only cost around £10 and you could unwind how ever much is needed. Cheaper buying a long lead than buying a short lead only to realise you need a longer one.

The cable cover compllies with highways section 66 and supplied with necessary warning sign

Even with buying these, it would still save a good chunk over 3 yrs..

i agree, i have put in a request for an outside socket either self funded or for them to install.rykneld are quite good and i think they may insist on their own sparks doing stuff. i think it would be relatively simple as all they would have to do is drill through one wall and lay cables less than a foot from the fusebox/meter through the wall and then as much cable as needed to locate. they could actually literally put it where they drill through.

20 metres will give 1.5m leeway. £259.00 from a company in nottingham.

so if i can get the outdoor socket suitabley specced its doable current tarrif until nov 26 22p/kwh.

if i can get a split or overnight tarriff it could be cheaper.

current supplier eon does a midnight to  6am at 7.5p.

ok i have pricedd up 20m cables and they arent as expensive as i thoght they would be.

so i have sent 2 requests to the landlord to see if they will allow installation of an outside socket for granny charger and to see if they will allow a charger to be fitted. i realise i may have an issue with motability as they usually insist on offroad parking. either way a once a week overnight charge will work with my scheduled mileage.previously when i was persuing a driveway they did say they would allow the charger.

going to try and bring forward the mg test drives tommorrow so at least ive tested all possibles.

Its highly unlikely Ohme (Motability) will consider installng a charger, as they ereauire off road parking and confirm, as well as check and ask permission of the landlord.

Of caurse, there is the option of self funding a non tethered charger on the QT, but the costs will outweigh that of having a hybrid.

they are usually pretty quick responding so i will probably know early next week which is feasable.

Odd question, I know, but what are the neighbours like?  The reason I raise the point is that we’ve a good few who would cheerfully complain to housing associations, landlords, council or anyone else just because they’re bored.  It seems a dark secret about the Cornish community spirit that takes such pride in looking after each other, some would also cheerfully  drop neighbours deep in the proverbial if they were to try something they disagreed with, even if it made no difference to their lives.

Id love it if you found a solution which genuinely saves you money but I’d also hate it if after a few months some arsehat decided to ruin it for you, especially if that then impacted on every aspect of life.
