here we are awake at 5am again lol. unable to sleep so trawling through the suv sized options and previous cars considered.
the renault symbioz esprit alpine has reduced in price to 393 wpms. thats the middle option but gives you electric seats and tailgate heated seats and steering wheel so all the nice to haves and a decent mpg. the drawback was the door entry shape i want to recheck and see if i can find a comfortable wa in/out.
the cupra formentor v2 has gone down to £343 and was a suprise comfortable sit test, v2 gives you all the nice to haves as well. its drawback is the 40mpg which given the plunge in my mileage isnt a deal breaker now as i cant see my mileage increasing unless you know jobs going for a 66 year old. i do like the styling i know its a bit marmite.
the quashqai 1.5 e-power n-connector £347 wpms, ap has remained pretty steady the last couple of quarters it lacks some of the nice to haves heated stuff for winter.but is a nice place to sit.
the mg zs and hs trophy are the bargain pricewise they have all the kit but there was just something about the cockpit that didnt click hopefully the test drives on the 24th will put that to bed.
citroen c3 aircross max the ap went up to £627 so is above what i am comfortable with but the cockpit and test drive comfort keep it on my list along with the budget option of the c3.
mini countryman electric monochrome remains on the list as the sit test was so good like putting on old slippers lol. just a question of can i get my head around the charging. and the 0ap is very tempting.
i am going to go to chesterfield at 10.30 as most of these dealers are on the same street.
ive booked mini and mg test drives so will do the same for the others and see if there are any deals to be had.
sensible head says one of the hybrids but the mini and the cupra were nice places to sit and are tempting.
i may even risk waiting to see if the citroens come down next quarter, being very selfish i could order something this quarter and change next if prices come down although i am not too comfortable with that.

FWIW my first car on the scheme was ordered before the paperwork have even come through saying my daughter had being awarded DLA & previous hyundai before the official order date and as long as your not adding factory options, dealers are open to ordering prior to the order date if factory lead times are 4 months etc.
Kezo can the electric charger cable go on any wall where there is a main plug the other side inside the room ? It doesn’t have to be near the electric and gas meter ? Also is the cable full waterproof or does the charger need a cover over it ? Many thanks
This solution is if you havent got off street parking and can’t have a charger.
January 23, 2026 at 4:20 pm #334191Are either MG or Citroen even remotely as comfortable as the EV4?
I like MG and they’re building some lovely cars but if I could have a KIA over an MG that suited my needs and for similar money, I’d go so in a heartbeat. As for Stellantis, they’re last resort for me.

January 23, 2026 at 8:22 pm #334206@MFillingham “As for Stellantis, they’re last resort for me”
Not even considered here!, there are 3 Grandlands on my estate, I know two of the owners, from what I can gather they were over the moon when they got them, only a few months later and now not so much!! The 3rd one has, so I’ve been told, been rejected due to persistent problems and gone back to the dealers!
Two members of my shooting club have 24 plate petrol Mokkas, neither are happy with them, poor drive/fidgety on main roads, generally poor handling etc. and an E-Mokka that barely managing 100 miles on a full charge over the winter, dealer says it’s not faulty, they’re all like that!!!
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 23, 2026 at 8:45 pm #334207@Phaedra, I was being unnecessarily polite.
I remember when the Mokka-e was first on the Scheme. The Facebook groups were riddled with people complaining about the difference between claimed range and reality. The number returned to Motability as unsuitable was unbelievable.
I have also heard too many stories of dealerships being denied parts for known faults and cars being given back to customers unfixed or sat at dealerships for far too long. I don’t know whether the centralised repair approvals still exists within Peugeot and Vauxhall but I’d not be surprised.
It’s disappointing as I quite like the e3008 and e5008 but wouldn’t take the risk if they gave me one.

@des had terrible trouble with his e3008, along with range. The cyl petrol engine aren’t much better when you read the forums. My mum had both first gen “Vauxhall” Mokka and a 2nd gen “Stellantis Moka”, which the dealer coudn’t fix and Motabilty early terminated and on my advice then had the new shap Kona electric, which she is over the moon, jest a shame my dad never got to drive it, with it being an ev.February 2, 2026 at 11:44 am #337313ok some stats for the 2 electric contenders
ev4 mini monochrome

theres not much in it the kia is ahead as kia seem to have electric cars nailed whereas this is the first electric countryman. the kia has potentially 80 miles more range although with my low mileage and distances its not particularly an issue.
both have most of the nice to haves.
the elec seats are a plus.
whilst test drives etc showed the lower height of the ev4 wasnt painful or awkward the mini was easier to enter and exit.
its close.
i think i am going to get the doctors out of the way and then see if i can get an extended test drive in both and take them on a daytrip somewhere.
February 2, 2026 at 12:10 pm #337316I have test driven, both the EV4 and Countryman E sport. I had the Countryman for 24 hours, I found the seats really uncomfortable and the ride of the car to be very twitchy, both myself and the wife felt we were bouncing around. It could have been the 19” wheels and the firm setup!
The EV4 on the other hand was by far the smoothest and most comfortable ride, I have experienced in an EV.
February 2, 2026 at 12:25 pm #337318the e sport is definateley a harsher set up than the monochrome and it has a bit more power.i had the monochrome for a couple of hours but i think i am going to try and get a full day in each.
oh should have said the ev4 gt line has leatherette seats whereas the monochrome has fabric.
February 6, 2026 at 3:50 pm #337507ok been for another sit as the weathers crap and i ache like hell so hopefully some movement and note taking has taken the edge off and its a better afternoon had to turn the eating up lol.
ok i think i prefer the mini interior centre consul and stuff just seems a bit better all round the ev4 does have more storage it seems but its just plastic trays and boxes and i dont need places for crap. i havent a wife or daughter bringing all their stuff in and out . i lke the ev4 still has buttons for ac,mini you have to use the screen now likewise heated seats etc switch on door in the ev4 screen in mini. mini has elec boot but the ev is lower so relativeley easy to operate. ev 4 has elec seats and lumber mini is manual.still not 100% about no drivers screen just hud on the mini.
so ive asked for a 24hr test drive of the closest spec to monochrome they can give me and i am going to plan a day out around my usual routes and see where we are. hopefully nearer because i am going around in circles lol.
February 6, 2026 at 4:41 pm #337509There are two types of HUD – Augmented reality that displays info on the actual windscreen & Perspex screen that slides up and down and the information displays on the perspex with less clarity. Not sure which type the Mini has?
I suffer arthritus in my knees, hips and shoulders, I wouldn’t have a car now without having 360 camera’s, heated electric drivers seat, heated steering wheel and temperature knob. I jus find its makes like a damn sight more easier and comfortable as I have got older. I also suffer Raynauds.
Unfortunately, I have forgot what car has what without looking sorry, but at end of the day, only you can decide what suites your needs best.

The Mini uses a pop up HUD with a tinted Perspex screen.
An AR (Augmented Reality) HUD is a different HUD, compared to a standard HUD that just projects driver information direct on the windscreen or Perspex pop up screen.
An AR HUD projects directions onto the road, such as arrows that appear small, when the junction is far away. They seem to hang to the junction and get bigger as you get closer. Or, project arrows into the road in front of you, as if they’re lane markings, and follow the road prospective and direction.
I have ASD and thus have difficulty with social and understanding information, written and verbal. I process information in logical blocks, before I reply. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong.
I also have a corneal visual condition, which makes me visually impaired without daytime, or daytime bulbs, among other disabilities/conditions.February 6, 2026 at 7:49 pm #337521@kezo the both have the nice to haves in the sense of good cameras etc and they both have heated seats which i like the ev4 has heated steering wheel and the mini doesnt but i am not that fussed about that its my back that needs the heat lol. the ev 4 has fake leather but i do like what mini has done to their interior and i like the fabrics. the mini being bigger and having a higher boot etc does have electronic opening etc.
its very close literally if i sit in one for a while its that one if i then go and sit in the other one its that one lol.
so i am hoping a full day test drive will solve it.
either way if your on wpms they are bargains this quarter, i cant see them staying 0 ap.
no idea why the monochrome doesnt have a heated steering wheel when all the others have but no heated seats unless you get the pack, bizzarre.

February 7, 2026 at 12:06 pm #337535omg this is why i hate motability the ev4 gt-line has been removed from the scheme so one of my top two has gone why???????
February 7, 2026 at 12:14 pm #337536Probably gone because it’s a fantastic car for next to no money. I’m guessing orders were charging through and there’s a real risk of a backlog. Either that or it’s back soon at a much higher AP?
At least you like the Mini.

February 7, 2026 at 12:35 pm #337539yeh i jst dont like not being my decision.
query for you mark, just checking the electric version of the c3 aircross as its 0ap and has the nice to haves and almost a normal drivers display as the only thing i am still not sure about with the mini is everything is on the centre circle.
but looking at charging the citroen seems to charge faster according to the 20-80 times etc on the motability search although the mini has the greater range.
thanks i have an extended test drive with mini for wednesday so hopefully that will resolve screen issues.
February 7, 2026 at 12:51 pm #337542Sorry, I’m on my way to minors, catheter blocked again.

That should tell you all you need. I’ll reply in full later.

February 7, 2026 at 12:57 pm #337544Well that’s a kick in the knackers! Hopefully the EV3 stays on in GT Line.
Might revisit the Mini Countryman E but in Executive trim. Sport trim with 19” wheels made it a very harsh ride.

20 to 80% or 60% of the 54kWh battery will be quicker because its only got 32.4kWh to charge. In the Mini thats nearly 40kWh and 48kWh in Kia
DC fast charging in the Citreon is 100kWh and 130kWh in the Mini.
Though, I wouldn’t have anything Stellantis, especially an EV as there are so many reports they crap range in the real world.
Theres always the safe option of Hybrids, such as the £47 AP MG you can fall back on.
However, I think you need to take some time to reset and comeback with a fresh mind. Yesterday you were saying you liked the Mini as you felt it was bigger than the EV4, along with other stuff, to today going back to a city car withe the Citreon ec3
Kia are popular cars and well thought as one of the best when it comes to EV technology, they are also on the expensive side with AP, so seeng one at £0 was a bargin IMHO. Theres also the EV3 that might be worth another look.

February 7, 2026 at 4:16 pm #337548yes theres a lot i like about the mini, i am just not great with touchy feely screens ive only had a smart phone for like 9 months i had an old blackberry before that. and the mini has reduced physical buttons. the aircon and heated seats are via the touch screen. mind thinking about it the vast majority of the time i set it when i get in and dont touch it again so i am perhaps over thinking it.
the good rep for both brands kia and mini is what moved me towards them as you say citroen well since stellantis took over not so much and mg more perhaps the previous version didnt have great reveiws so put me off a bit.
i dont want to start again as i dont think theres owt soon to be released that would appeal in my price range.
i will look and see what i would lose by going for the basic ev4. and look forward to several hours with the mini on wednesday.

Just looked at a review (Carwow) as for the Mini in general and made a couple of clips of would could be real concerns for you, as these are often missed on test drives.
Clip – perhaps more importantly highlights the the small climate icons and potentially trying using them when driving. The clip also mentions the roughness of the recycled fabrics and possible to chaff yourself on the door.

The other things to check is there is a boot lip which may make it difficult for you to get stuff out, as you need to lift it over the lip.

@MFillingham are you unblocked or still stuck in minor injuries?February 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm #337551February 7, 2026 at 7:06 pm #337552the reveiw was the cooper 3dr regarding the footwell the countryman is a bit higher and the rest plate for your left foot is ok for me but i can see where it could impact someone with longer legs. also the countryman has an adjustable boot floor in the monochrome. some of the others dont i think.
i am a fan of the intriour material but i can see what he means if your a bit sensitive to stff like that.
February 7, 2026 at 7:54 pm #337553Watch the last video on the countryman, even with the boot floor in its highest position there is still a lip thats worth checking on test drives, the fiddly screens remain the same, that why I like knobs😂
February 8, 2026 at 12:22 am #337557ok ev4 air, you lose faux leather trim electric seat adj lumber , phone charging, shiny black plastic trim around wheel arches etc. i am going to see if i can see one in the flesh as you still get heated stuff and knobs for some stuff.
