Quarter 2 breakdown:

18 vehicles removed

1 Manufacturer removed (Polestar)

2 New Vehicles added (Both MG)

4 Returning Vehicles

 

Number of Electric cars drops for the first time, from 165 to 155. Mostly due to increase in prices taking them off the Scheme.

Plugin hybrid hit even harder, dropping from 9% of offerings to only 4%,  30 remain. Mostly due to increase in price taking them off the Scheme.

 

I have never seen a Quarter of such destruction. Aside from a couple of Kia’s, Mini Countryman, Jaecoo 7 and a single Jeep, most everything else has gone up in price.

Hopefully this is the low point from which the Scheme will rise.

@Footloose – so eloquently set out. This is what the media and MP’s should see the real reason the vast majority of us use the scheme and exactly what it does for us.

My car is due for change in July so thankfully I can order before all the changes and I’m even more thankful that there’s 2 or 3 cars under £500 which I hope will be suitable but unless things change this will probably be my last car on the scheme but with a credit rating currently on life support I fear I will be left without my own transport in another 3 years time

The leniency they showed with the rules  cancelling and reordering and people swapping and changing at whim has comeback to bite hard IMO

There would be less people cancelling and reordering or changing, if Motability were more stable with their pricing and brought back their previous rule of,

If you order and your AP goes up, you pay the AP at time of ordering (as it is now), but if the AP goes down, you pay the lower AP, that it is at time of collection. It worked before.

The rubbish about it all being based on residual values and insurance, could not account for car AP’s jumping up or going down by thousands of pounds each quarter. It is all about shifting certain cars at a given time.

My Grandad would be ashamed if he was still alive. He didn’t fight in Burma, see some horrific, unimaginable sights, and end up catching Malaria, which would flare up each year, to see people be treated like this by a supposed socialist government
