Went to a local Hyundai garage today and even they told me they genuinely had no clue of the upcoming prices as of yet
April 1, 2025 at 6:59 am #300385Seems most prices have gone up… Volvo XC4o by £1000, the Hyundai Kona I had my eye on has increased by £100. The jump in the Toyota Yaris Cross is eye watering.
April 1, 2025 at 7:12 am #300387well the minis arent bback yet the yaris cross and xc40 are out now but good news the tekna+ is in for the juke.
April 1, 2025 at 7:21 am #300388The Honda Jazz has been removed, I agree, Yaris Cross it way too expensive. I ordered an Škoda Elroq Edition 85 and that has remained the same but now they’ve added ones with packs.
April 1, 2025 at 7:28 am #300389the hybrid lexus lbx is £1839 wpms for premim with choice of leather colours it would bankrupt me but it looks nice decent mpg too. that i could go for similar money for the yaris cross i dont think so lol.
April 1, 2025 at 7:36 am #300390ioniq 6 ultimate for £1143 on wpms is enough to tempt me to electric and eat the extra running costs lol.
April 1, 2025 at 7:45 am #300391Well congratulations to Motability and BMW for sticking two fingers up to all the newspapers, media outlets and YouTubers and leaving the i4, iX1, iX2 and X1 PHEV on the scheme. Whilst none of them are of interest to me, as a point of principle I’m glad that they didn’t cave to all the pressure.
As always, the devil is in the detail though. All remain the entry level power outputs, albeit in the more desirable M-Sport trim, BUT all of the highly desirable option packs (Tech + pack etc), which were previously bundled with many of them, are now removed. AP’s haven’t dropped to reflect that so, in reality, this means that APs have risen and, in some cases, quite substantially.
April 1, 2025 at 7:57 am #300393Shame that the only Santa Fe model on the scheme remains the entry Premium model, as this lacks a considerable number of features that we have now got used to on our Tucson Ultimate. I’d also be concerned about the mpg when the battery is depleted. It’s poor on our Tucson PHEV and the Santa Fe is a heavier car with the same engine and battery setup.
April 1, 2025 at 8:03 am #300394Nooo, I misread the Hyundai Kona price, The N Line petrol has gone from £1799 to over £3000.
I also noticed the Honda Jazz had left the scheme.
Seems the MG ZS has gone to, shame was due to test drive one on Friday, it was a backup choice.

April 1, 2025 at 8:48 am #300396Plug in Hybrids (PHEV) basic Kia Sportage £1999, otherwise you are looking at £2795 plus
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
April 1, 2025 at 8:54 am #300398MG ZS will be back, new model just released, although the electric version will no longer be called the ZS, it now MGS5 EV….bigger too. Its getting good reviews.
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

They need to do more of this stuff.
April 1, 2025 at 9:15 am #300401Seems the MG ZS has gone to, shame was due to test drive one on Friday, it was a backup choice.
MG ZS Hybrid+ is available from £499
As @Abercol suggests the electric version is being replaced with the MGS5 and yet to join the scheme
April 1, 2025 at 9:21 am #300403The top of the range Sportage (GTLS PHEV) is pretty good value at £2,799. Especially considering the MHEV, with it’s particulate filter issues is £3,999.

Interesting that they state;
“On average it’s still cheaper to lease through the Scheme than leasing a car elsewhere.
It’s also cheaper overall than buying a used car and getting insurance, breakdown and tyres separately.”
Whilst the first of those comments is certainly true, the second one isn’t!
April 1, 2025 at 9:31 am #300406Rav 4 back on scheme, but £6,995 for design trim isn’t worth it.
April 1, 2025 at 9:38 am #300408If you are a low mileage user, you are better off buying a high mileage 100,000 diesel Honda/Toyota or similar, it work for us. When we decided to change to 12/18 month old low mileage vehicle but still being low mileage users the depreciation was a big hit so we changed back to Motability.

You are right, my mistake…
My only concern over this model is the 3 speed automatic gearbox? Anyone got experience of this?
April 1, 2025 at 10:22 am #300413My only concern over this model is the 3 speed automatic gearbox? Anyone got experience of this?
The Hybrid+ works in a similar way the Nissans E-Power system, where the engine in the majority of cases acts solely as a generator topping the hybrid battery up. The 3 speed transmission therefore runs through the the electric motors the, which is fine and mostly smooth. It’s only when you demand extra grunt the engine is used to help drive the wheels, you’ll find it holds onto the gears slightly longer than say a car with more gears.
In most cases its an EV like drive, with decent economy but, as always I strongly recommend you have a decent test dive.

Diesels aren’t great for low mileage users though, as you can get problems with the diesel particulate filters. As you say, 12-18 month old cars are still going to incur a lot of depreciation, so won’t necessarily be a good buy either.
I think that the ‘sweet spot’ for those of us who would consider going down the private route is buying a 3 or 4 year old car. They have taken the vast majority of the depreciation hit by that stage (most will be half the new price or less) yet are still pretty much like new and will have a good 10-15 years left in them (not that I’d keep them anywhere near that long). This approach also opens up options to get cars that are a few classes up from what we are ‘allowed’ on the scheme, yet whole life costs will most likely be less than running a more modest new car through Motability.
April 1, 2025 at 10:57 am #300417Shame that the only Santa Fe model on the scheme remains the entry Premium model.
It’s also a shame that they have chucked another £grand on the AP.
I saw one of these the other day (in the brown colour) and it was mightily impressive, the dumbell lights, sheer size and high ride height – it looked like something from a Holywood disaster movie, I half expected ‘The Rock’ to get out and tell me everything is going to be okay.
April 1, 2025 at 11:32 am #300420Oh wow did someone mention a grand increase for Volvo, hhhmmm what a shame I’ve not put an order in, however can’t really say I’m gutted either though, car goes back Nov 25 after an extension oh well…
Life goes on 🤣

It would be more economical to, especially most of your jiurneys are under 40 miles and you can charge at home with a cheap offpeak tariff.

We plug in at home our average over 19 months just under 5 pence per mile.
