I’m buying a used car. I’ve seen it on here a few times, but can someone remind me of the procedure to get proof of claims history, I’m not the person leasing the Motability car but I have been on the insurance for years. Do we know how long it takes?
From recently helping someone obtain same:
Log in to the account holders account on the Motability website.
Go to ‘Insurance’ left of screen
Go to ‘Direct Line Motability account’
Go to ‘Cover Documents’
Click on this box:
Not sure about the February 2026 bit above, but it had all the details they needed.
It takes a good few weeks for them to send it. Just be aware that you can only request this once per policy year, so don’t request it until you are within a month of needing it or it may no longer be accepted by an insurer.
FYI my new insurer didn’t even ask to see it!

The one I did for a veteran recently came back with his 8 or 9 years Motability claim history (I can’t remember the time frame exactly, but it definitely included the time when RSAM were Motability’s insurers ).
