I’m shall be having a small op to insert iStent in my right eye for secondary glaucoma and cataract and although, I don’t have cataracts its part of the op?, which is putting me off tbh.

Therefor I’ll  soon be needing prescription glasses for driving and wondered what you all use, Transitions or other and lens type or do you have seperate sunglasses?

I have transitions, they are very good, mine are a special type for driving where they don’t go fully dark in the car so you can see the speedo and infotainment system etc. I got them in a very nice designer frame from Asda opticians. I paid extra for the thinner lenses. With the designer frame, transition and flat lenses they were only £180.

I don’t know if they are branded driver but they asked if I wanted to drive with them and I said yes. I think it means they don’t go as dark, if I’m in the car on a dull day they don’t change, the lenses stay mostly clear.

Thin and light Zisse lenses with blue anti reflective coating which are really good for night driving. Boots optician’s.

i had to have glasses from the age of 5 the laft in particular was bad. then in 2002 all of a sudden i developed catarachts and was vertually blind in a month. at the time there was a year waiting list so i paid £2500 to get one eye done and then waited the yyear for the other one. both done by the same surgeon in the same hospital in the same dept. anyway now i only need readers and i get a pair of prescription distance sun glasses for the car etc. i can drive without the distance prescription as its not that strong.

it was weird as hell after wearing glasses all the time for nigh on 40 years to not needing them.

Transistions will not work behind glass, ie in the car. You will need a dedicated pair of  prescription sunnies for the car, and elsewhere. Best of luck with it all pal.
