It’s something I’ve seen stated on here as one of those manufacturers that’ll never been seen.  I’m not sure if there’s someone in Motability with that sense of accomplishment.

Theres 2 spec levels on the scheme, one with the Prime pack, this is 3 packs in one and adds a lot of items not available on the single model on the scheme from other manufacturers.  Yes £6,999 isn’t cheap but for an EV of that quality with pano roof, heated rear seats, heated and ventilated front seats plus so much more, it’s almost worth it.  The Pro pack then includes cosmetic upgrades, I’m not sure how many will be sold with that option at a further £1,000 on the scheme.

Unfortunately, it’s just too much for me to justify on a lease car I’m only going to get to drive for 3 years.  That value is 2 APs for cars that are suitable for me.  However, there are people who can justify that sort of payment and will be very happy with the car they get.

Polestar is building its own charging network, it’s a way behind Tesla but there’s not many manufacturers doing that.

Geely is coming to the UK this year with its first model, the EX5, well when I say it’s forst model they are owners of many recogniseable modes , such as Polestar.

The vehicle is made in China and the one motor they offer for £8,000… oh well… so many other better options.

I’m not sure why the constant derogatory comments around Chinese cars.  They did the sensible thing by insisting that all foreign manufacturers had to have a local company involved in the building of cars for the local market.  This gave them sight of how long standing manufacturers build in quality measures and ensure quality control is more of a formality.

If they see how the top end cars are built, plus the lower end to save costs and the end result is the saving of years of development and learning.

The resulting quality (to budget) isn’t as bad as all make out.  Although I can see the political argument.

I think there has been a lot in the news of Chinese cars effectively being bugged or EV batteries that could be ignited

Im Not one of those who thinks it is true – but for many I suspect there is a mind set of – why risk it when there are viable alternatives.

Yes £6,999 isn’t cheap but for an EV of that quality with pano roof, heated rear seats, heated and ventilated front seats plus so much more, it’s almost worth it.

                  Sorry, not even close.

I hate that people try to normalise these prices. It’s not a shed, but there’s more to “quality” than raiding Volvos parts bin. That would include not forgetting to make it drive decently, which a Polestar 2 doesn’t. Awful noise insulation, and a horrid suspension setup make it basically unliveable with in rural areas (and barely acceptable driving on glass surfaces).

It’s not a 1997 Fiat Cinquecento, sure, but that’s a pretty low bar. Especially considering that an Ioniq 6 Ultimate is £1700 – which is quieter, drives better and has the same level of equipment. That’s a car worth 51k for 1.7k as opposed to a 43k car for 7k.

Now, yes, the 6 is.. an acquired taste to look at (and i haven’t acquired it), the Polestar 2 is a better looking car, but there’s no argument to be had whether or not it’s worth it. It’s not, not even remotely.

For £2500-£3000, we could have an argument – for more than double that, they can keep it.

You get alot of comments like this, but just because a vehicle is made in europe doent mean it doesnt use Chinese battery/cell/pack or module or are european built cars exempt from watching or listening either.

Remember Skoda saying CATL wuill be used in Elroq Enyak? Well CATL is the No1 battery maker in the world and are Chinese – not a problem.

Yep agree kezo – although I believe my Elroq will be one of the last with the older battery 175 speed and all the different charge curve that comes with it. – would be amazed if there aren’t other Chinese based tech in there tho – it is what it is.

I have nothing against Chinese vehicles beyond the known issues which will be addressed in due course.  However I have a lot against trying to normalise these prices (outside of Motability scope) for a vehicle made in China with a cost of maybe £20,000 to the manufacturer,  if not less.

Yes, yours will have LG’s NMC chemistry, as does your Kona.

It’s great to see Polestar have joined the scheme! But at £6.999-£7.999 AP’s is out of my league at the moment. If you’re considering an EV on the scheme? a serious contender Imo is the Ioniq 6 Ultimate model with all the bells and whistles at only £1.749 AP this quarter!
