Hi guy’s I need some help please. I’ve searched the forum but my head is all over the place atm and my mental health is hindering. My pip award has been reduced on a telephone review after 10years, I appealed but still to no avail even though I’m in a worse condition than 10years ago and have many new qualifying conditions.I will appeal again but timeline looks like I’ll have to hand back the car a year early. I have spoken to Motability today about buying the car which I was told had to be from the dealer. like most I researched for a long time and found a car perfect for my needs and did in hindsight foolishly paid a big ap due to it being an ev. Has anybody successfully bought their car from the dealer and could offer some tips or advice please. Sorry if this as been asked before but this has really upset and stressed me. Thank you.

Thanks, I will be seeking help but I won’t be rejoining Motability after this. I wanted some help on actually buying the car outright from the dealer myself due to the ap and the perfect car for my needs at present.

I’m sorry to read this, it’s definitely worth chasing up and seeking help from as many sources as possible.

The only way I’ve heard be successful is to search for that make of car on all the big car sites, like autotrader, and wait for the exact car to appear.  It could be anywhere though.

Thanks, yes it doesn’t look easy does it. Motability suggested asking the dealer to buy the car from them then sell it on to me. Unfortunately Motability is just too expensive now and I would have struggled to replace this current one even if I didn’t have this hassle. I will seek help as it’s pathetic to judge on a telephone call. I am taking it to a court appeal it’s just the timeline won’t be enough.

Sorry to hear your bad news, I have due to extenuating circumstance been allowed to extend my lease for a further 12 month, before the end  of my lease I am going to consult my dealer with the view to buy, no doubt Mobility will want silly money.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Who would you purchase the car from?
I thought it went back to Motability as they ‘ technically ‘ own the title of the car.

Sorry to hear about your problems. When Motability used to allow us to buy cars at lease end the prices that they asked were stupidly high, especially for a car sold with no warranty. The main reason was that they were trying to deter people from leaving the scheme.

I would assume that the prices that they quote dealers are much lower, but the dealer will still need to cover their margin and warranty cost, so they will obviously want more from you than they pay for the car

I notice that you have a BMW i4 which, being a Motability car will be the entry 35 model. As second hand EV values are so low, and given that the vast majority of i4 buyers go for the more powerful variants, you may well find that you can do better by just buying another used one. There are currently 418 second hand I4s on Autotrader and only 80 of them are the 35 model, the other 338 being the more powerful variants. Worth a look as I’m sure there are a number in your exact spec!

Cannot give you any advice about buying the car but can definitely relate to having my PiP reduced by a telephone call.

You need someone like CAB, or in my case Age Cymru who fought the appeal on my behalf and were ultimately successful, to fight your appeal for you. Like you, stress exacerbates my illnesses and this is something you and I could certainly do without.

I am not sure of the rules and MB about keeping your MB car whilst you do appeal but hopefully someone will be able to help you further.

My understanding the Mobility dealer is given the option, then it goes to auction, if our Suzuki Across if offered to us a a fair price we would probably buy it, by the time it comes up for sale the retail market price will around £20,000.

However, the Suzuki Across is now an outgoing model, Mobility previously heavly discounted the outgoing Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the Ford Kuga, lets see what happens, none of us now what Mr Trump is going to do next, he starting make Putin look sane.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
