Person hoist

I got a person hoist fitted to my new Motability Skoda Superb May. 25. I am now on my third remote, as it is like from a £5 kids toy. The hoist cost me £600, it would have cost £2,000 if not bought at the time of the the new lease.

It only came with one remote

Now the supplier claims that the manufacturer claims that I cannot get a free spare as the hoist can only be paired with a single remote, which I think is rubbish. Has anyone got any technical knowledge on the subject please.

I’m guessing that you must have a different person hoist to ours as the one we have (Smart transfer from Autochair) doesn’t have a remote. The control on ours is hard wired on a coiled cable (like an old fashioned telephone cable). You can also raise and lower it from buttons on the hoist itself.

,@Glos Guy Thanks, it is the same principal, but mine seems to be a newer version and is slightly neeter with a cordless remote, although you can still use the On Off and Up and Down switch on the actual hoist.

You can typically duplicate remotes as two masters.

@kezo Thanks, that is what I assumed,  but sadly not what they are trying to tell me.

Do you know if there are places that I could buy a better quality remote, that they could duplicate the code/signal, other than a 16 year old ned that nick’s cars.

Do you know what frequency it uses 433mhz? Its not difficult to clone if you know.

@kezo Not a clue, but the engineer is coming out on Thursday afternoon, so. I will ask him if he knows the frequency. Thanks for your help.

Guessing 433mhz and about £6 for a 4 button cloning remote.

Let me know when he’s been and if i need to investigate frequency.

@kezo The hoist installing company (PL Mobility) got back to me and said if I wanted them to supply a second remote, it would cost £173.34 for them to come out to the house and pair it to the person hoist or £83.34 if I went to them in Bonnybridge 27 miles away.

I pointed out that I was not wanting a back-up remote because I was so delighted with the first one, it was because we were now on to a third remote, as the first two failed and were not fit for purpose.

So I have downloaded (or my PA has) pictures of the remote and it looks to be, as you predicted, 433 MHz.

So the engineer is coming out with a new replacement remote (not a back-up one) this afternoon. I still think it is ridiculous  that a £2,000 person hoist (£600 Motability price to me, if bought at start of the lease) only comes with one cheap remote.

                                Thats a rip off!

Just off collect daughter, I’ll look later what clone remotes fit the bill that are perhaps alot sturdier for a damn lot less!

The engineer replaced the remote with a Mylo 38D three key remote, which works.

I notice Amazon are selling it at £12.35 and I have details of how to pair it. Do you think it is worth sending for the same remote and following the same instructions on how to pair it.

If I I am unsuccessful, I can always return , to pick your brains.

Worse case scenario, I can always keep getting the fitting co to keep replacing the crap remote’s under warranty.

                                  Thanks for your help.

You could always get an identical remote and find another dude to code it to your lift. I done that getting my car remote synched, met the dude in town where he is based and was available,  he coded the remote for £20.

Easy 2 minute job and cash for him.

These guys that fitted the lift, its a callout fee for  2 of them and mileage. Uts still very expensive what they are charging.

Where did they get the previous one Temu??

It was only one guy and it took him ten minutes. As soon as you put the word disabled into a discription, you can multiply the cost of the product or service.

Can I as hell find it 😂 I wanted to know the frequency full 433mhz frequency range i.e 443.92mhz base, not as £12 is going to break the bank, but there some 4 channel remotes for £6, that would do the job being metal like material.

Sorry it is listed as eMylo or Yasorn. But just states the MHz as 433 I assume it is followed by .92, as the last one was and unfortunately I can’t see the actual remote, as it is in the car (as my PA is using it for rally cross in the continent), but will check it tomorrow afternoon
