Is the only difference that one is tethered and one is not?

I’d be interested in knowing what you went for out of the two and why?

ive seen lots of the pro models have issues with water ingress behind the front panel screen. You dont need the screen in my optioning. The pod is simpler and I believe more reliable.

Catch 22 imo, as one suffers condensation, the other doesn’t lock, so go with what you prefer.  Both come with a 3 year warranty..

Got the pro this end had it a few years now much easier to use takes seconds to plug in and unplug.  No more fighting with the supplied cables with this.

This was my thinking before I had mine installed. I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user, so I’d not be able to navigate the pod, but even if I was able to the pro just seems so much easier to me.

Actually had my first issue when the charger went offline a few months back, and I didn’t notice it had been offline for 3-4 days lol…

Once I got in touch, they had someone out and it was fixed in a couple weeks.

Water had gotten in through the top of the little black box and he said that there hadn’t been a hole drilled in it so it had filled up.

Things happen, so I wasn’t too bothered and was quite impressed with the time from notifying plug-in stations to them having it all fixed up.

Ohme home pro with tethered long cable. Easily reaches all 4 corners of whatever car I have. You only have to plug it in once, and not both ends as the wee one

The thin sheet on the front began to oeel away but quickly sealed that back on with some CT1 and its been fine ever since.

True I dont use the screen, but may do in the future.

Cheers guys, some very useful comments. Once I’ve gone through the ‘basic’ installation process, the unit will be moved just inside the garage, so hopefully that may negate any condensation issues. Initially, until the Ohme is moved, I will require an 8 metre cable, so its looks like I will go for the Home Pro.

                      Hi all,

so what happens if you pick the one with cable attached and you change vehicle but it’s got a different connector on at the end of the lease will motobilty change the charge point for free? My understanding is they only fit the first one for free.

There are only 2 charge plug types in the UK, CCS and Chademo.

You’d be crazy to pick any car with a Chademo connector as they are being phased out, so any charging away from home will become increasingly difficult (only around 15% of rapid chargers are Chademo capable and dropping as they get replaced).

I don’t think there are any new cars on the scheme with Chademo, Nissan was the last one making them and they’ve switched completely to CCS with the new Micra and Leaf models.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

I think it may have been deleted due to the word in the title.

If so, I can’t repeat the word, but can say the word stems from the Medieval Latin Bulgarus.  So, it’s been around a long time. I used it as a verb, but it can equally be used as a noun.

Unlucky Alf from the Fast Show used the word a lot….before the watershed.

I’ve not deleted it! I’ll go through and check stuff but I honestly don’t know what has happened.

Update. I’ve found it and reinstated it. I don’t know what’s going on. (Not just here – but the wider world)

i went for the epod.  untethered looks neater to me.  yes you have to get your cable out each time but i think its worth it.  plus if you go tethered you might be best to future proof by paying for the longer cable.   example from me.  when i had my ID.3 the charge port was at the rear of the drivers side.  so a simple reverse onto my drive and the supplied cable was sufficient in length .  i believe it was a 3m cable.    in March this year i took delivery of the KIA EV 4 ,   the charge port on this is at the front and at the drivers side.   the 3m cable supplied is not long enough  and i had to purchase a 7m cable to get the job done.   i know you can change the length on a tethered but you cannot do it yourself.

I have the Pro and I messed up by not ordering a long enough cable so I had help from the more knowledgeable amongst us and got an extension lead and now it works perfectly for both our cars.

I have the Ohme Home Pro mounted on wall just inside garage. I charge on the driveway, leave the electric roller shutter door up an inch or so and trail the cable underneath. That way the charger, coiled cable, and plug stays dry and is not exposed to UV rays. Plus you can see the LCD screen easier than if it was outside. Works for me 🙂
