Rob
I had a text today to tell me that my charge point for the Enaq (which may never arrive- see the topic on that one !) is being fitted Monday.
I was inquisitive and opened the box that has been delivered. I laid it on the driveway and looked at the length of the new car on google and measured it. The wire will wither be under tension or be too short unless I reverse the car onto the driveway which I don’t want to do as the charging port flap being massive will surely be clipped by people walking past it.
Has anyone had their charger fitted and at the same time, the fitter extending the charger cable? My charger will be in my garage and the lead ported outside so I can’t move the charger, have to extend the lead.
Ohme had nobody I could speak with today and now I am anxious someone will visit Monday and be pretty miffed when I tell them this isn’t going to work or worse, they fit it and I have to park the vehicle the wrong way to charge it. That doesn’t feel like an ease into EV ownership!

Got ya. The eSim thing with Ohme is deffo just a way to suck a few quid out of you for the life of the product and from the few days iv been on this forum it seams like MB’s style not to have customer/user needs at the forefront of their decisions making.
I have a EO mini at the moment and had a bit of trouble getting Intelligent Octopus set up with my Niro and im hoping that it will be a more seamless experience setting it up with the Ohme instead.
Have never looked that hard into solar mainly put off by the upfront cost and time to break even and never really considered that it’s probably more complicated than plug everything in. Thanks for the explanation.

If your Niro doesn’t have Kia Connect, which I don’t believe all trims eapecially entry level have, so it wouldn’t work with oi.
If your Niro is compatible you need to upgrade to the latest firmware and turn of scheduling controls from the charger and et the car up to schedule.

It does have Kia connect and managed to get it set up and working (mostly) in the end but it there were some issues when I first tried to set it up. Also sometimes it doesn’t want to connect for what ever reason and a few times it hasn’t charged over night etc.
Prob not all down to connect through the car but octopus recon its better through the charger. At least ill have both options soon.
November 19, 2023 at 12:49 am #247559@GAMO have you ordered the i4 ?
I take it your going to let Ohme replace your EO charger, when it gets ffitted?

You should have had the option of 5m or 8m cable when completing the pre fitting online info.
I was in the same boat as the position I picked looks like the 5m is going to be a stretch so I asked OHME what it would take to change and they said £200.

Hi
I can confirm Ohme Pro charger, comes with ether a 5m or 8m cable. The 5m ones are carried by the installer/van. The 8m ones are posted out to arrive a day or two before your installation date.
Both are provided by Motability, I would go with the 8m variant as the cost is the same. Zero.
One point to note is the cable bracket seems unable to take the added weight of the 8m cable over the 5m cable. It then collapses making it difficult to push the plug release button.
Work round, got Ohmi to send another cable holder and mounted that upside down. Both cable holders then re-enforced with small metal brackets. Will post photo setup tomorrow.
The Ohme Pro works faultlessly if correctly installed with octopus Intelligent. I say correctly as the first installer used 30 amp connectors. They burnt out and part melted. Made the trip er trip. Took Ohme around a month to fix. Now fitted with 40 amp connectors.
Our ID3 Max 3.2 can control octopus Intelligent.

Didn’t see the option for this but I will be sure to ask them when booking the instal. £200 seems a bit much for an extra 3m of cable tho.

Glad to hear yours is working and thanks for the tip on the cable.

I think Ohme pick prices out of a hat n the day!
As a Motability user you have the opyion of 5 or 8m.
November 19, 2023 at 10:31 am #247600So the 5 metre or 8 metre is free ?

Yes Mike 👍
November 19, 2023 at 11:46 am #247618Not sure if someone has suggested already. But if you log in to your Ohme link, where you filled in the site survey, you can change to the Ohme E-Pod and order the 8m cable. It wont matter to the installer, they will probably have stock in their vans.
There’s no option to order the Ohme Pro with 8m anymore then?
November 19, 2023 at 11:49 am #247622you can get both in 5 or 8m
I no longer participate in forum discussions following moderator decision.

Doesn’t appear to be on the survey. Just a choice between tethered or untethered

Yup, You and Rob are correct, you can specify the 8m cable for the Ohme pro, I just didnt scroll down far enough..lol.
I planned on pulling out an extension cable today to check on the length required to reach the car, when I saw Robs post about cable length.

When talking to Motability they suggested that the would be a cost I would have to pay if I opted for the 8m cable over the 5m cable.
When talking to Ohme they said no extra for me to pay if I went with the 8m as Motability picks up the entire bill.

On another note, have been testing with either the octopus or the Ohme Pro in charge of the dynamic charging.
I normally plugin around 8pm and from my own experience. The Ohme will start early and often be finished by midnight.
When Octopus Intelligent is in control the charge will be split into sections during the night, often ending by 5.30am

Octopus will split the charge when demand is low throughout the day and night. It looks as if Ohme charger is scheduling charging from when its plugged in at 8pm. The bigger uestion is, if Ohme is charging at peak electricity rate and not at a lower rate!

At the low rate. It does say in the Ohme app. “Dynamic charge”.
