Ok all done.
The issue I am seeing if I were to Max charge the vehicle now, it would take it from both the home battery and the grid leaving me with a depleted battery.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Are you wanting to do this for test for test purposes or as a permanent option, which at todays electricity prices I don’t think is a good idea?
August 18, 2026 at 4:54 pm #377519I done it the other day for a couple of minutes when it was sunny to see if it pulled the battery, it pulled from the battery .
I have given up totally with any ambition s of Octopus Intelligence Go. At best I will only be £40 a year better off.
Those settings will minimise the strain on my battery overnight.

August 18, 2026 at 5:14 pm #377521I think you said TOU isn’t an option, so if ever you want to max charge, the simplist option is manual mode.
go into setting – work mode drop down – click on normal mode of self use and click manual mode from the options presented – click ok and then save – you then see another option called manual mode, with a further 3 options – select stop charge a discharge, which will stop all battery activity.
This will allow you to max charge now for example without draining the battery. The house/car runs of solar and grid.
Hang on 5 I’ll see if there a vid showing you in detail.

August 18, 2026 at 5:43 pm #377524My intention was to use Octopus Inteligent Go, this what I asked the installer for, unfortunately it has not happened, it is quite possible my Solax battery inverter is a bit dim, I can add Sola Mod at about £300 and Home Assistant at £150, an alternative is Home Assistant and change my WiFi dongle for a later model about £30. At the end of day I have given up however, I have added your charge discharge settings it is kinder on the battery.

How did it go charging?
My take: Inverters are are clever in what they do and simplify communication between solar, storage battery, export, grid charging and intergrate with EV chargers in varios ways. However, here’s the catch, they are designed for 97% of energy suppliers. By that I mean, an inverter will happily intergrate with 2 rate tariffs (economy 7/RTS) and more modern 3 rate tariff (economy 10) fixed set period tariffs throughout the day, that offer a reduced rate. The majority of energy suppliers also offer 2 rate tariffs for EV charging, which include tariffs like Ocotopus go. Only 3% of energy suppliers offer smart or intelligent tariffs, that makes it difficult for an inverter to play nice without 3rd party options such as HA, but are you going down the rabbit hole?
My Octopus GO tariff is coming to an end and likely to go with EON’s non smart EV tariff. The standing charge is 2p dearer than Octopus, but more importantly the unit rates are cheaper than Octopus and you get from 11pm to 6am at 6.99p kWh, more than enough to charge the battery and car, without going down the rabbit hole.
August 19, 2026 at 5:24 pm #377564No different it performed exactly the same as the Podpoint and the new OMHE.
My tarif is fixed until March 27 I have no get out fee.

August 19, 2026 at 5:28 pm #377565I may change my tariff Octopus now only pay 12p for export down from 15p that’s a 20% drop.
Is Eon a reliable company I have bad things

Ok leave it with me, but to confirm you have the Solax G4 inverter & what solax battery?
Can you put a picture of your meter cupboard please
What you could try if wanted, given demand isn’t overly high at night is remove the grid CT (ohme) clostest to meter and do a test charge overnight. the CT clamp has a clip that you pull so the clamp looks like a butterfly when remove. Make sure the arrow is pointing away from meter or mark one yourself with a bit of tape.
August 19, 2026 at 5:58 pm #377567August 19, 2026 at 6:23 pm #3775682 CT clamps, the original SolaX battery CT and now an additional CT for the Ohme Pro.

August 20, 2026 at 12:28 pm #377601Is the battery being charged overnight from the grid?
Whats battery voltage is showing in the app now or first thing in the morning when car not charged overnight?

August 20, 2026 at 3:14 pm #377610Apologies for my drawing and that the red live tails haven’t come out as well as I’d hoped but hopefully you can still make them out!
Is this how your metre box is wired with an additional smaller live tails onlyHenley block shown bottom right of the image? The purose of this Henley block, is so the EV charger shoots seperately from here. What this does is allow the Solax CT monitor the grid after the EV charger has gone by drawing power from this smaller Henley Block.
What this does is allow the Solax CT to monitor after the EV charger, so the EV Charger doesn’t see the Solax battery at all, meaning regardless of the energy tariff, it won’t discharge the battery regardless whether you are on GO or Intelligent GO.
Sorry if you think we are going back to basics, but I need to be clear in my gormless head prior to moving on 🙂
Anyhow this is how I wire a EV charger, if the customer has solar/battery…
August 20, 2026 at 4:28 pm #377615I originally had only 3 Henley blocks now I have 4.
My installation is nothing like you drawing
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
August 20, 2026 at 4:30 pm #377616I have sent a photo of the installation to OHME, they are now investigating the installation. The OHME CT is wired downstream of the Henley block off the meter, the Solax CT is wired of the master switch to the house load, but upstream of the henley block, I have been informed it should be behind (downstream) of the henley block ?

August 20, 2026 at 4:33 pm #377617That should have read 2 Henley blocks now have 4
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
August 20, 2026 at 5:08 pm #377618There are different types are Henley blocks that accomondate live and neutral (black) (as seen in my top right image) and single Henley blocks that accomondate live only (brown) or neutral only (blue) and of course earth (green), the principle is the same.
How many consumer units do you have 3?
If you put up a pic I’ll look at it.
In the meantime does yours look something like this crappy drawing escusing the red live tails?
August 20, 2026 at 5:16 pm #377619The major consumer unit internal and an additional unit it the meter cupboard

August 20, 2026 at 5:17 pm #377620Secondly, which way is the arrow on the solax CT pointing?
August 20, 2026 at 5:31 pm #377621I don’t know but it works

August 20, 2026 at 5:31 pm #377622The major consumer unit internal and an additional unit it the meter cupboard
Does this include the EV consumer unit or is that ourside?
The critical point from both my drawing, the live tail from the energy suppliers meter should go into the Henley block that the EV live feed comes from to the live of the EV consumer unit and then a live feed, feeds the other Henley block that supplies the house etc and the solax ct on this branch.
If the live feed from the meter goes to the live Henley block that supplies the house CU etc and brings a live feed to the additional Henley block fitted or the Henley that that feeds the EV charger, that is wrong, as it will see the battery as a house load, when charging the car.
I doubt Ohme will honestly know with being charger manufacturers😂
August 20, 2026 at 5:45 pm #377623So as you can see, I have penned out the live from the meter to the EV Henley block and routed the live from meter to the Henley block suplying the house consumer units etc first and dropped a live feed down to the EV Henley block. This is wrong.
99% of issues are wiring or CT clamp locations!
