Yeah you have to do it however with the extension of the OZEV grant they changed the rules on applying. Previously Ohme could do it for you, now they can’t and you’ll get to a point where you’ll get stuck as they’ll ask for a quote which you don’t have as it’s a Motability lease and the form hasn’t been set up for that.
i spoke with Ohme who said they’re in consultation with Motability and OZEV about a way around it and after speaking to Motability they authorised mine being installed without the OZEV form being completed. This was 2 months ago so maybe that’s sorted, if not contact Ohme and they may have a solution now.
June 25, 2026 at 3:13 pm #370186Thanks mark ive gone ahead and submitted it see what happens i guess, how long did it take from applying to getting in installed im sick of going over tesla now ive had so many arguments over there 🙄
June 25, 2026 at 3:39 pm #370187It was in within a month of ordering the car and that included the hold up for OZEV and a pause for uk power networks to check I didn’t need a fuse upgrade.
Did you manage to get all the way through the OZEV application?
June 25, 2026 at 3:47 pm #370188Yes i managed to get through the application, ive had my id4 for two years im planning on extending to 5 years next year due to the advance payments sky rocketing i hope im allowed to keep it for the extra two years this will be my first home charger ive been using tesla for two years but i just get into arguments all the time over there because the chargers are designed to charge on the left so im having to take up two spaces because i charge on the right just had enough now of arguing with people hence why ive asked to have a home charger installed
June 25, 2026 at 4:09 pm #370190As with any grant your are not forced to apply and its at your sole discretion whether you want to apply or not!
June 25, 2026 at 4:22 pm #370191Info I was given by Ohme was that Motability insist we apply before they authorise installation as it saves them £500
July 13, 2026 at 6:50 pm #373796On Wednesday we order a Skoda Enyaq, today we have been contacted by Ohme, I have gone for the basic tethered model, filled in the online form, they enquire do we already have a EV charger (yes 7kWh PodPoint) to replace or an additional EV installation. They did ask for some floor plan sketches I just ignored that.
I shall store my existing PodPoint just in case the Ohme plays up.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Good idea keeping the PodPont as a spare backup.
Can’t see the need for floor sketches either, as you have a cable in situ, but will be interested what the girls think at customer services, when followed the guide lol.
Hope your equally happy with the Enyak as you were the Across 🙂
July 13, 2026 at 10:08 pm #373807If they don’t like it they can come out and survey it ?

Of course, theres no reason why they can’t come out and survey if they aren’t happy, which they should do in the first place. Hopefullythere is more organisation and vross referencing compared to last time I dealt with them
All will be fine mate.

when you say plays up do you mean not charging ? Are the chargers not all reliable enough ?

No Mike. The chargers are reliable and have a 3 year guarantee.
But if the OP does not remove his pod point charger, they would bin it when fitting the Ohme.

Its not their property to dispose of, any decent installer will ask what they want to do with it, especially if in good working order, @Oscarmax can lay the law of the land down and tell the installer he wants retain the charger prior to work starting.
A good working charger would end up in back of van and on ebay!

Don’t over think it Mike 🙂
July 14, 2026 at 2:28 pm #373847Installation date 21st July, seems they did not require some of my duff drawings

July 21, 2026 at 7:59 am #374186Well they are coming out between 8.00 and 16.00 sometime today, they cannot give me a specific time.

July 21, 2026 at 8:02 am #374187That’s great news please keep us updated how long it takes to fit etc length of cable etc as I will be in same boat after Xmas many thanks
July 21, 2026 at 8:36 am #374188In theory mine should be simple we already have a 7kWh Podpoint connected to our outside meter, no doubt they will try it on and try and charge us extra, if that is the case we will stay with our Podpoint.

July 21, 2026 at 10:45 am #374191Don’t forget to make the installer fully aware of your intentions keeping the Podpoint or it’ll be on ebay!
July 21, 2026 at 12:39 pm #374192Definitely

July 21, 2026 at 1:49 pm #374196Looks like I got a real tosser, his key did not fit the meter box, so he got his plier out, I ask have you got the proper key shall I get mine, he said his key is worn. He struggled to open the box, I told him to turn the key the other way, it opened.
I told him I am keeping the old Podpoint he argued, he lost.

July 21, 2026 at 3:42 pm #374263I gather you are getting an extra charger fitted then? If you have 2 chargers it cuts the charge in half I think, but still better with 2 chargers.
Or is he hoping to use the old wiring and just swap the charger and cu out?

Instills alot of confidence when they seamingly don’t know how to open the meter box and blame it on their tools😂
July 21, 2026 at 8:05 pm #374744Well al done I watch him like a hawk, when he finished the Solis Solar app was not recording, the Solax battery app was showing export, he denied messing with it, I reminded he messed with the CT clamp, I made sure he put it right before he left, nicer enough bloke just a bit of a tosser. Glad Mobility is paying him.
Podpoint safely stored in the garage, shame about the sun damage, need some T cut and Autoglm.
