FB – I asked about any discounts on the A4 to Audi Leeds a couple of weeks ago while test driving the a4 and the answer was a curt, NO.

Just to let everyone know, JCT600 are going to continue to do the £500 off ap for Q1. Also, you now don’t need to visit the dealership to order the vehicle as they can do it over the phone, (driver’s licences can be scanned then emailed or posted). Therefore only one visit to collect your new car / return old one. I’m ordering a VW Tiguan Rline dsg diesel with them next week and getting the full £500 off. Cardiff to Newark is 3 hours each way, but worth it I think. Paul

I have just dropped them an email

A bit of a difficult one as I have been specifically asked not to name the dealership/town as they want to keep this very low key due to the potential to upset their other Motability customers, but I will go as far as I can.

The closest Audi dealership to a large military garrison town (it is common knowledge that the dealership principal is a decorated retired senior officer) is offering upto £1200 off the AP of any Audi to WPMS and AFIP recipients only, if ordered before 1st March 2020, including factory orders. (If the AP is less than £1200, they will pay the AP and you can select optional extras for free upto the £1200 offer value).

This is a genuine offer and sorry if it is a bit cloak and dagger, but they specifically asked not to be named if I posted details of the offer. I have thus gone as close as I can in describing the dealership. I think most veterans will know who it is anyway as they sponsor at least one of the welfare fund vehicles and often advertise on the Defence Discount site.

I have just ordered a new A3 Diesel Sportback 35 TDI Black Edition Auto with the AP reduced to £1085 although I have specced a paid option pack on top.

This is a difficult one for me Mike, its great that a deal is available and i can understand why the dealership wants to keep it quite from non military disabled, but it doesnt sit right with me.

I suppose it is the obverse to when a dealership was offering £500 off Motability AP’s (not cashback, but a straight £500 off the AP’s) but for War Pensioners there was no offer as the vehicles were nil AP on WPMS!

Not sure its quite the same thing Dave but I would feel the same way if war pensioners were being excluded from deals. The way I’m reading this is that its only available to disabled war pensioners and that’s not OK IMO.

I’m all for deals but positive discrimination is a problem for me, but it is a great deal, if you can get it.

    Brydo,

If it is the dealership I ‘think’ it is (not certain, as I was never based in the area I am thinking of), they regularly offer quite big discounts on new/used cars to serving military and veterans which are not available to the general public (adverts regularly in Navy News etc). Veterans need to show proof of former service or use a code from the restricted access Defence Discount site in order to get the discounts.

Within that context, perhaps they thought they were overlooking disabled veterans on Motability. Hence the offer could be viewed purely within their overall policy of giving discounts for military and veterans, as opposed to it being a purely ‘disabled’ thing.

If it is indeed the dealership I am thinking of, they are signatory to an Armed Forces Corporate Covenant, which along with other various things they state they will do (employ ex-forces wherever possible, allow employees to be members of the reserve forces and give them paid time off for such etc), they do say they will offer a discount to serving personnel and veterans. Hence, I suppose if they don’t give a discount to all veterans (disabled or not) they are in breach of their signed covenant!

Lots of other companies likewise give discounts to military and veterans, indeed only yesterday the Secretary of State for Transport announced the new Veterans Railcard giving 34% off train travel for all veterans (to be launched on 11th November 2020 if any veterans are interested, albeit I presume many here may have a disabled railcard already).

I think that is more along the lines of what they probably intend.

Whatever, it is a pity I am not due to change vehicles yet as a new Audi would certainly be on my list.

About 4 years ago, I and the Mrs went and checked out both the Qashqai and the XTrail.

We found the boot was shockingly small on the Qashqai, and whilst both seemed ok and drove well enough at the time we opted for something else.

Getting our heads back in the car selection groove of late we called into the local Nissan dealership for a fresh look at the two cars.

We were quite surprised, the Qashqai’s boot seemed even smaller than we remembered.

When we looked at the XTrail, I also jumped in the back once i’d set the drivers seat for my height, and was quite surprised how cramped it was.

The back seat is definitely higher than the front (Kuga style) and at 6’2″ my head was scraping the roof.

Having run both a Qashqai from 09 to 12, and an XTrail from 06 to 09, those older models were much more roomy inside. We also felt that both cars are now quite dated inside, which in my view at least, makes a bit of a mockery of the AP’s that Nissan are currently asking for the Tekna spec cars.

Nissan need to up their game for sure.

Wish this had been the case 3 months ago lol – could have had me £350 for a single trip and £50 worth of diesel.  I took a lower, closer deal as I decided that it wasn’t worth two full days of my life and a tank and a half of fuel to get the extra money, but a single day and 3/4 of a tank I’d probably have done the driving.

Do some dealerships offer this? I was told this wasn’t an option at all!

We have had a more local test drive but are going to have to travel much further to access a deal.

Has anyone seen any offers in the ioniq premium se.  I know it’s not to bad an AP but every little helps.  Went to the dealership today and could have one in 2 weeks due to Hyundai’s build policy.

Just wanted to let everyone know about the brilliant service and price I received from VW Wakefield, JCT600.  As someone who is quick to highlight poor service, it makes a pleasant change to be able to recommend a Dealership for excellent service.

I phoned last week and spoke with Ash, I enquired about the Tiguan R Line Tech DSG. Got a call back confirming they had vehicles available, due in soon, they could match any offer from other VW dealers.

Went over to Wakefield this afternoon, really easy to get to the Dealership, just off J40 of the M1. Spent time looking at colours, checking suitability, discussing delivery, packs and accessories available.

I was really impressed with them, they offered to match any deal that other VW dealers offer, placed my order and looking forward to delivery of my shiny new Tiguan R Line Tech DSG Indium Grey. Fingers crossed for April delivery.
If anyone is looking at VW, these guys at Wakefield are worth a phone call and a visit.

    Ask for Ash or James
