Got this from Octopus this afternoon.
Basically only off-peak charging with an end time between 4am and 11am, no daytime charging unless it’s at the full price.

We’re making some changes to your ‘ready by’ time options.
You’ll notice this change from 27th February.
Here’s what you need to know:

You’ll now only be able to choose a ‘ready by’ time between 4am and 11am

This is to ensure you have a smooth charging experience

If you need to charge during the daytime, you’ll need to Max Charge instead
If you need to update your set up, you’ll be prompted to do so once you open up the Ohme app.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

        @Phaedra,

I got it too. Basically, too many people were “gaming the system” and setting a “ready by” time during the day in order to get the cheap rate during daylight hours.

Moderators have been warning against doing this on the Facebook group Ohme Integration with Octopus.

Doesn’t bother me as I’ve always set the “ready by” time for 07:45, and if I plug- in at around tea time, I invariably get some cheap electricity around 10pm anyway. If Ohme and Octopus decide to do this, then this is perfectly acceptable, it’s the forced charging which has been outlawed. Some people were plugging in at tea time and setting the “ready by” time for say 22:00.

As always, the few beedy grastards have spoilt it for the majority!

this doesn’t concern me. I plug the car in and always ask it to be ready by 5:30am. I continue to be impressed with Octopus.

            Somethings not right!

Just plugged in for tonights charge, set for ready by 8am, it says estimated cost is £5.19 ??

That can’t be right, it’s usually under £3??

It also says “Next charging at 23:00”

            Schedule says.
            23:00-23:30
            23:30-00:00
            00:00-00:15
            00:15-06:29

I’ll see what it says in the morning

IIRC it never gives the correct price when you plug in.

When you unplug in the morning, the Ohme App will show the correct adjusted price.

As long as your Ohme App says “smart charging”, all is good 👍

my estimated charge and actual cost rates are very different. luckily the actual ones are much lower than the estimated ones.

next charging at 23;00 should be fine- its calculated the time based on how long it will take to get the charge so can start earlier- or later than 23;30 but will only charge at off peak rate. I think octopus try and get the charge as close to the 23;30-5:30 slots but they can happen around that.

am noticing lots of stop start charging with 15 minute pause intervals. I am just happy I have had the electrician rewire the car charger so it doesn’t muck around with my home batteries – it would be a nightmare having to reprofile their charge with multiple car charge slots.

Yes, it’s started at 23:00 as it said.

I’ve not really had many problems with charging using the Ohme App, I did notice that when I plugged it in about 3pm ready for tonight it came up with about 10 charging slots of 1 to 2 minutes each from 3pm onwards.  Usually, as you say, they’re 15min slots.

Just in case it was getting confused with the new times being applied tonight/tomorrow I unplugged it and plugged back in at 7pm, that then gave the more sensible times I posted above starting at 23:00.

£3.38 for 48.2kWh so charged (no pun intended!) as normal 🙂

Range for 100% charge is showing 248 so relaistically about 210
Useless Skoda App says it’s connected to car (online) and I have 42% battery and 98 miles range!!

I was considering moving from OVO to Octopus, but with this change, I am considering staying where I am.

With OVO, I will be able to charge at 7p/kWh at any time, day or night – but only the EV charging can benefit from this rate.

Are there any advantages now to switching to OVO? I know I can run other loads such as the washing machine during the 7p period – but it only uses 1kWh on a cycle, so I would save £17p per wash – hardly worth the inconvenience of only being able to charge the car overnight at the cheaper rate.

Luckily we don’t need to charge through the day, so sticking with IOG. Also request charge by 8am as I can’t see us leaving before then!

Considering moving my mum from IOG to EON next drive, mainly because of the fixed day rate and similar overnight rate to IOG.

Octopus has also changed the hourly use as much energy as you can sessions to as much as you can save, which isn’t as good and pointless imo.

Makes sense, The eon next drive is pretty simple which I like. I turn of dynamic charging and the schedule is set in my car. 12am to 7am and It pushes 49.2 kwh in the 7 hrs.

The actual peak rate isn’t too much more and less than a penny than the flex rate I was on. it is fixed for 12 months but no fees to change tariff. Not had it long and I wonder if that means say V6 when introduced is cheaper if the price cap was to lowers, can you then move on to that.

Don’t see why not with no exit fee’s

i have heard nothing from octopus about my tariff which is also IO but i play by the rules and always request my car be ready no later than 7am so all my charging happens between 2130 – 0700 dependant on how much juice i need
