As from 1st May Octopus has informed Intelligent Go and Go customers on the variable tariff this off peak charge will increase to 18.3 pence a kWh still 20%, fortunately in April I fixed for 12 months my Octopus Go for 9.5 pence off peak 32.02 peak.

My rough calculation 18.3 pence off peak and 32 pence peak they would be probably better off on the standard 24 pence tariff. It seems gone are the days of 5,6, 7 and 8.5 pence off peak tariffs.

Plus adding the 3 pence upcoming tariff

        Good morning

I’m on an electric only tariff with Night and Day unit pricing.

        EDF currently.

Our heating in the main part of the house is by storage heaters ( we’re in a remote part of Cornwall) and a wood-stove.

Our fixed rates after the April reduction are:

        Night 8.23p/Kwh

        Day 26.4/Kwh

This was a fixed until this October 31. Fixed but still came down in April.

We had an EV in 22 with a wall charger fixed but the range in winter was erratic (poor) and EV infrastructure in Cornwall was inadequate.

        Harry

Hi, Am on Intelligent Octopus Go Tariff and it is increasing to 6.9p/kWh from 5.2p/kWh off peak and 28.584p from 26.084p.

A annual increase for me of £86.25p.

That better than my April Octopus Go fixed. It’s the flexible tariff they are targeting

Intelligent Octopus Go has changed. I was kicked off and put on a flexible Tariff, then I had to join the new IOG.

Its Intelligent Octopus Go 12M. So its a fixed tariff.

Understandably, the Gulf nonsense means every energy provider will change their tariffs, out with the old and in with the new.

Energy expenditure will rise for everyone, no matter who you are with.

We are quite fortunate we have solar panels and a battery, the sun is shining so ok at the moment, I am going to monitor Octopus Agile we ok until April 2027.

All these energy hikes, the upcoming 3 p mile and the ever increasing AP I will be dusting off the mobility scooter

I’m going to compare the market next week, as my Go tariff ends July.

They did that to me earlier this month.

Moved to the new IOG 12M and fixed my gas as well.

My direct debit went from 80 to 105 today…

They cut my export tariff from 15p to 12p kWh due to falling prices then a week later increased their prices.

But they claim they 100% renewable energy,  no? I always laugh when I hear this nonsense – their prices should be near 5p per kWh if that would be the case.  Alternatively they simply rip off us.

I export about 20% more than I import, including the standing Tarif my electric was just under zero, Octopus by reducing my export from 15 to 12p i.e. 20%, so instead of just under zero by electric bill has increased by 20%, plus my fixed Octopus Tariff has increased 10%, basically I am 30% worse off.

I just switched to EDF, which was on the IOG variable and that went up, but the go price is crazy for 5 hours. Edf is offering 7 hours, till the 24th of May, I think. You get £50 credit for switching. Also, they offer a bolt-on, and they pay you £60 a year for smart charging, plus possible extra slots. Whereas on IOG soon you will be limited to 6 hours. The fixed IOG is way too high. Personally, I don’t feel Octopus are that competitive anymore. I only switched to them in feb and the gas is fixed, so that’s staying for now.

Can you explain how it works,  please?

I used someone’s referral here and was switched today.

I appreciate it is their standard variable until they will get the readings and then should be switched to their EV tariff.

My understanding the 7 hours with EDF is for a duration of the contract and not until 24 May.

Also what is their smart charging? The EDF app is awfully basic.
