Electric vehicle (EV) charging network Charge My Street has become the latest to join Zap-Map’s payment platform Zap-Pay.

This marks the ninth chargepoint operator to be added to Zap-Pay, with work to begin soon on the technical integration required to set up Charge My Street as a Zap-Pay partner.

The single-app payment system uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, avoiding the hassle of using multiple apps across different networks, according to Zap-Map.

Connected Kerb recently became the eighth chargepoint operator to sign up, with other operators including ESB Energy, GeniePoint, char.gy and Motor Fuel Group.

“We need to make paying for charging as simple as possible,” said Alex Earl, commercial director at Zap-Map. “Charge My Street’s demand-led approach and community ethos will tie in perfectly with Zap-Pay and help us do just that.”

Charge My Street is a community-led charging network that installs and operates community EV chargepoints, raising money through community shares.

It currently operates over 40 fast charging devices in the north-west of England, with chargepoints installed at sites such as village halls, community centres and local businesses with an aim of making it easier for those without access to off-street parking to switch to an EV.

Why have an app at all?  We don’t need an app to buy anything else. What’s the benefit to the consumer?
