Wondering whether there’s any chance of the Jaecoo 8 or the Chery Tiggo 9 coming onto the scheme.

Current shortlist, ‘cos we need loads of room for wife’s power chair, is Skoday Kodiaq SE L and Chery Tiggo 8. The Skoda is lovely, but much more expensive and much less well equipped than the Summit trim we’d go for in the Tiggo 8.

      Any thoughts?

Current: MY24 Renault Austral Iconic FHD.
      Ordered 5/2/26: Chery Tiggo 8
      Previous Motability cars:
      2013 Ford Focus estate auto.
2016 Vauxhal Zafira 1.4T SE Auto.
2019 Ford Kuga Vignale 1.5 auto AWD. (Ext lease)

Just commenting to keep an eye on this. Partner and I currently have the Kodiaq SE L. Very happy with it but, as you say, the AP was a debt-inducing necessary evil at the time. Next lease due in 2028 and am doubtful the Kodiaq will reduce it’s AP enough by then to make it a viable option so hoping the other two you’ve mentioned make it onto the scheme with AP’s that are a bit more budget friendly.

Shame though, the Kodiaq is a monstrously cavernous beast that I find a joy to drive…will be sad to see it go

the main thing that bothers me with these chinese cars is the mpg most are below 40mpg which is dire.

even the hybrid mg hs trophy ive been looking at is only just over 50mpg which when you compare it to others toyota hybrids over 60mpg isnt great.

not a huge issue as at most i am going to do 15k over 3 years so in terms of monthly cost its not a huge issue i just dont want to spend more than i have to.

that said i am considering electric without home charging lol. i know i know i dont need telling again lol.

6 weeks solid ive been at it and i am still faffing around not making a decision. looking at every site possible about every car possible. i do like the ev 4 though but do i? do you think we will get the fastback version? or is it too coupe y.

Chery is in talks with JLR to build its vehicles at JLR plants in the UK. Chery already builds JLR vehicles at its plant in China through a joint adventure signed in 2012.

You can’t really compare the HS to a Toyota Yaris city car. The HS is more akin to the RAV 4 hybrid, which gets very similar mpg  to the HS.

Do you like the Fastback EV4? Personally I think its way to much out of proportion and frankly ugly compared to the the standard EV4.

You will be fine with an EV mate and based on my calculations on your shafted thread, you would probably be able to run one free, even at public chargers based on a fixed £84 p/w AP and saving going in your pocket compared to a car with TA

it was tonight 16.30. weird who would have thought an ultrasound being done at the same time as having your blood pressure done at your ankles would cause pain.

i think it somehow pressed on the sciatic nerve or did something to it.

it took 3 attempts to get a proper reading. and i ended up literally with pain in my buttocks you couldnt make it up.lol

3 or 4 days to wait for the results he said but reading his face summats up. i dont think its going to be good news.

Interesting – they built Jaguar I Pace in Austria, but Chinese cars will be built in the UK?
